3. Option to start Lumo with voice reconition

   When you want to start lumo with voice reconition. Add the following:

   This would be hands free, so you can actually talk to Lumo to open/start it. There would be a button you could press as well.

4. Dedicated app for Windows

   Create a web wrapper app like proton mail, but for lumo. Instead of having to load lumo in a browser as a tab. Currently this creates issues.

   1: A browser with many tabs will slow lumo down.

   2: Lumo's save ability is tied to the browser's startup behavior. If the browser is set to restore the previous session, then lumo will restore all conversations that are not in ghost mode. If the browser is not set this way, then certain new conversations are not restored when opening the browser. Having ghost mode disabled doesn't make any difference.

   Lumo could have an icon in the proton mail app, and if you launch it, then it could either load it as a tab in your current browser, or as a separate window within the proton mail app.

   3: Lumo can have a browser open just for lumo, so lumo won't have resource contention, but this is not ideal. If you don't have lots of ram, this is an issue, but for those who have lots, it is a non issue.

   The ability to run Lumo in a text-based user interface (TUI) in a console (terminal) client, in for example bash or cmd. With no dependencies to a graphical user interface (GUI).

6. Android Intent Support or API for a Reading App Integration

   Dear Lumo Team,
   I'm the developer of @Voice Aloud Reader, a popular Android ebook/document reader app. I'm interested in integrating AI-powered book summarization features that respect user privacy - which makes Lumo an ideal solution.

   Current Approach & Results: I've tested Lumo with book chapters (up to 100KB text) by manually copying/pasting content. The summarization quality and literary analysis are excellent - exactly what my users need for "remind me what happened" scenarios when returning to books after breaks, having questions to answer, discuss the book etc., but copy/paste workflow is far from perfect.

   Feature Requests:
   1. Intent.ACTION_SEND Support: Allow my app to send prompts + text/files directly to Lumo via Android's share mechanism. Ideally support both EXTRA_TEXT to insert the prompt, and at the same intent – optional EXTRA_STREAM to attach a text file.
   2. Save Chat Intent: Optional ability to save completed chats to specified file paths (with user approval). If summarizing a book by chapters, this would serve to collect all the summaries in one file for future chats.
   3. Alternative: API for Developers: Consider offering an API for app developers to integrate Lumo capabilities
   o Ideally allow also user-controlled API keys (users create their own keys under their Lumo accounts/subscriptions for maximum privacy control) to avoid hassles with handling paid subscriptions in the app.

   Benefits to Proton:
   • Increased Lumo app adoption among my user base (currently about 500,000 active users per month), particularly if the intent mechanism works well – with API approach users would not necessarily install Lumo app and buy their own subscription plans.
   • Showcases Lumo's privacy-first approach in a practical use case
   • Demonstrates superior alternative to privacy-compromising AI services

   Privacy Alignment: This integration would help users analyze their legitimately-owned ebooks while maintaining the privacy guarantees that make Lumo unique.

7. Feedback on Conversation Restrictions

   I value Lumo’s privacy-first approach and commitment to respectful dialogue, but I feel that the conversation restrictions and automated content moderation make it frustrating to use for honest adult discussion. Too often, it feels less like I’m talking to a smart assistant and more like I’m conversing with a cautious PR department or a nervous nun—avoiding anything remotely challenging or controversial.

   Real conversation and learning require engagement on sensitive, nuanced topics (like politics, social justice, religion and world affairs). Instead, Lumo shuts down or blocks the session whenever certain keywords or contentious issues are mentioned—even if the conversation is thoughtful, fact-based, and non-offensive. That kills authentic debate and makes it impossible to use Lumo for genuine curiosity or personal growth.

   I suggest to review the filtering system and give mature users the freedom to explore difficult questions without fear of automatic censorship. Balancing safety with real dialogue is key to making Lumo a better, more empowering platform.

8. Enable Lumo to Integrate with iOS MCP Mode for Voice Assistant Capabilities

   In the recently released developer beta of iOS 26.1, references were discovered in the system files indicating that Apple is preparing support for MCP (Model Context Protocol). While Apple has not officially announced this feature yet, these findings strongly suggest that MCP integration is coming soon.

