What is missing from every email provider but why Outlook (old) is so strong, you can save emails on your PC so that they are never lost even if you change PC and email provider, and you don't need maximum storage.

  2. Add a way to connect to a Proton account that will allow limited access

It could be useful to be able to connect into a Proton account from an untrusted device, without compromising our main password. For exemple when we visit a country that has a high chance to hack our device.

This could be a new password used for that purpose. To be secured, when we connect with that password, we shouldn't be able to edit the account settings. There could be restrictions on action that can be performed like we can't delete files in proton drive or we can't see the password of some service in Proton Pass. The best would be…

  3. app lock

This is primarily focused on the desktop version of the application. On my iOS device, I can already require Face ID, but I’d love to see enhancements to the App Lock feature in Proton Mail and Authenticator. Specifically, adding the option to use biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) or a passcode would provide an extra layer of security and convenience. This would give users greater flexibility in protecting access to their 2FA codes while also aligning with best practices for securing sensitive applications.

  4. Encryption keys

Would it be possible to implement a function for re-encryption with a new key, both for email keys and the account key?

Also, one more thing – it would be great to have the option to reinitialize Proton Drive or Lumo AI directly from the settings. Currently, changing keys requires contacting support, which could be avoided with this feature.

  5. Bad Proton Mail UX

Proton Mail has multiple glitches that significantly reduce the practical utility of this email service.

    • After years, Proton refuses to persist the Unread filter across inbox refreshes, new Web browser tabs, and application relaunches. Gmail does NOT have this unnecessary UX problem. My first experience opening Proton Mail immediately upsets me, every time.
    • Sending emails often takes many, many seconds to complete, compared to other email services. Sending emails with Proton Mail feels sluggish.
    • After several months of using Proton Mail, I discovered that dozens of my emails hadn't actuall been sent, they had all been stuck as drafts. This…

  6. Full API-Support

Proton is promoted as THE European, privacy-friendly alternative to the major US cloud providers. Unfortunately, many important features are missing. In addition, many desktop applications vary depending on the operating system or are not available at all (Proton Drive for Linux). Proton itself refers to the necessary support from the community.

In order for genuine community engagement to be possible at all, Proton should completely open, document, version, and maintain the compatibility of all existing APIs. Then it would finally be possible to establish open source tooling (SDKs, utilities, e.g., for migration tasks, etc.) around Proton.

    This would also make…

  7. Simple Login: Support DMARC reports

Currently SimpleLogin supports DMARC for user contolled domains, although does not provide the integrated possiblity to monitor dmarc for anomalies.

As such it would be a great addition to include the functionality to send dmarc reports (via the rua/ruf tag) to a simplelogin controlled email.
This would allow users to monitor for possible misconfigurations, and if emails might be abused, by third parties if there are DKIM/SPF failures.
It would be nice, if human readable reports can be generated out of this and if they were optionally send on a regular basis (e.g. once a month) to the…

  8. proton vpn

Hello Proton Group, I downloaded and installed Proton VPN, but after several hours and two days, I was unable to log in to my account. What is the reason for this and the strictness of the desktop version? Like the others, can you provide an easy installation and login, or, like Psiphon, a very lightweight version that does not require installation? I completely deleted it and installed Hotspot Shield. I also had a login problem with my Proton Mail. I can’t describe how much pain it caused me. I couldn’t log into my mailbox, and it showed an error every…

  9. Proton Boost

Could we have a Proton plan that is in-between Mail Plus and Proton Unlimited? We could call it Proton Boost. It would cost $5.99 (or if needed I suppose $6.99).
    It would include features of:
    + 1 user
    + 1 custom email domain
    + 10 email aliases/addresses
    + 300 GB of storage
+ Feature access to 15 calendars
+ Feature access to 10 high-speed VPN connections
+ Feature access to Proton Drive (300 GB)
    + Proton Sentinel program

Studying as a student, a plan like thus would be helpful to maintain the privacy needed but also help with the affordability!…

  10. A privacy-first fundraiser needs a privacy-proof checkout (Proton Wallet / no KYC)

I want to support Proton via the 2025 Lifetime Fundraiser raffle, but the current “crypto” checkout can require BitPay KYC (name, address, ID). That’s fundamentally incompatible with a privacy-first fundraiser: it requires supporters to hand sensitive identity documents to a third-party processor just to buy a raffle ticket.

Please add a privacy-proof crypto checkout with a direct “Pay with Proton Wallet” option: generate a unique Bitcoin address/QR per order, confirm the on-chain payment, then issue the raffle ticket automatically.

  12. delete button order

I'm used to Delete being the 3rd button in Gmail, I delete every email I read and don't need to keep. It's too far on the left and the confusing and unfamiliar button order is getting too difficult to get used to.

The best would be the ability to fully customize the email action button order, but just having an alternate order where delete is more aligned with the most used client, Gmail would be very welcome.

T for Trash is also strange for me, I'd expect it to be D for delete.

So, apples to oranges. But if I…

  13. Sign in with Proton/SSO

Email aliases are just hard to use in that you need to open Proton Pass (not Proton Mail!?) app to create one, then go back to the website that timed out, log in and then remember to save your password.

Sign in with Proton could have an easier way to sign in with passkeys and just be more convenient with the option to share only an alias

  14. Unique File Links for each item in Proton Drive (without public sharing)

Generate a unique link to individual files that aren’t publicly accessible.
In Google Drive, right click any file > share > copy link

You get a link to that file which you can add in to my own files, into docs, calendar entries, etc. In this way, I've built out my own system, where I once logged in, I can navigate from calendar to an important contract, or from docs / sheets, to an associated PDF / image, etc.

Include support, so that the linked files open in the relevant app, not kicking the user out of the mobile app…

  15. Multi-select/delete

Please add a feature to select and delete multiple filters, folders, and labels. I just had to manually delete over a hundred of them.

  16. Log in with QR code

I'm using Proton Pass for all logins. But to start using it on a new device I have to manually enter my Proton password there. It would be very nice to be able to scan a QR code by already logged in device instead.

Here is an example of this feature implemented: https://help.kagi.com/kagi/privacy/log-in-with-qr-code.html

  18. Mass unsharing in Proton Drive

For the folks that share a lot of drives, it can be quite a hassle selecting each individual item in the share tab to stop sharing. It would be cool if we could select all of them and unshare with one click.

  19. Don't use Proton username when sending calendar invites

I use custom domains, partly to avoid giving any personal information to services that don't need it, and partly as an added layer of security for my Proton account. I've never (intentionally) shared my Proton username with anyone. I noticed when sending a calendar invite that it included my Proton username. Can we either get a separate field for invites, or can this be updated to use the existing user-specified display name field?

  20. Search function in Standard Notes

Add the ability for text search within individual notes in Standard Notes. I have some loooong list style notes and it's very tedious to have to go through manually to check what's in there.
