3. Add the option to add knowledge (RAG) to custom Lumos and Projects

   Having additional knowledge (RAG) to a custom Lumo and/or Project is really useful. One can add specific files/websites/documents for different types of custom Lumos or Projects.

   As an example:
   - custom Lumo acting as an expert for a product line - add the documentation for the product line as knowledge.
   - custom Lumo acting as an expert in egovernment serivces - add the website of the egovernment services as knowledge
   - a Project for personal finance - add invoices, or income reports as knowledge
   - a Project related to planning an event - add offers, suggestions, plans as knowledge

   At least the following types of knowledge should be available:
   - Uploaded files (documents, text files, PDF files (with OCR option), images, etc.)
   - URLs - websites, public repositories, etc. (to be re-fetched regularly, to be crawled for several levels (e.g. pointing to a github repo to index the content in the subfolders as well))
   - Proton services (e.g. folder from Drive, the whole Device, Mail, Calendar)
   - External apps / Connectors / MCP servers - e.g. Atlassian stack, other email and collaboration platforms, etc.
   - Project specific - project content - once there are several chats in a project, they should be part of the knowledge available and used for new chats in the same project

4. Automatically save chat responses to a document

   In my view, Lumo 2.0 should prioritize its core strengths—leveraging the scientific and technical expertise behind Proton's mission—rather than focusing heavily on image generation. Image creation requires significant financial investment, and many established competitors already serve this market extensively. While I understand there may be legitimate privacy concerns around processing images, it seems the choice to pursue image generation was driven by market trends in AI rather than staying true to the scientific and educational purpose for which Proton was originally founded. My suggestion would be to refocus development resources toward those foundational goals where Proton has unique value and differentiation. For example;

   Background:
   I am deciding at this time who to invest my time, information and money for ai services. I see the benefits of Claude and its ability of Coworker.
   What’s my issue.
   I want to use Lumo for my personal & business for knowledge management with Projects and Drive integration. Currently:
   index works beautifully, but saving responses requires manual copy/paste/upload.

   Requested Feature:
   Automatically save chat responses to a documents name it and to assign to Project folder I’m working in, into the Proton Drive,
   then index those files for future context retrieval without loading full conversation history.

   Thank you for your Suite, I have subscribed for mainly the vpn but have unlimited subscription. I don’t use extensively because the offering is still a bit raw. No sheet app for example or document app. So just waiting.

5. Language correction button for Lumo with categories

   Add a "Report Language Error" button in the Lumo chat interface that lets users flag language issues directly. After clicking, users choose a category:

   Strict — Pure nonsense/incorrect term. Generates a corrected, academically accurate response.

   Synonym — Suggest an alternative word/phrase and context where it fits better. Helps Lumo understand nuance, register and topic-specific synonyms.

   Humoristic — Witty alternatives and wordplay. Helps Lumo learn humor and puns in the local language (especially useful for users with a "Casual/Cheeky" Lumo personality).

   This feeds into Proton's language improvement pipeline, helping Lumo and Scribe produce more natural, localized output — especially for smaller languages like Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Finish.

   Use case: When Lumo says "hundkur" instead of "hundkoja," the user flags it as Strict. When Lumo misses a pun opportunity, the user flags it as Humoristic — and Lumo gets funnier over time.

8. Subject: User Leaving Due to Lumo v2.0 Image Generation Feature

   I've been a loyal Proton customer across multiple services (Mail, Drive, VPN, Pass, etc.) because I trusted your commitment to privacy-first technology. Unlike other AI providers, Proton was positioned as genuinely different — not collecting data, respecting boundaries, and prioritizing ethics over features.

   The Issue
   Lumo's v2.0 update introduced image generation capabilities. This fundamentally changed what made Lumo trustworthy to users like myself. Before this update, there was one clear distinction between Lumo and mainstream AIs: you didn't offer tools that could be used to create potentially harmful content. Now, that line has blurred.

   Why Filters Aren't Enough
   Safety filters on prompts and generated pixels don't solve the core problem:

   Workarounds exist. Determined bad actors routinely find jailbreak techniques that bypass guardrails on every major AI platform
   Capability itself is the risk. Having the ability to generate images — even when filtered — means the possibility exists. You knew this would be the case
   Real-world harm documented everywhere else. Deepfake ***********, graphic violence, child exploitation imagery — these happen on platforms with similar "safeguards." Adding the same vector here carries the same risk
   What Makes This Worse for Proton Specifically
   This contradicts Proton's own founding identity. Other Big Tech companies chasing revenue through surveillance capitalism? Expected. But Proton built its reputation on standing apart from them. Saying "other AIs have image gen so we need it too" isn't an argument — it's surrendering to the exact pressure model you claimed to reject.