   This presents an exciting opportunity for Proton to make Lumo more powerful and accessible by enabling it to function as a third-party AI voice assistant within iOS. Users could directly invoke Lumo at the system level, similar to Siri, but with Proton’s strong emphasis on privacy and security.

   Why this matters:
   
   - Privacy-first alternative: Current mainstream voice assistants often rely on invasive data collection. Lumo, aligned with Proton’s mission, could become the first truly privacy-respecting voice assistant on iOS.
   
   - User control: Proton can ensure audio inputs and contextual queries remain encrypted and are never exploited for advertising or profiling.

9. Lumo is great at Math, but bad at Latex!

   I am finding that Lumo is shockingly good at the type of math I do, professionally.
   I am seriously thinking about buying the Lumo+ extension.

   However it is very frustrating, at times, by the way it handles Latex in its answers.

   1) Sometime the latex expression is not properly displayed as math, but just as a bunch of code. The latter is of course hard(er) to parse.

   2) When asked to produce latex code, the output is often buggy and contains nonstandard unicode symbols. It rarely compiles out of the box.

   3) When asked to produce small latex code (to be copy/pasted), it displays it as math and it's hard to copy paste. I have found that I can fix this by asking Lumo to wrap the latex code between ``` symbols, so that it is displayed as code in the Markdown-compatible chat.

   I am finding that Lumo is shockingly good at the type of math I do, professionally.

11. Add the ability to upload images from Photo Library on iOS

    There is no way to upload the images in my iPhone photo library as part of my prompt. The only options I see when I click the “Attachments” button are to either upload a file or select a file from Proton Drive. Even if I click “Save to Files” on my photo in the photo library, I can’t upload it to Lumo because, Lumo doesn’t support the iOS photo format.

12. Implement Screen Reader Accessibility Improvements in the Lumo Web and iOS Apps

    As a Lumo user who relies on screen reader technology to access my iPhone, I have several suggestions that would make the Lumo app significantly easier for low vision folks to use. Because it seems the web version of Lumo behaves pretty similarly to the iOS app, I'll focus on the iOS app but do consider these same suggestions for the web app, as well.

    Make prompts and responses into single focusable blocks

    For an example of this, turn on the VoiceOver screen reader in iOS and observe how it behaves in the Facebook iOS app news feed. Although a Facebook post in the feed is comprised of many elements - user's photo, name, date/time, post contents, interaction controls, etc - it is treated like one single element. When you touch a post on the screen, its entire contents will be read from top to bottom, from user's name to content to interaction controls. When you single-finger flick left or right, you can very easily move up and down in the feed, from post to post, without having VoiceOver's focus land on every individual element of each post.
    A Lumo response is similar, being comprised of multiple elements, but using VoiceOver with it is tough because focus lands on each element, making it tedious to read through a lengthy back-and-forth conversation. Do like Facebook and make each entire user prompt and each entire response each a single element apiece. This ties into my next suggestion.

    Support VoiceOver rotar actions for sent prompts and Lumo responses

    VoiceOver includes gestures to iterate through context menu-like options based on what element has VoiceOver focus. In facebook, for example, if a post in the feed has focus, the user can single-finger swipe up and down to hear different actions for that post, such as Like, Comment, Save, Hide and so on -- essentially the actions that would be logical based on the context.
    For a Lumo response, these could be what currently visually apear below a response, like Good Response, Submit Feedback, Copy, etc.

    Prepend an html heading (h1-h6) element to the top of each prompt and response

    This can be seen in the ChatGPT web app, where there's a level 5 heading like, "You Said:" followed by your prompt, and then a level 6 heading for the response, like "ChatGPT said:". This makes it so much easier for the user to quickly locate the start of a long response or navigate back through prior prompts and responses in the conversation. Screen readers provide keyboard gestures to quickly navigate by headings.

