Proton Drive Integration with Android Default Storage
I haven't yet found a way to set Proton Drive as a default storage location on Android within the "My Files" functionality which drives selectable save options for most file save actions. Obviously, Google Drive is available along with MS OneDrive, internal storage, SD storage and network storage. Having Proton Drive set here would make file management much easier on Android mobile.

Would be greate to make Proton Drive usable with Obsidian..!

Heeey, it would be much easier with a native Obsidian vaults + Proton Drive sync, neither 3-rd part sync apps we use now..

We need this to be able to synch Obsidian vaults with Proton Drive.

Why has this not started yet? 😢 I don't even understand how the Android app is worth installing like this compared to just going to the application in the browser. This is a MUST-have for:
- Launcher and other app backups.
- Connecting notes (Obsidian, for example).
- Music (I rip my own CDs and back them up in Drive to sync them to devices).
- Syncing my RSS feed list to RSS applications.
- Opening my synced photos in a photo editor.Currently, it is such a pain to do or not possible at all. I have to manually download, change, (re)upload, or use apps like SyncThing. Or just give up on it working entirely.
I'd traded ALL photo related functionalities just for this. Get the basics right first. 🙏🏻
Just to add to the privacy concerns: I get it, but perfection is the enemy of good. If this doesn't work, we have to use other solutions that are WAY more privacy invasive (other clouds, other services that sync, manually moving them to the device, etcetera). Give the people the option to be as safe and as private as possible, but also give them the option to accept the risk if needed. It will still be better than doing the same in a less private and safe cloud.

Spotify just upped their monthly price to an absurd $20 a month for a duo plan (that began at $12 when we started...) and I've been looking to instead use that money to buy an album a month and start building up a music library I own, and it'd be great to sync my music to my phone!

Would also like to voice a request for this functionality specifically to help me set up my Obsidian Vault, but I know it will be beneficial to many other apps in the long run

Wanted to also add another active voice to this thread. I'm moving away from using TictTic task manager to using Obsidian. On windows I can set a folder in Pdrive to be an Obsidian vault, but Obsidian (on android) can't see any of my Pdrive folders and this makes syncing on mobile unavailable. I now have to setup a more convoluted syncing solution, that requires 3rd party programs to work. At least having 1 specific "Multi-Device" folder on Pdrive for android would avoid this hassle.

This would change my life. To me without this functionality the android app is nearly useless.

It is a critical feature for daily use. Let the user decide which files can live unencrypted on the android device. Or make it like the windows app there we can access the files from any other app, so the difference is unclear to me

let me have this and you can just say "choosing to accept this means your willing to accept more privacy concerns". I just want this to get out off google drive and to use obsidian

This is critical. I want EVERYTHING in my Proton Drive, but I can't expect them to build in all of MY preferred tools. This lets me use Proton Drive across my laptop, computer, and android phone and keep everything there. Having local folder integration with Android on my phone is the same risk as having folder integration with Windows on my laptop. A risk I am willing to take because it enables so much more of my workflow.

for me, this kind of integration is the number one use case for proton drive

Yep. Trying to stay out of multiple clouds, but without this support this is a tough one on mobile.

I really need this.
I'm on an Unlimited plan but the drive functions are basically non existent... and not being able to pick photos from proton on android might be a deal breaker
