   Reasonably proton docs is still missing a lot of features. Some improvements I've noticed it needs while using it are a page printer view, spacing variability, format memory (when starting a new line font and text size revert to default), precision font variability, better spacing with indented checkboxes, and an easy and elegant UI for viewing already created docs

2. Web site source code verification to mitigate compromised code

   I want to propose having web site source code verification. This would mitigate malicious code being service by the user web interface at proton[.]me. There are several tools, most famous being Meta's open source 'Code Verify' that uses published hashes.

   It's no secret that Proton's web interface is a weak point for password compromise - such as via a court order. My proposal would require Proton, or a trusted entity, posting the hashes of known good Proton.me interface web site code. By allowing Proton users to verify the web site code they are being served, this reduces the risk of their password being at risk.

3. Create a matrix client and homeserver

   Something i've noticed that proton is very good at is making sleek and smoothly working designs -- as such, for the purposes of providing a secure direct messaging app i think it would be optimal to have a proton hosted home-server, and also, a proton made client, because i think proton could use such a program, nad i think it would really be able to put some needed functionalities in the matrix protocol, like a good voip feature, as proton has a video calls program , and a good moderation managment system, and perhaps most importantly a good decryption encryption handling -because something ive noticed is that either you get closed systems like signal and telegram - which need phone numbers and dont really support multiaccount, and has a lot of payy for features that should be free, (like custom reactions, stickers and gifs), but also translation and such, which could be worked out with Lumo.

   also, i guess with the proton cloud and document features i guess it could cointeract with those for a convenient cooperation thingy, so that its convenient to upload and manage and chat and comment about work as its being done, a very good matrix compliant basically teams app, that also can be used as a fierce discord competitor.

   idk, im trying to sell you a bigger idea so that you can basically fix some things i think need polishing in matrix, because matrix is one of the few direct messaging apps that i trust, and i like that it, like the mail client would be part of like a federated communications protocol, which would be helpful for a lot of things and strengthen the encrypted communications field.

   and like element is doing a good job, but it would be nice with another big player in there to really make it viable aginst discord, zoom, and Teams, cause frankly im tired of classmates and colleagues making me use such spyware for everything...

6. Proton Android UX

   1. Adding the ability to synchronize folders to Proton Drive like on Windows computers would be very helpful, especially when working with documents, photos, or e-books.

   2. Unifying the framework/UI style across all apps, including removing the "delete account" button (I can't count how many times I was afraid to mess with settings because of it)

7. Sheet: Default Arrow Key navigation to "Edit Mode" (character-by-character)

   Currently, when a cell is active and I use the arrow keys, the focus jumps to the neighboring cell.

   I would prefer where using the Left/Right arrow keys moves the cursor between the characters within the active cell or formula bar instead of switching cells. Google Sheet does this as default.

   Example Scenario:

   • I have selected cell K10, which contains the text "Proton123".
   • The cell is active/focused.
   • When I press the Left Arrow key, I want the cursor to move between "3" and "2" inside the cell to allow for quick editing.
   • Current behavior: It jumps to cell J10.
   • Desired behavior: The cursor stays within K10, navigating the text string or formula.

8. Dedicated RSS feeds for individual categories in Proton Blog

   Proton publishes a whole bunch of good and useful information in their blog. They also publish a bunch of irrelevant content that doesn't interest me. These posts are already categorized. However there's only one RSS feed that shows ALL content. Please add a dedicated feed for your existing categories. It would be super easy.

9. Proton Sheets - Insert 1 Row does not appear to function correctly

   I have been working with Proton Sheets to ensure it is a replacement for Google Sheets. I desperately want the security that Proton offers. However, I have noticed that no matter how I go about it, when I add a row to an existing spreadsheet, some of the rows that get moved down lose their formatting and go blank. Re-formatting those rows using Proton Sheets formatting does not fix this; if another row is added, that row will still look blank (the text formatting seems to go to white, and thus can't be seen). Also, it seems some of the dependent formulae in elsewhere in the Sheet will not update relative references to account for the additional rows. This is very hard to troubleshoot to be confident all existing formulae remain correct.

   This is on an imported spreadsheet (downloaded from Sheets in XLSX, then imported to Proton Drive).

   Is this a known issue? I can consistently recreate this issue.

   Thanks for all you do. I'm hoping Sheets can be brought up to be a full replacement.

10. Proton ZeroTrust Gateway

    Product Concept Proton Zero‑Trust Gateway

    Vision

    Proton already protects outbound traffic through its VPN, giving users privacy and security when they connect to the internet. The next logical step is to give them the same level of confidence for inbound connections—letting them expose services (websites, APIs, SSH, RDP, IoT endpoints, etc.) without ever having to open ports or configure complex NAT rules. A “Zero‑Trust Gateway” would sit at the edge of a user’s network, authenticate every request, enforce fine‑grained policies, and only forward traffic that meets those policies to the private host.

    Core Pillars

    • Identity‑First Access – Every inbound request must present a verifiable identity before any traffic reaches the user’s device. Integration with existing Proton accounts (including Proton Pass for MFA, Proton ID for SSO, and optional third‑party IdPs) ensures that only authorized users can connect. The gateway can also support short‑lived access tokens, QR‑code scans, or email‑based approvals for ad‑hoc sharing.