    Use ARIA "polite" regions to indicate response generation status

    This is another idea we can borrow from ChatGPT. Once you submit a prompt, the screen reader announces, "ChatGPT is generating a response..." This announcement is repeated every several seconds, until the response has completed streaming. This helps the user know when they can reliably read back through the response and know its complete.
    When the response is done streaming, it should trigger the screen reader to read the entire response. This makes the experience with a screen reader super seamless -- I type and send a prompt, I hear an update as Lumo generates its response, and I hear the response itself once it's ready. I want to emphasize using live region elements with the "polite" attribute, not alert elements, as alert elements are intrusive and will interrupt any currently spoken text, whereas polite regions will not be spoken if the screen reader is reading other text. THey will wait and speak the region once the speech buffer has cleared.

    Display The Vertical Scroll Bar

    In the iOS Lumo app, there is no scroll bar that can receive VoiceOver focus, making it challenging to scroll through a long conversation. Please make sure the standard iOS scroll bar is available, enabled, visible, active and focusable by VoiceOver.

    While not a comprehensive list of what needs fixing from a screen reader standpoint in Lumo, these are some high-value ideas that would make the app so much easier and more enjoyable for blind and low vision users. Thank you for considering them!

    The latest update changed the look and feature of the iOS Widget. It now suggests actions and shows a text instead of Lumo the cat like before.

15. Lumo create/work Integration into built-in or desktop known/widely used apps

    Lumo- Allow the command to generate in built-in known applications on windows/Linux such as photoshop, adobe, unity. Much like using chatgpt commanding it to create an image and it generates a image using adobe etc. Allow Lumo to do this, to Integrate and create/work things faster/get things done in encryption/anontymity without having to go to ChatGpt or using Windows Monitored/Data Collected Co-pilot A.I and etc.

    Request for a native macOS application. Currently, the web-only experience forces reliance on browser-based workarounds that introduce privacy risks and workflow friction. A native app would eliminate browser extension vulnerabilities and provide a seamless, secure creative workspace.

    I chose Lumo specifically for its zero-access encryption and no-logs policy. However, the lack of a native macOS app creates significant barriers:

    1. Browser Extension Vulnerabilities: Even with a clean browser profile, extensions with "read page content" permissions pose a theoretical risk to sensitive creative work.
    2. Workflow Friction: Tab switching, bookmark clutter, and browser notifications interrupt creative flow.
    3. Missing Native Features: No macOS-native shortcuts, widgets, or system integration (e.g., Spotlight search, keyboard shortcuts, menu bar access).
    4. Inconsistent Experience: iOS/iPadOS has native apps, but Mac users are left with a web-only solution despite being a core Proton platform.

    Why This Matters? Mac is the dominant platform for creative professionals. By excluding a native Mac app, Proton is effectively excluding a major segment of privacy-conscious users who need Lumo most.

    Specific Requests:

    1. Native macOS App (.dmg/.app): A standalone application that runs independently of Safari/Chrome, eliminating browser extension risks.
    2. macOS Integration: Keyboard shortcuts (Cmd+K for quick actions) Menu bar access for quick prompts Widgets for iOS/Mac (like the iOS widget mentioned in Proton's documentation) Spotlight search integration
    3. Offline Caching: Ability to access recent chat history locally (encrypted) when internet is unavailable.
    4. Push Notifications: Native macOS notifications for Lumo Plus features or important updates.

    Comparison to Competitors? Most AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) offer native desktop apps for Mac. Proton's privacy-first positioning should lead in this area, not lag.

    Why Now? With Lumo's growth and Proton's commitment to the "EuroStack" initiative, a native Mac app would demonstrate leadership in privacy-first AI tools for professional users. It would also align with Proton's existing native apps (Mail, Drive, Pass, VPN) that all have macOS versions.

    Impact? A native Mac app would:
    1. Eliminate browser-based attack vectors for sensitive work
    2. Improve creative workflow efficiency
    3. Attract professional writers and enterprises to the Proton ecosystem

18. DICTATION PRIVACY

    As a privacy-focused user, I am hesitant to use voice input because of the 'whenever possible' clause. I need a mandatory 'On-Device Only' toggle in settings. If the on-device model cannot transcribe a phrase, the app should fail locally rather than routing to the server. Without this hard constraint, I cannot trust the voice feature for sensitive conversations

19. Create tentative/optional events in Calendar

    I need to track events where my attendance is optional, and I may be the creator of that event.

    If I get an invitation to which I have not replied, the event is marked tentative, but if I create it that is not an option. It should be.
