Proton Browser
Proton Browser
I would Like to see a Browser like chrome, firefox, or Brave. But without the tracking and also it being based in the same location as protonmail would mean its secure and safe to use.
With companys like google buying up all the alternative browsers I think this a needed program/app. What good is the secure email when Chrome is snap shoting and keylogging your protonmail logins.

I dislike Google Chrome very much and prefer DuckDuckGo. Unfortunately, Kaspersky Internet Security does not offer Real Time Protection when browsing, hence stuck with Chrome. Please develop your own browser. Thank you.

I love the idea because of how the current browsers stuck and lack lots of security features, I have had issues with all of them, They all lack Privacy things, and that is why it is needed. yes, some are better than others. because of how Chrome and Firefox are open source, some what it would not be that hard, to build one, after they got started, they would have to add more privacy things. Yes I have tried Chrome, Epic, Brave, Firefox and many others and in my thoughts they all suck when it comes to privacy.

Brave is imo already a good browser

So divert dev into doing what, reinventing Chromium?
Better Idea: Support TOR.

If this idea is not possible, it could be a good alternative an aliance with Mozilla or Brave.

There is no need really. I would say Mozilla Firefox paired with DuckDuckGo and ProtonVPN does the job well.

Please do not waste your resources on creating a browser when so many options already exist. I’m sure if you did make one that it would be great, however I would much rather have your core services be top notch than to have another browser available. Firefox, Tor, & Brave are already available for those wanting a “private” browsing experience.

This is a novel idea but would probably be too expensive to be practical.

Firefox has the "Focus" version for Android/Kindle. Blocks trackers but has minimal feature set.

So that no LogIns are tapped one also does not use a manual LogIn but chooses this via password manager !!
Before Proton publishes a browser, there are much more important topics! -

There's already Firefox, Brave, DuckDuckGo Mobile Browser and basically all but Chrome and Edge/IE to choose from

The original poster clearly failed to do their research. Everything they want is already available in other projects that are doing a fine job. "Proton browser" is not needed nor worth the effort.

Please don't re-invent the wheel. Excellent alternatives "without the tracking" already exist, including Brave and Firefox. This would be a waste of Proton's resources.

Hi, I use DuckDuckGo, Start Page, and Mozilla Firefox Browser. An extreme, but I also use two (2) Independent Cell Phones (Iphone 6+ and new Samsung Galaxy Note 9). I trust the Iphone. I do not trust Android / Google / Gmail / Chrome, etc. My Iphone has contact info, emails (Protonmail, msn exchange and Icloud), and other private info only on that phone.
The Galaxy Note 9 has NO email except for small forced Gmail, with less than 10 contacts, with only initials for contacts. Otherwise detailed info hand written in a paper Composition Book. Location turned off, but that is meaningless to Android. No transfer to Cloud(s), either cell phone.
Also NO transfer of old phone data to new Galaxy Note 9, except by USB cable direct from PC.
In short I consider Android / Google / Gmail = Spyware. Caution and Best practices on what is stored on those Phones and Clouds.

Please proton do not think this is a good idea.
This is a waste of your precious time. -

Oh yes, I would support that along with a search engine without ads or placed results.

I agree with Mar's recent comment. I've recently started using the DuckDuckGo search engine plugin with Mozilla FireFox and it works very nicely. (By the way, I've recenty learned that Mozilla Firefox allows you to create an account, so it synchs my bookmarks between my ios phone & my laptop, which is handy).
I think DuckDuckGo also has a plugin for Safari, but Safari has some compatibility issues with ProtonMail in some respects (can't remember what, but I saw it on this site somewhere - so Mozilla Firefox seems a safer bet; maybe it was the private browsing mode of Safari that was the problem - if so then DuckDuckGo with Mozilla actually gives you even more privacy than that). Hope this helps!