   Two interpretations remain:

   Proton knowingly compromised stated ethical principles despite understanding the risks
   Success bred overconfidence — believing we can do something unethical "better" than everyone else
   Either outcome damages trust.

   Broader Harm Beyond Privacy
   Image generation isn't just about risky content. It also:

   Enables mass production of "AI art" that profits while devaluing human creators struggling to earn honestly
   Floods markets with machine generated visuals at near-zero cost, pricing out professionals who invested decades in skill
   Creates legal grey areas around copyright, attribution, and consent AI in today’s world has gotten so realistic with image and video creation that at times it’s hard to know what’s real
   None of this aligns with Proton's public stance on protecting digital freedom and privacy.

   Current Alternative
   I'm moving to DuckDuckGo.ai, which offers text chat + image sending (analysis) — but deliberately avoids image generation entirely, while also having the same idea of privacy that proton have with no data being stored or shared, Proof that competitive AI doesn't require crossing this line. Their restraint validates that this was a choice, not inevitability.

   To end this complaint I’d just like to say as a customer of proton I hope going into the future the company keeps its promise and ethics so proton doesn’t just become another Google or Amazon
   To company’s customers are numbers and to customers company’s are tools for day to day life but the relationship between proton and its users is always has been and I hope continues to be one word “hope”

   Reconsider whether this feature aligns with nonprofit-led mission values under Proton Foundation oversight
   Not asking for perfection. Asking for alignment between what you stand for and what you build.

   Thank you for past work. Hoping this helps shape future decisions better than recent ones did.

9. Use mouse scrollwheel to change month/day/week in the calendar

   I miss the ability that Google Calendar has in month view, to use the mouse scroll wheel to quickly move between months. It would be great if this feature, or something similar, was implemented in Proton Calendar.

   Along the same lines, a lot of modern mice have a tiltable scrollwheel, and that tilt can be used for horizontal scrolling, so why not make that move to the next day/week/month?

10. Improve Lumo’s UI/UX for a smoother, more responsive daily experience

    Dear Proton Community and Development Team,

    I would like to suggest improvements to Lumo’s user interface and overall user experience so that it feels smoother, more consistent, and better suited for daily use.

    Privacy and security are very important, and this is one of the main reasons why many users are interested in Proton products. However, for an AI assistant to become part of everyday work, it also needs to feel fast, polished, intuitive, and enjoyable to use.

    My request is specifically about improving the interaction design and visual consistency of Lumo.

    Suggested improvements:

    1. More responsive UI interactions
       Buttons, menus, input fields, and other interactive elements should provide clearer visual feedback when users hover, click, tap, open panels, or send messages.

    2. Smoother animations
       New messages, loading states, chat transitions, and opening or closing panels could feel more natural with subtle, polished animations.

    3. More consistent spacing, borders, and layout
       Some UI elements feel small or visually inconsistent. A more unified design system with consistent spacing, rounded corners, and clearer hierarchy would make Lumo feel more refined.

    4. More polished visual design
       A cleaner design language, possibly using soft rounded “squircle” shapes and subtle glass-like surfaces, could make the interface feel more modern while still remaining simple and professional. Dark and light modes are enough, but both should feel carefully designed and visually balanced.

    5. More personality in the Lumo brand elements
       The Lumo cat or logo could become slightly more interactive or reactive, for example during loading, idle states, or successful actions. This should remain subtle and professional, but it could make the product feel more alive and memorable.

    6. Better personalization inside Lumo
       It would be useful to allow users to upload files or reference material directly inside Lumo for personalization, similar to project-based workflows in other AI tools. This would reduce the need to paste very long texts manually.

    Why this matters:

    A secure AI assistant is valuable, but security alone is not enough for daily adoption. If the product feels too static, too small, or not responsive enough, users are less likely to use it regularly. A smoother and more consistent interface would make Lumo feel more mature, trustworthy, and pleasant to use.

    This request is not about adding unnecessary visual effects. It is about improving usability, consistency, responsiveness, and the overall feeling of quality.

11. UI Element & Emoji Mode Settings Toggle

    Hello. This feature request is a personalization and/or customization option. I really think it’d be a neat addition. I will break it down simply to avoid wasting others time. This applies to the app, potentially the iOS 26 application, and is a simple switch in the settings.

