I don't understand why is ProtonPass login tied to main Proton account. It's nonsensical to login into password managing app with same credentials as you then login into using the password manager. Not only it makes use of ProtonPass difficult if you use complex password for the account that can't be memorized, it's also security liability having both tied together externally (by e-mail address and password.
ProtonPass should internally be tied to main Proton account (due to subscriptions like Unlimited which includes ProtonPass), but externally, it should allow entirely separate username as well as password credentials.
This way login to password manager doesn't directly links to a person. Yes, security through obscurity sometimes does make sense. If there is no apparent link between main Proton account and ProtonPass at least on the outside, it's much less likely for anyone to be digging information for one or the other with clear link between them.
Clearly Proton can link accounts and functions like this, I just don't understand why don't they do it for ProtonPass.
Because 3rd party password manager and ProtonMail works beautifully, but ProtonPass and ProtonMail together, since it's the same account, not at all.
