This is a must!

Same preceding comments: this is a simple yet critical feature that makes me stick with Google Calendar.

Just logged in to point out that when I imported my google calendar all my (recurring) tasks (this is what google calls reminders now) were left out and saw this thread.
If this weren't the case I would completely ditch google calendar and start using Proton. Until Proton implements tasks and successfully imports them I'm (VERY reluctantly) sticking with google.

A value add here that would be a differentiator from Google Tasks is being able to share a task with other individuals.

Honestly the tool to beat is Notesnook

A replacement for "keep notes" would be ideal.
with easy notes and easy tickbox lists.
nothing else I can find comes close to keepnotes for a mobile app in terms of ease and usability and I really want away Google full stop! -

Cannot support his enough!! Proton has to implement this

The ability to add recurring reminders to a to-do list would also be good. That’s the most useful part of the Reminders app on iOS.

It would be nice to host a AnyType Server (https://doc.anytype.io/anytype-docs/data-and-security/data-storage-and-deletion/self-hosting)
AnyType is awesome and opensource -

A replacement for "Keep Notes" / "To-Do" would just be great!!!
I want to use "G" as little as possible! -

This is one of two things keeping me from switching my business account to Proton.
This "Proton Task" function is the more important item for me.

I'd like to move 100% away from Google Calendar and the task list and "sticky" notes are the only things really making me stay there.

I just wanted to propose it turns out that there are already people who think the same as me.
This is a great idea, please consider this app (proton to-do).
This is a great productivity app, because everyone, all companies, all workers, all students use to-do to schedule their daily tasks (apart from calendar apps).

I'd really appreciate the ability to add To Dos to Proton Calendar, with features such as a Due By date where the to-do item would automatically appear as an all-day event on that date in the calendar...and if the due date was passed with the item not yet marked as 100% complete the item would continue to appear as an all-day event for the current date highlighted as 'Past Due', until marked as 100% complete (or deleted). Two of the best PIMs I've used were DateBk5 on my Sony CLIÉ (PalmOS) device and (IBM) Lotus Organizer on Windows...both of which had many useful productivity and usability features in their calendar and to-do functions that are sadly missing from today's offerings. It would be terrific if Proton could include many of these capabilities into Proton Calendar.

Agree with other comments
At least important:
- chance to set a "completed" state
- customizable repetition
- a listing view of all the tasks ordered in different ways (name, due date,...) -

Very useful at least tasks with the following basic features:
- chance to set a "completed" state
- customizable repetition
- a listing view of all the tasks ordered in different ways (name, due date,...) -

The only reason I don't currently use Proton Calendar and keep using Google Calendar is because it does not support creation of tasks like Google Calendar. If I could, I'd completely switch

I completely resonate with your sentiment. A privacy-focused Proton "to-do" app would be a game-changer, giving control back to users over their task management. Seamlessly integrating tasks with the calendar while respecting data privacy would be a dream https://ffstylishname.com
