   I've never seen a video conferencing app do this before, and I admit that it is a niche use case, but being able to choose to mirror participants' video feeds could be useful when demonstrating things over video.

3. Automatically/Default/Remember to Hide Self-View

   My default viewing preference is to hide my self-view when having a 1:1 meeting. Currently, after joining every Proton Meet call (often while conversing with a client), I have to click Settings > Hide Self-View.

   Often, if the client is new to Proton Meet, I get to do this while also verbally walking them through how to do this process too.

   It'd be great if Proton Meet could "remember" what my "hide self-view" settings were in my previous call.

5. Sound that meeting end

   I have multiple situations when I speak and dont know that meeting is over and meeting windows was not in focus. The end meeting sound can be very helpful

6. Integrate an AI notetaker

   An integration with AI note-taking tools would be extremely useful.

   Alternatively, a guideline/how-to on the integration of an existing AI note taker.

   Integration with Proton drive should be easy. If the AI note taker stores the files locally, then that is already provided using synchonized folders/files.

7. Make Proton Meet Pro pricing more affordable for Families

   Please consider making Proton Meet Professional more affordable for families or allowing one user to upgrade. Advertising it as $7.99/month or $95.88/year is deceiving, because it currently costs US $287.64 for a Family membership (which is nearly $400 Canadian). This is significantly more than getting a Zoom Pro account and expensive for those already subscribing to the family membership--especially when only one family member needs the Proton Meet Pro features of a recording option and longer than 60 minute meetings.

8. Automatically mute all participants in a Proton Meet meeting.

   Please make it possible to mute all attendees in a meeting at once or to make meeting settings so that participants can't turn on audio.

   When hosting a large meeting like a webinar or similar, this is crucial to keep out unwanted noise.

    Competitive Positioning: Competitors offer flexible meeting tiers. Having a stronger Mid-tier makes Proton viable for SMBs and professionals without forcing full Workspace pricing.

    Low Engineering Overhead: Most features already exist in Professional — this is primarily adjusting limits and toggles, not building from scratch.

    Bottom Line: Unlimited subscribers are already paying customers. Giving us better Meet features strengthens our commitment, reduces churn risk, and creates a logical upgrade ladder for power users.

12. Keyboard shortcuts for camera/microphone actions

    Comparing with G Meet, they have shortcuts ⌘/Ctrl + D (to toggle Audio) and ⌘/Ctrl + E (to toggle Video), which is incredibly useful in larger meetings or if you're switching back and forth between windows or tabs to quickly unmute yourself.

13. Native Phone Functionality in Proton Meet

    I would like to propose that Proton Meet introduce a native phone calling layer — essentially a privacy-first equivalent of the Phone System central in Microsoft Teams. The goal is simple: make it possible to place and receive real telephone calls (PSTN) directly from within Proton Meet, without ever leaving the Proton ecosystem.

    What I Am Proposing

    A unified voice communication module embedded in Proton Meet that allows users to:

    Make and receive calls to/from regular phone numbers (PSTN) directly from the Proton Meet interface — no separate app, no third-party VoIP provider required.

    Maintain a personal and shared contact directory within the Proton ecosystem, consistent across Meet, Mail, and Calendar.

    Access a call history log with timestamps, duration, and call notes — all end-to-end encrypted.

    Configure voicemail with transcription support, delivered securely to the Proton inbox.

    Support call transfer, hold, and forwarding for professional and team environments.

    Enable a softphone mode — usable from desktop and mobile, replacing the need for a physical desk phone or a separate business telephony subscription.

    Why This Matters

    Microsoft Teams succeeded not because of its video meetings — it succeeded because it replaced the desk phone. The moment organisations could call external parties, suppliers, and clients directly from Teams, the case for a separate telephony system collapsed.

    Proton is following a similar trajectory: Mail, Calendar, Drive, VPN, and now Meet. The missing piece is the phone. For any professional or organisation seriously considering a full migration away from Microsoft 365, the inability to make outbound calls to external numbers remains the single most significant barrier.

    Adding PSTN calling to Proton Meet would:

    Complete the productivity stack — one encrypted, auditable platform for all communication.

    Eliminate the last dependency on Microsoft or Google for business telephony.

    Open Proton to regulated industries — legal, financial, and healthcare sectors where call privacy and data residency are non-negotiable requirements.

    Technical Path Worth Considering

    This does not require Proton to build a global carrier from scratch. A pragmatic approach could be:

    Phase 1: SIP/VoIP integration — allow users to connect an existing SIP trunk or VoIP provider, managed securely within Proton Meet.

    Phase 2: Proton-native PSTN via carrier partnerships — selected regions first (CH, EU), with number provisioning directly through Proton.

    Phase 3: Full softphone feature parity — transfer, hold, voicemail transcription, shared call queues for teams.

    The Ask

    Proton has already made the case that privacy and professional productivity belong together. The phone is the final frontier. Every organisation that has hesitated to leave Microsoft Teams has done so — at least in part — because of telephony lock-in.

    Remove that lock-in, and the migration case becomes overwhelming.

    I would be genuinely curious whether others in the community have encountered this barrier, and whether the Proton team has explored PSTN integration on the roadmap.

15. Deep Link For macOS

    It would be great if deep linking was enabled for the desktop MacOS Meet app. As of now, if you open a link to a meeting from Proton Mail or Calendar it opens the link in the default browser (in my case, Safari). It would be helpful if, like other meeting apps, Safari would then pop up a dialog saying "Open in Proton Meet?"

    This is done via deeplinking, the documentation for this is here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/allowing-apps-and-websites-to-link-to-your-content

    I do not have the mobile app so I'm not sure if it's implemented there yet, but it's the same techniques for iOS.

17. Change recording system method and pricing

    With regards to the recording feature... I don't feel it makes sense that recording a meeting is currently limited to paid tiers (I am a paid teir user for the record) given that it works completely locally.

    Surely a better way to do this would be to allow recording locally (up to say 30 minutes) but then limit recording to longer periods to the paid tiers?

    While also introducing cloud recording (direct to proton drive)? For unlimited timeframes for paying customers...

    As part of a network called Language for Justice we aim to bring decolonial language accessibility online and currently the only qualitative platform with this feature is Zoom. It would be great to be able to have possibility to invite multiple interpreters for different languages (not only from EU by the way). Great feature for Interpreters would be also interpreters being able to switch and listen to each other without interrupting each other (they usually work in pairs) and also the host and co-hosts being able to manage the settings to be of best support. 19. Proton Sheets: formulas get mixed up when reordering rows

    I've got a sheet with formulas and when I reorder rows, cells on that row that rely on formulas aren't correctly updated. They end up referencing cells in other rows. In order to fix this, I need to copy and paste the formula from a row that I didn't reorder.
