   The openkeyboard forks (heliboard and florisboard) as well as FUTO are good options.
   Heliboard I have been using for 2 years, it is very mature, with many options and works very well for many less common languages.
   Floris is still very green, especially for minority languages.
   FUTO is a great project but it is progressing very slowly and only works well in English. Also, I think it has an opensource part but I think another part doesn't (I'm not sure).
   Heliboard is quite mature and could easily be exploited to refine it further, especially in new word prediction, more recent updates and some minor extras.
