How can we improve Proton Pass?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. An option to deactivate an item or a vault

    It could be an option at vault level, or single item level, that allows you to deactivate an item or a vault of items. This way you could exclude these items from searching and current use of Pass without putting them into the Trash.

  2. Add equivalent URLs setting to avoid creating/maintaining duplicate passwords

    Many sites redirect to another location to authenticate or use different URLs to connect to essentially the same site. LastPass has an extendable database to allow for this. For example: bing.com hotmail.com live.com microsoft.com msn.com windows.com windowsazure.com office.com skype.com azure.com. These use the same login. The ones that are well known can be provided as a default set (editable, obviously), but also allow the user to add their own as they discover them.

  5. Microsoft Autofill/Authenticator import

    Current workaround is to export from Microsoft Autofill/Authenticator, import to Edge. Export from Edge then import to Proton Pass.

  8. Tags to organize entries

    I've used 1Password and Bitwarden. They are both lack of generic feature - organization of entries.

    Dealing with Search is a great way. But just full text search makes search results somekind of mess.

    Having ability to Tag passwords and other entry types will make UX much better:
    - search results can be ranked by tag names, titles and only then other fields
    - ability to Pin tags into sidebar can be very handy (do not list all the available tags like 1Password do - it's useless)
    - tags help to create many view perspectives onto my data

  10. Reorder Items for Logins etc.

    Enpass User. Could we have the ability to reorder fields at will? As an example,

    I create two Password Fields, but with the current version, they are stuck at the bottom. Being able to move them under Username/Email saves me time from having to copy them out, or if I want to quickly see how many times I have created a New Password on this login page.

    Also, some login pages are vastly different from others in the information I put in them, so being able to concisely organize that quickly would be awesome.

  11. Emergency access

    Many password managers offer an Emergency Access feature whereby in the event of something happening to you a family member/trusted friend can gain access to your password vaults. Once you set them up, they can request access. if you do not reject access in whatever number of days you specify, then they gain access. This is a nice assurance that a family member can access your info if something happens to you without having to share your login info with them now.

  12. Forward alias to more than main account email

    You can create multiple alias linked to multiple account but you can only use one "forward to" email.
    Why not having a feature to allow adding other email address, for accounts previously created with another emails we can update the login email by using alias but we must have the forward to email not static.

    Authy allows me to open up and see my 2FA codes on my watch and I would love it if Pass could do the same!

  14. Use Proton app as 2FA without having to log in

    I would like to use the Proton Password Manager for 2FA on my Proton Account instead of another authenticator. However, this is currently impossible since you have to login to Proton to use the app. Is it possible to incorporate 2FA for Proton on the home screen without logging in? So we can use an official Proton app for our Proton 2FA.

  15. Folders and nested subfolders

    I want to be able to use folders and sub-folders. I use strongbox on iOS which is based on keepass. It allows for as many folders and sub-folders that you want. I use folders to keep my stuff organized. I don't like having all my passwords and whatever in one big long list. I also using keepass as a bookmark manager. I really like the idea of your "vaults", but again I have over like 3000 bookmarks and folders are really needed. Also attachments with built in viewer is also important.   18. Form Fill Shortcut

    Needs a shortcut to fill out forms automatically like Ctrl-Shift-L that Bitwarden has. This feature is critical when you use only a keyboard for browsing.

  19. Export proton passwords to file for backup purposes

    Exporting Proton passwords is critical for me. Having this additional assurance would put my mind at ease. No matter how well your servers are backed up.

    This may seem unsecure but the export will be uploaded to a OneDrive Personal Vault location; which IS secure.

    Of course; the ability to import back into Proton is also needed.

  20. Add an expiration date to password

    A feature that exists in keepass.
    Once the password expired, proton pass could show a notification warning the user that the password should be changed