    • Encrypted Tunnel‑to‑Tunnel – Once a request is authenticated, the gateway establishes an end‑to‑end encrypted tunnel directly to the user’s Proton VPN client. From the perspective of the public internet, the service appears to be hosted behind Proton’s globally distributed edge nodes, while the actual payload travels over the same privacy‑preserving infrastructure used for outbound VPN traffic.

    • Policy Engine – Users define per‑service policies that combine:

      • Who (specific Proton users, groups, or external identities)
      • When (time‑bound windows, geofencing)
      • How (allowed methods, rate limits, logging requirements) The engine evaluates each request in real time, rejecting anything that falls outside the defined parameters.

    User Experience Flow

    • Publish a Service – From the Proton dashboard or mobile app, the user selects “Expose Service,” chooses a local port or container, and assigns a friendly sub‑domain under *.protongateway.io. They then attach an access policy (e.g., “Only my team members” or “Anyone with a one‑time link”).

    • Share the Endpoint – The generated URL can be shared directly, embedded in an invitation email, or turned into a QR code. If the policy requires approval, the recipient receives a secure request that they can approve with their
      Proton Pass MFA.

    • Connect Securely – When a remote client accesses the URL, the edge node authenticates the request, establishes the encrypted tunnel, and forwards traffic to the user’s device over the existing Proton VPN tunnel. To the remote client, the service feels like a normal HTTPS endpoint; to the user, no inbound ports are opened.

    • Revenue Opportunity – Offer as part of Proton Plus/Professional tiers, with tiered limits on concurrent exposed services, bandwidth, and advanced policy features (e.g., geo‑blocking, custom TLS certificates).

    Potential Challenges & Mitigations

    • Performance Overhead – Adding an extra hop could increase latency. Mitigate by deploying edge nodes in key regions and using protocol‑level optimizations (QUIC, HTTP/3) for low‑latency paths.

11. Offer funds to Ladybird

    This one is a bit different, but consider offering financial support to the Ladybird project.

    It's arguably one of the most interesting open source projects around right now. Other privacy organisations and individuals are already viewing this project with great interest.

    Also, the Proton Foundation and Proton vpn each donated a grant back in 2024.

    Now, it's 2026. Two years have passed, and earlier funding has now come to fruition. The Ladybird project is about to launch an alpha release of their software. For that reason, I think the Proton Foundation and/or Proton services should consider offering another round of funds for the project.

    The Ladybird project still has a great overlap in values.

    What is Ladybird? Ladybird is an open source browser, which is the first browser in decades that is independent from Google.

    Why fund Ladybird? With their coming alpha release, the project is more promising than ever. When it releases, I think it will break news in tech circles. The current browser landscape is dominated by Google. Before you say, "but Firefox"... Look, yes, Mozilla is a competitor, and it is a great browser, but it's still dependent on Google for funding.

    I would personally argue that the browser is the most important piece of software on any device, anywhere today. The current landscape of the web is not a static. It's continuously evolving, but it's all Google owned or influenced. We can observe that Google is using its dominance to make the web less private.

    There needs to be an alternative, and as much have used and still use Firefox, they are in an unfortunate marriage with Google.

    For that reason I think Ladybird is an interesting contender for another round of funding.

12. Access the ecosystem through Reticulum / Mestastic or similar

    Due to recent geopolitical issues I have found myself without a connection to the internet, and have realised how dependent I was on infrastructure that can be controlled and restricted, I then discovered open source decentralised comunication systems such as Meshtastic, Meshcore or Reticulum and I would love to access my inbox from anywhere without relying on the normal internet.

    Similar to apkmirror or aurora store, it could work cross-platform, so we don't have to use Google on Android, Microsoft on Windows, or if one simply wants to explore apps, without border restrictions, it could link the vpn to the store so it doesn't apply changes due to where your Google account is based or geolocation

15. Different font sizes and other appearance settings for each app

    I need a different font size in Calendar and Mail since they are a completely different experience and use wildly different real estate on the screen for their elements.
    Currently, changing the appearance settings is common to both, and it's making me sad ;)

18. Share calendar with events from multiple calendars

    Currently with the "share calendar" feature that allows other people to see your availability, you can only share one calendar individually. For example, if you have a Work calendar and a Personal calendar, you would have to create two different share links/invites, and they would be viewed separately by the other person. It would be nice to be able to have one link I can give that shows events from all selected calendars, either as full details or just the more private "event scheduled" block.

    Either that, or being able to create a calendar that automatically inherits events from other calendars, including new ones.

    People are busier now than ever, so much falls through the cracks. They are willing to respond but often forget to. Please build a feature that reminds users to follow-up on sent emails that haven't been responded to. Google Messages has that functionality and it's been incredibly helpful for me

20. Universal Proton client

    It would be very useful to implement your proton email client so one could add also other email clients in (google, exchange,...). Really like the mail app, and would like to use it as my daily driver, but since I have also work emails I need to check regulary and do not want to have two email clients installed, I just use outlook/gmail. Sure I can add my proton account to outlook, but that kinda looses the whole idea on having a secure email.
