I brought this subject up over 2 years ago.

I’m very disappointed Proton still haven’t made any visual GUI improvements or added these visual categories in any way.

1Passwords left fixed column of visually appealing icons of categories. Is fundamental and functional.

Poor form Proton.

It’s been two years and still no major improvements for user experience or styling.

This outdated version of Show or Sort by is pathetic, lacking functionality and visually dull.

Who needs to sort by: Most Recent, Oldest to Newest etc….

Enough already, just add this fixed column of categories and add a favourites icon at the top or along the footer of the column.

I have more than hundred different passwords which are nor nicely grouped into hierarchical folders in KeePass. For example I have Shopping folder under which I have folders like: Media, Clothes, Household, Food etc. Each of these contain dozens of passwords. Having a flat list in Proton Pass feels really like late 90-s. Vaults are for me for different purpose (e.g. sharing) and they also lack hierarchy. I started using Proton for job-related passwords but I will not move personal ones from KeePass until either Vault hierarchy or folders inside vaults are enabled.

Agreed. Categories, tags, subfolders, all within a vault. These are all super important features for proton pass

I would break this suggestion into 2 parts:

1. Having categories or tags for items WITHIN a vault. e.g., within personal vault I may want categories like Email Services (Gmail and Outlook) and Mobile Services (Apple and Samsung Accounts)

2. Having sub-folders WITHIN a vault, vaults are usually too broad in context, e.g., Personal, Work, and you may need to further classify credentials into folders. You may need a folder to save credentials for 'Customer Service Agent Accounts' under the Work Vault.

I would say this is really related to the degree of freedom and customisation available - cannot see reasons for not having them. Introducing them will only enrich user experience.

Bitwarden allows users to organize items in folders. I use this extensively. Not having this feature in ProtonPass is a huge bummer. I won't migrate from Bitwarden until this feature is included.

Without the ability to create folders (i.e., social media, shopping, email, banking, etc.) for my various credentials, sadly I have to look beyond Proton Pass.

I just signed up for ProtonPass and started to import. I have many folders but only have a main folder and subfolders for some accounts. The import failed multiple times because it could create a new "folder" as a vault but couldn't create a folder in the vault. So the import appears to not work, and it will be next to impossible to figure out what happened because the message was too generic. So now I have to go through the process of manually verifying everything. The idea of a folder structure for a product like this iis so basic it never occurred to me that it would not support it.
Compounding the problem is that the import does not tell you anything meaningful about what it is doing with my data when it fails. If you can't add folders you need to at least make the import process more transparent and informative. I can't afford to trust my important data to this product exclusively if I don't know it is even stored.
I have multiple clients and keep access to multiple business systems. I can't afford find out months later when I need ot access one of those systems that my creds were not transferred and only exist on a system I no longer have access to. Fix the import - preferably by adding the folder capability, but if you don't, I will have to stay with my old password manager just to avoid being unable to access a system at a critical time. 50 vaults is not enough and I can't keep them all organized without subfolders

Tags is like folders, but better, except if you really need to put entries inside folders inside folders inside folders, etc.
And, as Maurits said, you can create multiple vaults. Currently, it's what I do:
- one vault for my personal life
- one vault by client

You can make up to 50 vaults, where you can organise your passwords based on category. Why would you want to make folders?

I am really wanting to move to Proton Pass from KeePass. But this is a deal breaker for me.

I am very much for this as well. Whether it be folders or sub-vaults. Some way to further split up entries would be nice.

In ProtonPass, have the ability to create Folders for your passwords. Will make it easier to organize passwords based on category.

Tags would be the way to go, in my opinion :)

Ability to categorize passwords and group them would clean up the UI.

Functionality to filter by category would be awesome (e.g. travel, finance, social media, work, etc.)

In my previous password manager, I have been using these categories. They are valuable, because the have a very specific data set.

In Proton Pass, this is still very rudimentary (logins, aliases, cards, notes).

The lack of tags/folders/categories, with sub folders/tags/categories makes Proton Pass unusable for my use case. Migrating from Bitwarden, used to use 1password, which both allow one to organize my 1500+ entries.

If we could include more categories for what can be stored in Proton Pass.
