  2. Sorting Mail filters for easy reading.

Under Proton Mail’s filter settings, the user cannot sort the list of filters they have created, making navigation difficult. Could the team add a button to help sort the list?

  3. move-copy folders from one account to another within same business account

Today, if I want to move all emails from one account to another, the only method I found was via Bridge-Thunderbird: downloading, locally copying, and uploading, which is crazy time-consuming and, unfortunately, not safe (the final count showed that lots of emails were not copied).
Instead of downloading and uploading, it would be great if the group admin had the ability to move folders between accounts.

  4. Bring Web App Themes to Mobile Apps

This could be a relatively simple update for Proton - I'd love to see more themes and customizations within the mobile apps. The web app has great themes and it'd be great to bring these over to the mobile apps. Right now, the mobile app themes are a little bit plain. It would be nice to be able to switch it up!

  5. Letting users rearrange the Proton Mail sidebar

The Proton Mail sidebar can only be rearranged starting from the "Folders" section and anything after that. It would be helpful to let users move any folder/section like "Inbox", "Spam", "Trash" or any folders created in the sidebar to where the user needs it to be between the top and the bottom of the list.

In iCloud, in Gmail and in Outlook, you can choose the order of the things in your sidebar to have what you use most often at the top and the least often at the bottom.

Thank you for reading our posts and you guys have…

  6. e-mail folders navigation much cleaner and faster, especially for users with many custom folders

Currently, email folders in Proton Mail — both on the web app and Android app — are expanded by default.

When there are many folders, this makes the sidebar quite long and it becomes tedious to find the folder you actually need.

It would be very useful to have folders collapsed by default, or at least to have a setting that allows users to choose whether folders should be expanded or collapsed when opening the app.

This would make navigation much cleaner and faster, especially for users with many custom folders.

  7. number of unread emails in the browser tab

I’d like to see the number of unread emails in the browser tab (just like I was used to in Gmail). It can’t be that difficult… after all, the calendar tab shows the current date, for example.

  8. Custom subaddressing delimiter for custom domains (plus addressing, email tags, catchall support)

Custom subaddressing delimiter for custom domains (beyond plus addressing)

    Allow custom-domain owners to choose the subaddressing delimiter from any RFC-permitted non-alphanumeric symbol allowed in the local-part of an email address (e.g., . - _ + ! # $ % & ' * / = ? ^ \ { | } ~`).

    Why:

Plus-addressing and email tagging users rely on tagged addresses for filtering, traceability, and account compartmentalization.

The current + delimiter is widely stripped or rejected by websites and abused by bots and spammers.

Alternative symbols would restore reliable tagging for custom-domain owners, catchall users, and advanced filtering workflows.

  9. Instant push notifications on desktop

As a Proton Mail macOS user, when I'm waiting for an email, it's really annoying that I will get a push notification immediately on my phone, the have to hit refresh in the desktop client several times before the email shows up in the desktop client.

Perhaps https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail-calendar/suggestions/50545794-implement-push-imap-instant-email-notification is the right solution, but I don't really care how it works--I just want to receive notifications as fast on desktop as on my phone.

  10. How about the "export tool doesn't have a trojan in it?"

I've been trying to back up my emails using the ludicrous command line "export tool" and it's just tried to infect my computer with this fancy little fellow. I have all the screenshots. I waited up over 40 minutes in the hope that it might actually work this time and then BitDefender threw a complete wobbly. Any chance we can have a real way of downloading our emails, please?

  11. Please make Contacts a separate app from Proton Mail so that I can access it directly from the Proton "Welcome" screen or app pull-down list

Please make Contacts a separate app from Proton Mail so that I can access it directly from the Proton "Welcome" screen or app pull-down list. It's a waste of time to have to open Proton Mail in order to work solely with Contacts. Your consideration would be most appreciated.

  12. Select all email from sender

    Proposed feature:

    1. Use the checkbox to select one or more email messages OR simply right-click on the desired email
    2. Choose "Select all from sender" from the context menu
    3. Proton selects ALL email from ALL the selected senders that are located in the current folder
    4. User can then use the existing "Move" button to move them into a folder, "Delete" to delete them, "Label" to label them, etc.

    That is it!

REASONING: This feature would be very powerful for users because it makes complicated, multi-step tasks MUCH faster, saving users time.

    For example:

GOAL: Select multiple email from different senders and…

  14. Alphabetical sorting of folders and subfolders in Proton Mail

    Dear,
In today's information-saturated world, the ability to sort folders and subfolders manually or automatically is essential.
Could you please implement this feature in Proton Mail?

  15. Simplify Proton Mail Bridge configuration

I have a growing list of self-hosted services, and am moving toward unattended installation and reinstallation. Proton Mail Bridge creates a challenge as it wants to be configured using an interactive CLI. Using the 'expect' utility doesn't work well because of the way log messages are presented. Providing the inputs via stdin is fragile for items such as imap-security (not idempotent) and autoupdate (confirmation prompt only when changing). I'd like to see a better way to set this up.

    • Either use a plain-text file for general Bridge configuration, or commands that are idempotent and don't require confirmation (e.g. 'set imap-security…

  16. Support Email Security Gateways (ESG) the way Google and Microsoft do

Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 already support ESG on incoming and outgoing emails for years. More users and organizations are required to run a gateway nowadays.

What BOTH Google and Microsoft already provide:
    1. Declare your gateway IPs as a trusted source.
    2. Detect the last hop prior to the gateway (finding the real sender IP).
    3. Reject anything that did not come through the gateway IPs.
    4. Enforce TLS on the connection from the gateway.
    5. Support routing outgoing emails through the gateway.

I hope Proton can add support for these 5 features first. Thank you.

  17. Email Signature for New Mail but not in Replies

It would be great to have the option to have email signatures in newly composed emails, but turn them OFF in replies.

  18. Give users a setting to disable the confirmation popup after drag-and-drop moves.

When I move an event graphically in Proton Calendar by dragging it to another time or day, the event window opens every time and I have to confirm the change manually.

This can become annoying when reorganizing several events, because dragging an event already feels like a clear user action.

It would be useful to have an option in the Calendar settings to choose whether the event window should open after moving an event by drag and drop.

    For example:

“Open event details after dragging an event: On / Off”

This would let users who want confirmation keep the current…

  19. Folder depth limit and unread email indicator

    Hello Proton Team,
First of all, as a French user, please excuse my English which might leave a little to be desired... ;)
Thank you for your excellent work. As a daily user of your services, I would like to share two feature suggestions regarding the Proton Mail interface that I believe would greatly improve the overall user experience:

Increase the subfolder limit: Being a true neat freak when it comes to organization, I find the current 3-level hierarchy limit a bit restrictive. It would be incredibly useful to be able to create more nesting levels for hyper-precise categorization (this…