    ✔️Toggle checkmark box for “enhanced emojis & UI effects.

    🟰Net result is an increased frequency of emojis and UI elements such as lists, tables with headers and bold fonts, increased emojis, increased syntax boxes, increased purple boxes with abstracts — all elements and and emojis are outputted at a higher rate than without toggling the mode on, which outputs the standard rate of emojis/artifacts.

    I will list this in my upcoming document to Proton Support mentioning a plethora of feature requests and I highly encourage anyone who wants to work together to advance Lumo to reach out to me.

12. Sort chat history by last activity

    Description:
    Lumo’s chat history currently appears to keep conversations sorted by their original creation date instead of their most recent activity.

    This creates a significant usability problem when reusing older conversations. If I open an old chat and continue using it, the conversation does not move back to the top of the history. It stays buried in the same old position, even though it has just become active again.

    This is especially inconvenient for long-running conversations. For example, I may have a chat created weeks or months ago that I still use regularly for the same topic, project, research thread, troubleshooting case, or personal workflow. Even after sending a new message in that chat, it remains far down in the history list.

    Expected behavior:

    When a conversation receives a new message, either from the user or from Lumo, it should move back to the top of the history. The history should be sorted by last activity, not only by the original creation date.

    Current behavior:

    Old conversations seem to remain sorted according to when they were first created. Reusing a conversation does not make it appear as a recent chat.

    Why this matters:

    This makes the history harder to use as the number of chats increases. A conversation that is still active and relevant can remain hidden far down the list simply because it was created a long time ago.

    The current behavior also goes against what users normally expect from chat applications, messaging apps, email threads, and productivity tools. In most interfaces, a recently active conversation is shown near the top, regardless of when it was originally created.

    Practical impact:

    Users may need to scroll through a long history to find conversations they are actively using.

    Important ongoing conversations become harder to resume.

    Users may create duplicate chats just to keep important topics visible, which makes the history more cluttered.

    The “history” view becomes less useful because it does not reflect what has actually been used recently.

    This is particularly annoying for people who use Lumo for ongoing technical work, long-term research, recurring questions, project notes, or conversations that naturally continue over time.

    Suggested improvement:

    Please sort chat history by a “last activity” or “last updated” timestamp.

    A chat should move to the top when:

    The user sends a new message in that conversation.

    Lumo replies in that conversation.

    The conversation is resumed or updated.

    Optional improvement:

    It would also be useful to display the last activity date or time in the history list, so users can clearly understand why a conversation appears where it does.

    Possible sorting options could include:

    Sort by last activity

    Sort by creation date

    Sort alphabetically

    Pinned or favorite chats first

    But the default behavior should probably be sorting by last activity, because that is the standard and expected behavior for a chat history.

    Body:

    Users with sporadic needs — such as using Lumo Plus for a few intense workdays or Meet Professional for a rare large meeting — are currently penalized by the pricing structure.

    While annual plans offer a discount, they force a 12-month commitment for services that may only be needed for a few days. Monthly plans exist, but they often carry a significant premium compared to the monthly equivalent of the annual rate. This creates a "flexibility tax" that discourages users from paying only for what they actually use.

    I propose that Proton offer fairly priced monthly-only options for add-ons like Lumo Plus and Meet Professional, without a steep markup compared to the annual rate. This would allow users to:

    Subscribe only when needed (e.g., for one month before a big conference).
    Cancel immediately after without financial penalty.
    Align their spending directly with their actual usage patterns.
    

    Removing the "flexibility tax" would signal that Proton trusts its users to pay fairly for value received, rather than relying on long-term lock-ins to maximize revenue.

    Title: Introduce a "Pause" option for add-on subscriptions (Lumo Plus, Meet Professional)

    Body:

    Many users need add-on services like Lumo Plus or Meet Professional only intermittently — perhaps a few days of intensive AI assistance, or one or two large meetings per year. Currently, the only option is to fully cancel the subscription and re-subscribe later.

    This creates an unnecessary dilemma:

    Keep the subscription active and pay for months of non-use, or
    Cancel and re-subscribe each time, which is inconvenient and risks forgetting to activate it when needed.
    

    A simple "Pause subscription" feature — allowing users to suspend billing for one or more months while preserving their account configuration — would solve this cleanly. Streaming services, gym memberships, and software tools already offer this. It would let users align their spending with their actual usage, building trust rather than relying on inertia.

    This would be a meaningful step toward the kind of transparent, user-respecting billing that distinguishes Proton from the extractive practices of Big Tech.

