Apart from the chicken-egg problem, I don't even want to be logged in to proton account at all in the web browser. I just want to access the proton pass vault via the extension.

It is quite annoying to have warnings about 2FA when the accounts do have 2FA enabled using another app. There should either be an option to mark those entries as having 2FA enabled, or just disable the 2FA monitoring completely.
I don't want to use Pass for 2FA as I want to have that separated from my passwords.

Not having this feature makes having contacts in protonmail quite annoying. I have to duplicate contacts, as I need to have access to the email addresses in proton, and the phone number to use in the dialer app.
And having this basic functionality as a 'planned' feature for more than five years is just mind boggling.

This is quite annoying indeed. If an app or website has an "add to calendar" option, I see all calendar apps, except for proton calendar.
Some sites have the option to download an ICS file, but not all of them.
This feature definatly is a must have.
