Automatic Download of Meet Recordings
Hi Proton Meet Team,
I'd like to provide feedback on the usability of the recording feature in Proton Meet and request a change to this feature.
Current Problem:
- I conducted a video call with recording enabled
- When leaving the call, the download popup disappeared before I could click it
- The recorded file is now nowhere to be found on my system
- Neither in the Downloads folder nor anywhere else can I locate the MP4 fileBackground: Local storage without cloud backup is an important privacy feature for me. However, the intermediate step of an active download…

Enable System Audio Sharing During Screen Sharing in Proton Meet
Currently, when sharing a browser tab or window in Proton Meet on Firefox, there is no option to transmit the associated audio alongside the video feed. Users can share screen visuals only, forcing workarounds like virtual audio cables or OBS routing that introduce complexity, latency, and potential points of failure.
Proposed Feature: Implement native audio capture during screen sharing so users can optionally enable "Share audio" checkboxes (similar to Google Meet, Zoom, and Teams) when selecting a tab/window/screen.
Technical Context & Rationale
Modern browsers handle this differently:
…Chrome/Edge (Chromium): Expose tab-capture APIs (getDisplayMedia with audio: true) allowing single-tab audio injection1 vote -
Touch up my apparence
On zoom there is these options to touch up apparence with a scale of improving and it is great. Also the image seems too large on Meet, the face is less large in regard with the background.

Keyboard shortcuts for camera/microphone actions
Comparing with G Meet, they have shortcuts ⌘/Ctrl + D (to toggle Audio) and ⌘/Ctrl + E (to toggle Video), which is incredibly useful in larger meetings or if you're switching back and forth between windows or tabs to quickly unmute yourself.

Proton Meet currently lacks a native, built-in feature to share system audio during screen sharing
It seems that Proton Meet currently lacks a native, built-in feature to share system audio during screen sharing.
I think this needs to change soon.

Include an option for Uncompressed Sound sharing (like Original Sound in Zoom)
In Zoom there's a toggle for meeting organisers to turn on "Original Sound for Musicians", this disables sound compression and noise cancelling and allows the attendees to listen to the sound being shared without any distortion or compression.
This is essential if sharing music as low frequencies get disabled by the compression algorithm.4 votes -
Native Phone Functionality in Proton Meet
I would like to propose that Proton Meet introduce a native phone calling layer — essentially a privacy-first equivalent of the Phone System central in Microsoft Teams. The goal is simple: make it possible to place and receive real telephone calls (PSTN) directly from within Proton Meet, without ever leaving the Proton ecosystem.
What I Am Proposing
A unified voice communication module embedded in Proton Meet that allows users to:
Make and receive calls to/from regular phone numbers (PSTN) directly from the Proton Meet interface — no separate app, no third-party VoIP provider required.
Maintain a personal and shared contact…

Add a timing alert / notification ahead of call ending (e.g. "meeting ends in [n]minutes)
Timing out is currently a hard cut-off with no forewarning. It'd be great to have a notification, and then possibly countdown timer.

Can you please add payment functionality for meetings?
I'd like to use Proton Meet for paid client sessions. Can you create a way for clients to pay when they book their meeting time?

Enable/disable specific webcams
Allow the showing and hiding of specific webcams. Lets say there are two main speaker, let me hide all the other users and only show those two (three four etc) webcams. This is similar to focusing just a single speaker.

Spotlight or pinned speaker / host view for recordings
Please allow us to have the option to only have the pinned speaker or host be recorded, or spotlighted during meetings. It's important for when others don't want to be visible on recordings, and it's distracting from the speaker view. Thank you!

Add Audio Test to confirm microphone and speaker are working correctly
Please add a feature to allow a user to test their audio by recording their voice using their microphone and then playing it back through their sound output device.
This test feature would allow the user to confirm their voice is clearly audible and not distorted.
Although the current test feature shows the sound bar moves when the user is speaking, this only proves that a sound is being detected but it could be distorted or have other impairments that would make the speech unintelligible.7 votes -
Please add more flexibility for billing with Meet
Unlike calendar and mail, my needs for video conferencing are much more sporadic, so it doesn't make sense for me to have an ongoing subscription to Meet. However, if I want to buy one month of Meet, I have to switch my entire plan to month-to-month billing and lose the subscription benefits. It's much easier for me to just buy one month of some other software (Zoom in my case) as needed. If Meet could be handled more like an add on that could be purchased ad hoc without disrupting everything else in the plan, I would buy it.

On a portrait monitor the video tiles will be vertical instead of horizontal
Allow re-sizing or reshaping or improve the automatic algorithim for adjusting video tiles, on a vertical monitor it goes lengthwise unless there's a picture being shared so it becomes horizontal stack style.

Omit Proton Meet window from screenshare
Currently, screen share captures the Proton Meet window which creates an infinite repeat within itself. Instead, Meet should appear over top of the screen as shared, and not show itself in that capture/stream.

Deep Link For macOS
It would be great if deep linking was enabled for the desktop MacOS Meet app. As of now, if you open a link to a meeting from Proton Mail or Calendar it opens the link in the default browser (in my case, Safari). It would be helpful if, like other meeting apps, Safari would then pop up a dialog saying "Open in Proton Meet?"
This is done via deeplinking, the documentation for this is here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/allowing-apps-and-websites-to-link-to-your-content
I do not have the mobile app so I'm not sure if it's implemented there yet, but it's the same techniques for iOS.

Adjustable Self-View Size in Proton Meet
Product: Proton Meet
Summary Add a minimizable/compact self-view option so users can reduce their own video tile to a small picture-in-picture window, rather than choosing only between equal-sized split view or hiding self-view entirely.
Problem Currently, Proton Meet offers two self-view modes in 1:1 calls: equal-sized windows (your video takes up half the screen) or hiding your own video completely. There's no middle ground. An equally sized self-view is unnecessarily large — most users only need a small preview to confirm their camera angle and lighting. Hiding self-view removes this useful feedback entirely. Competing tools (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams) commonly…
