  1. Using physical security keys

You sent me an email this morning about passkeys. Well, what about physical security keys? I bought two of them last week from Amazon. I got them to work with iCloud. I'd like them to work with Proton Mail, too.
    Thanks.

  2. Please Capitalize Subject Line for Proton Calendar Email Notifications

Currently whenever I receive an email notification for a Proton Calendar event, the subject line reads as "Reminder: event starting at 7:00 AM...". I believe that it would look more professional if the elements within the subject field were properly capitalized, specifically the phrase "event starting".

    Thank you

  3. Schedule view in sidebar

Adding the schedule view so we can access more information without the need to open the calendar in a different tab/window. Kinda like the google calendar's view in the android app.

  4. Leveraging ProtonPass & Signal to Facilitate Non-ProtonMail Recipients Password Management

    PROBLEM:
When sending “Encrypted Emails to Non-Proton Recipients” … it is cumbersome to have to “manually manage” the “Shared Secrets / Passwords” for each recipient … in particular if you are communicating with multiple recipients repeatedly.

In addition … it requires communicating the password through a secure encrypted channel … normally I use “Signal”.

    FEATURE REQUEST:
Add an additional field in “ProtonPass” for documenting email recipients and their shared secret for encrypted communications within ProtonMail. You could integrate ProtonPass with ProtonMail such that it detects that you are sending an encrypted email to a Non-ProtonMail recipient … and prompts you…

  5. Omit trashed messages from thread count

Currently messages with the same subject are grouped into a single conversation thread with the subject prefixed with the thread's message count. This is great, except it includes trashed messages... i.e.:

[17] Your Card may not have been present for a purchase

I regularly trash messages like these after reviewing them... The next day I might have made only 2 purchases, so 17 is alarming.

Please omit trashed messages from this count. I'm sure nobody thinks they are relevant.

  6. Change zoom in desktop app

In the browser for Proton Mail I prefer to use a 90% view size to see everything better, as well as in Proton Calendar, where I use e.g. a 70% view to see more events and more text that would otherwise be hidden.

  7. A spellchecker that allows you to select a language per recipient

As I am writing regularly to different recipients in different languages, it would be helpful if I could allocate a spellchecker specifically, so that it is chosen automatically as soon as I select the recipient's address.

  8. Mute Notifications in Linux desktop app

The notifications are nice for plenty I'm sure, but I just find them distracting and irritating. it would be nice to be able to turn these off.

  9. Stop update window from blocking app

When a new Proton Mail version is available (on macOS), an alert box asking for an upgrade pops and request the focus (indeed it pops over any app).

This is far from good practice, please prevent this, you can find a less imperative way to alert the user.

Also, while I was looking to prevent this, I searched to block auto update and that option is not available either (but this is not my main request)

    Thank you

  10. Option to hide menubar in Linux app

I would like a hide menubar option, ideally bound to a hotkey, as I do not have much use for the menu bar.

    Thanks again for this app!

  11. Switch accounts in Linux desktop app

The linux desktop app cannot be easily re-launched independently, nor can I use multiple accounts with it; this makes it harder for me to use. Please either make it so that invocations of the application launch new instances, with configuration handled appropriately, or that individual accounts can be launched in e.g. tabs.

I really like where this app is going, thank you for making it.

  12. New icon for dark mode

I think it should be purple on the outside and white on the inside so it doesn't look weird when you are using dark mode. Also, this should be the same for all the proton apps, so it looks consistent.

  13. Group mail in inbox view by label

I would love to have an option to group mail by label on my inbox dashboard. A bullet pointed list of the feature I have in mind:
    - The feature does not have to be available on mobile and could be a web exclusive (as is the case with Google Mail)
    - The feature can be toggled on/off on the settings tab, next to density and layout
    - Each label would be turned into a separate list of mail items
    - If an email has multiple labels, the email would appear in both label's list
    - All unlabeled items would…

  15. Ability to set expiring emails as the default

I would like to see an option that allowed me to make message expiration the default for all my new sent emails to other Proton users. This would make a person choose to take action if they wanted a message to not expire.

An addition to this might be to allow a default to be set for each email address that I send to. For example, I could make the default for message sent to grandma to not expire, but make the messages sent to my business partner to default to expire in two weeks. It is sometimes good to…

  16. Offline access for desktop apps

Allow the desktop app to download a copy of the email to read and work offline (read any and all inbox email, delete, write and send emails), which will be queued for syncing whenever online. Same for calendar events.

  17. Close to system track/dock

The red "close window" button with the default Mail.app closes the window but leaves Mail.app running. Clicking the Mail.app icon again, opens the window again. With the Proton app, clicking the red "close window" title bar button closes the window permanently leaving the Proton app in a useless state. The main window can't be opened again with any of the "show windows" menu items - the app has to be completely exited and restarted to get the main window back.

  18. Forward newsletters through sieve filter

There is currently no way to forward newsletters.

I have been a fastmail user and just forwarded every newsletter to Omnivore and automatically deleted the emails afterwards. As some prefer to send out emails instead of providing an rss feed, this had been a great option!

Why can't I do this in Proton? Sieve filters (which are needed to detect if an email is a newsletter) won't allow forwarding.. ("tag where string expected near :copy")

  19. Local storage for desktop app

Having the ability to also store messages locally in folders using a standard file format would be helpful. As a current Mozilla Thunderbird user, I store messages both on the Proton servers and locally for archive purposes. Being able to create folders in either locations with simple transferring between them would bring me much closer to no longer needing Thunderbird.

  20. In threaded messages make all images viewable

Instead of just being able to scroll left/right and view only 10 images in a threaded message, make all of them viewable. I get multiple emails daily with images from my home security system and can only view 10 images at a time, making all of them viewable would be awesome!
