How can we improve Proton Calendar?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

  1. Show more events per day in month view on iOS

    Month view on iOS on smaller phones (iPhone 8) now only allows to display two events for each day.
    Google Calendar, in comparison, shows up to four, which is much more practical.

    The month view should be optimized for practicality:
    - the day numbers and its margins are unnecessarily large. They should be reduced to a minimum.
    - the space at the top of the screen can be optimized as well. There's quite a large gap between the name of the month and the actual calendar grid. This blank space should be minimized so that the space for events is…

  2. Faster access to one day event notification (drop down or set default)

    Add One Day to the drop down for event notifications. A notification on the day before is the most common needed, yet it is missing from the choices… and making a custom one each time is a time killer.

  5. Allow line breaks in the Description field of a calendar entry in the iOS app

    On both mobile and desktop the web interface of Proton Calendar allows the Description field of a calendar entry to have multiple lines. In the iOS version of the Proton Calendar app the Return button does not appear on the on-screen keyboard when editing the Description, preventing the user from entering line breaks. The iOS app does allow a user to view multi-line text that has been entered using the web interface.     The new feature public holidays feature was fascinating! However, I couldn't find my country on the list and I wish to help resolve this matter.

  8. Support for ISO 8601 date formats (YYYY-MM-DD)

    • have an option to display dates in a sane, superior, internationally standardized format...
    • allow users to enter dates like "2024-05-08" when creating an event, instead of having to type "May 08, 2024" which is an annoying hindrance.
    • bonus points if you let me paste "2024-05-08T14:45" and it update the time field too.

  11. Export event in ICS

    Being able to import ICS files for single events I'm invited to has been awesome. But I don't always have the email addresses of people I want to send my own event invites to and having an ICS file I can export for a single event would make it a lot easier to invite people to events across calendar platforms. The work around now is to create a separate calendar for the even and then export that calendar. But that's not an ideal solution.

  12. Week View in IOS

    It is really important for me to have a weekly overview. Please enter this possibility in IOS. Like it is possible on Android Phones. At the moment I need to use Google. But I don't want to use Google. I already use Proton Mail and Drive. So far I am happy with your Prodacts.

  13. Many important dates are missing from US holiday calendar

    The recently added holiday calendars are a great addition, but I find that the holidays included for my country are too limited. I live in the US, and what our government designates as "official" holidays lacks a large number of significant holidays and other important dates.

    Some notable holiday exclusions include Father's Day, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, and even Easter!

    As for other important dates that are missing, Tax Day, Election Day, and the start and end of Daylight Saving Time may not be holidays, but they are still very important dates to know!

  14. When will we be able to change calendars on iPhone?

    When I put an Appointment into my calendar on my iPhone and forget to change it from My Calendar to my Appointment calendar I still cannot go back and change it.

  17. Holidays and Observances Filter

    Hi, I live in South Africa and with our multi cultural nation there are many days that your calendar shows that are important days for the different religions and cultures, but are not "official" public holidays according to government.

    I would suggest that some filter so users can at least decide to see only "official" public holidays or all like you have now.

    First prize would be to have checkbox filter by category for example:
    * Official Public Holidays and Observances
    * Christian Holidays and Observances
    * Hindu Holidays and Observances

  18. Missing in the time zone (+1GMT) the capital of Croatia, Zagreb which is in the EU too!

    In the time zone settings (+1GMT), the calendar does not include Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, on the list of EU cities! On the list of capital cities in the EU, which are +1GMT, there is, for example, Serbian Belgrade, which is not in the European Union! Do you discriminate against Croatia and favor Serbia?

  19. Automatic Update Alerts For New Entries In Shared Calendars

    I am experiencing a challenge with Proton Calendar in our family's shared calendar setup. The current issue is the absence of automatic notifications when someone with edit access adds a new event. As it stands, my spouse and I manually notify each other after creating an entry, but this method is prone to human error. If one of us forgets to communicate, the only reminders we receive are through the calendar's default notifications.

  20. Need expanded shared calendar permissions

    Under permissions for shared calendars, it needs a few more options.

    Currently when sharing with other proton users there is only:
    - View only
    - view and edit

    We need a few more options:
    - View as free/busy (contents hidden, only time blocks visible)
    - View all details (standard view only)
    - View and Edit (able to view and edit/create/delete events)
    - view, edit, and manage sharing (able to view, edit/create/delete events, and manage sharing - invite, remove, etc - of calendar)

    This beneficial for individuals, freelancers, businesses, families, etc.
