ProtonKeyboard?
I do not trust any default keyboard(s) provided by Apple, samsung, google
it would be nice to have open-source Keyboard by proton

Not a priority. We have great options like Futoboard or Heliboard

There are a lot of Open Source Keyboards out there, look at FUTO for example. Just because Proton does open Source dosnt mean it can make all the apps you need on it's own, there are other companies, collectives and people out there also doing great work :>

Well if you download any app tracker app for android now you can clearly see bugsnag 3rd party software cross-app tracking from inside Proton Drive now between that an AI im done trusting proton as well.

I'm leaning towards the 'existing alternatives' crowd. However, this is from the FUTO Homepage:
"FUTO Keyboard is currently in alpha. We want to build a stable keyboard, but in alpha you may experience bugs, crashes, or missing features."
On the upside, they do support opt-in data collection, so they can use data aggregation to improve design and performance, while nobody has to agree to a set of already-shady or alterable TOS (-=Samsung...=- ). -

FUTO is not open source, but it is source available, meaning it's code is auditable. The keyboard is very capable.

I can confirm that FUTO keyboard is a good keyboard app, I've been using it for more than a year on all my android devices. It is 100% offline and even has voice input (also offline).

Use FUTO. Even has the ability for on-device, no internet needed voice recognition. Solid keyboard.

Yeah the new privacy notice from Samsung is out and they made it clear that they keep your voice recordings from the keyboard.... Creepy intrusive and out of bounds if you ask me we already know Google is with the gboard...

It's a good idea, but I think that first of all, they should build an internet browser, it only takes a week to build this keyboard, it's not a difficult project.

Use AOSP keyboard

When OS keyboards can act as glorified key loggers with AI in tow, this becomes ever more urgent. FUTO seems to work but does poorly on Android devices. For a complete privacy focused suite, this matters.

The openkeyboard forks (heliboard and florisboard) as well as FUTO are good options.
Heliboard I have been using for 2 years, it is very mature, with many options and works very well for many less common languages.
Floris is still very green, especially for minority languages.
FUTO is a great project but it is progressing very slowly and only works well in English. Also, I think it has an opensource part but I think another part doesn't (I'm not sure).
Heliboard is quite mature and could easily be exploited to refine it further, especially in new word prediction, more recent updates and some minor extras. -

Currently use SwiftKey, which was purchased by Microsoft not too long ago. I would very much like an effective keyboard which is also privacy/security oriented.

You can download FlorisBoard from f-droid, you need an offline keyboard. Doesn´t make sense this.