16. Timestamp

    I would find it helpful to have access to a timestamp for each chat input. Some of my chats go over months and sometimes I would like to know when I input a specific information.

17. Feature Request: Adding OCR/Image Text Extraction to Lumo for Expense Tracking

    Dear Proton Development Team,

    First, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible work you do. As a long-time Proton Unlimited user, I deeply value your commitment to privacy, security, and the "privacy-first" philosophy that sets you apart in the tech landscape. The fact that Lumo is built on zero-access encryption and respects user data is exactly why I chose to adopt it.

    I am writing today to share a piece of feedback regarding a potential feature enhancement that I believe would significantly boost Lumo's utility for daily life: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for image uploads.

    Currently, while the file upload feature works seamlessly on my account, I am unable to extract text from images (such as photos of receipts, fuel pump displays, or invoices). For many users, including myself, this is a missed opportunity for powerful automation.

    Why this matters: Imagine a workflow where I could simply snap a photo of a fuel pump display or a grocery receipt, upload it to Lumo, and have the AI instantly:

    Extract the date, total amount, currency, and quantity.
    Automatically format this data into a CSV or spreadsheet row.
    Categorize the expense and update my budget or fuel tracking logs (like my existing fuelings.csv).
    This would turn Lumo from a conversational assistant into a true productivity partner for personal finance and logistics. It would save hours of manual data entry and reduce the friction of tracking daily expenses.

    A Note on Privacy: I understand that Proton prioritizes user privacy above all else. I am confident that this feature could be implemented in a way that aligns perfectly with your values:

    Local Processing: Ideally, the OCR processing could happen locally on the device (if supported) or in a zero-knowledge environment where the image is processed and the text is extracted without the raw image data ever being stored or logged on your servers.
    Explicit Consent: The feature could be opt-in, requiring explicit user permission for each image analyzed, ensuring full user control.
    I believe that adding OCR capabilities would not compromise the security model you have built but would instead demonstrate how privacy and powerful utility can coexist. It would make Lumo an indispensable tool for anyone trying to manage their life efficiently without sacrificing their data sovereignty.

    Thank you for listening to this suggestion and for continuing to build tools that empower users. I look forward to seeing how Lumo evolves and hope this feature finds its way into a future update.

18. Option turn off anthropomorphic thinking and text

    I am currently very ritated

    why? I am wasting time, energy, and most of all TOKENS because of lumo's anthropomorphic beheviour.

    I understand people love anthropomorphic AIs.

    Can we however have an option to turn if off?

    And i really really really hope i do not need to explain what anthropomorphic in Ais means.

    because i my suggestion is NEXT LEVEL

    as in thinking and the text.

    Lumo keeps repeating the same answers, or otherwise, without thinking even when explicitly told to stop.

    when it finally stops to thinking, more then half of the "thinking" are simple anthropomorphic related text.

    Oh User is frustrated because i did this and i should have not. I need to make sure i apologies to user. I need to make sure i acknolage. I need to this. I need to do that. <- absolutly NONE of them are relevant to the task. and albsolutly ALL of them occure each time Lumo finally thinks.

    We are wasting most of out time, energy, and resources, because of this anthropomorphic elements in an AI.

    or what, is it a crime, heath risk, fraud, abuse, something? that an ais is not constanly determin how to "not offend" someone who is explicitly telling it to stop with this commenteries about what it did, what it did wrong, apologies, acknolagements, what it will do, as in reassurances, and ..... Did i make it clear? ALL of this, even if they are NOT in the output, they are if you simple check the thinking. And this happens alll the time. Insted of Lumo chekcing the tast, or instructions, or otherwise, it preocupised with anthropomorphic beheviour.

    For proton: I hope you understand that I am not talking about preferences but about the fact that a paid product is wasting time, mental energy, is getting absurd for not reason, it's producing text that is unsolicited, unproductive, ilogical at time AND it is PREVENTING anything to progress:

19. Add files or attachments to calendar events

    I see "Add Proton Drive Files as attachments in Proton Calendar events" is a present request - however, it would be great to be able to add attachments regardless of Proton Drive usage.

    For example, I have a ticket to an event in my pm.me email. It would be great if I could just add the ticket to my calendar event and have all info housed in one app - one source of event truth.

    Another use case: adding text documents to meeting events so the agenda is attached to the event and more readily accessed.

    It would be great to edit the current and upcoming events only, without messing up past events. The overwriting all previous modifications to a recurring event makes it very inflexible to use.
