Confusing icons in Proton Mail on web
When I open an email, I see two toolbars. For example, the icon for deleting an email is in both the top toolbar and the toolbar next to the email. But the icon for archiving is only in the top toolbar. Similarly, the icon for snoozing an email is in the top toolbar, but it's missing from the bottom toolbar. And there are many icons that appear in both toolbars. I don't understand why this is the case. If there is a purpose to it, I really don't understand it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It would be good to either add some help or, better yet, redesign it.
What is really bad is the display of conversations. When collapsed, they take up a lot of space, and I can't find my way around long threads.

I-phone Protonmail app - improvement with backward steps?
One of the improvements made is the ability to enlarge a pic or text without the email jumping back to the beginning.
The negatives are : 1. When enlargeing an image or text, you can't swipe left to see the rest of the item. 2. Swiping left to the next email is no longer possible. 3. The old app dropped you into the next email when deleting an opened email. No longer the case. The app developers made one step forward and three backward! What gives?3 votes -

Change the delete swipe in Mail back to a simple left swipe
The new version of the Mail app now requires a rather long single left swipe or a short left swipe plus a tap to delete a mail. This is really inconvenient and slows down email reviews/processing. For better or for worse, deleting is what we do most. This function should be as simple as possible - just a single short left swipe, just like it was previously. Please change it back.

Delegate Mail and Calendar viewer/editor accesses to a user(s) within your proton org.
Thank you for reading this. If you guys want Financial, Legal and Medical service providers (notably) to embrace Proton, I strongly recommend you implement this request.
A key missing feature is the ability to assign accesses to a user's inbox or calendar to another user (to avoid sharing credentials). In some regulated industry, this is necessary to properly execute compliance functions.
Three delegation profiles would be necessary for this feature to be effective:
Temporary: the ability for a user to delegate inbox/calendar accesses to another user for a specific amount of time (Holiday, Maternity, Illness),
Enhanced: the ability for a user to delegate inbox/calendar accesses to another user for an indeterminate amount of time (Executive Assistants, Managers, long term leave of absence),
Compliance: the ability for an organisation to automatically delegate inbox accesses for a determinate or indeterminate amount of time to specific individuals within an organisation (departed employee, third party audit, litigation hold, client privacy request)
Key components by profile:
All: the ability to switch on or off this feature for an organisation as a whole
All: a separate toggle for the compliance profile option.
All: retains logs of these accesses
-
All: visual indicator that an inbox has delegation(s) active.
- Temporary / Enhanced: Folders included/excluded could have a badge
Delegation recipient: within the inbox of someone receiving delegated emails either a clear indication that an email is a delegated email or a "tab" of sorts that "switches" to the delegated inbox and hosts everything in there.
Temporary / Enhanced: in-app notification to the user when a delegated user is currently viewing their inbox.
Temporary / Enhanced: the ability to send emails "From (colleague A) on behalf of (colleague B)" as a separately selectable option when implementing a delegation.
Temporary / Enhanced: the ability to temporarily suspend all delegations for a specific amount of time
Temporary / Enhanced: the ability to include/exclude certain email contacts from a delegation
Temporary / Enhanced: exclude or limit access to things like alias, tags and account settings
Temporary / Enhanced: the ability to have the delegation only work during specific hours or on specific days
Compliance: include current and past delegations in an accounts' activity logs
Compliance: ability to assign each user another user(s) as manager
Compliance: ability to assign to specific users membership to the compliance team
Compliance: grant access to a delegated account's inbox activity log as well as existing delegations.
Compliance: once a user leaves an organisation, grant full access to a user's inbox to their assigned manager(s) and the Chief Compliance Officer ("CCO") and/or Chief Privacy Officer ("CPO"). The CCO/CPO can delegate that access to subordinates or change the managers' accesses if necessary.
Compliance: a still-employed user should be able to restrict a compliance access to their inbox by excluding specific folders, email addresses or calendar categories. This is to preserve the privacy of other clients or projects.
Compliance: Compliance should still see and find in search the email titles, folders, addresses and attachment names / document types of excluded content by a still-employed employee, but not see the actual contents of the email.
Compliance: The CCO/CPO should have the ability to override the confidentiality exclusions of an employee subject to a mandatory compliance delegation if they deem necessary.
Compliance: deactivate permanent erasure of deleted emails for accounts with active compliance delegations.
Compliance: When an organisation has activated the compliance feature, extend for everyone the delete folder's retention time to 1 year.
Compliance: All compliance activities, including temporary delegations, assignments, override, etc. should be logged.
Compliance: After X amount of years, an org's CCO/CPO should have the ability to permanently delete a preserved inbox.
That's it! I understand that this might take a while to implement, but professional services firms are truly the perfect niche of business clients for your product suite: typically lower headcounts, obsessed with privacy and at high risk from cyberthreats.
Next thing on the docket for this client group would be better calendars (further integration with mail and contacts, better attachment management, more regional calendars, better notifications, better collaboration) , more quality of life features for Proton Mail (OoO messages, better signatures, better contact management, etc.) big improvements to Proton Drive (compliance, document structure, collaboration, File explorer integration of shared folders, etc.). I also think you guys need a dedicated contact management platform.
Anyway, hope this helps, best of luck.

Implement push IMAP (instant email notification)
The fetch way of retrieving emails is ancient compared to modern communication methods alternatives. Google, Yahoo! and others are using their own protocol but Push IMAP exists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push-IMAP).
Imagine you are a new user switching from Google to Proton, you are used to instant notifications on emails arrivals, useful for magic codes for example, it’s a huge downgrade coming to Proton Mail.

Show full folder path in “Move message to…” search results
Problem:
When I move an email and type into Move message to…, results only show the leaf folder name. I have parallel structures for different children, e.g.Children/KidOne/SchoolOne
Children/KidTwo/SchoolOne
Both show up as “SchoolOne”, so I can’t tell which is which.Request:
Display the full folder path (or at least parent folders) in the move dialog’s search results—for example:Children / KidOne / SchoolOne
Children / KidTwo / SchoolOne
Nice-to-haves:
Show the full path as a secondary line or breadcrumb.
Tooltip with the complete path on hover.
Keyboard navigation should read the full path for accessibility.
Option to toggle “Show full path in folder lists” in Settings.
Why
Reduces misfiling, saves clicks, and helps anyone with mirrored folder trees (families, clients, projects with identical subfolder names).Problem:

move event from personal to shared calendar
Move event from personal calendar to shared calendar
I have events in my personal calendar that become relevant to others that I have a shared calendar with. The other user is the shared calendar owner. I can create an event in the shared calendar but I want to be able to edit the event I have already created and select the shared calendar. Currently it only shows my personal calendars when I try to do this edit.
I use proton calendar on both web and IOS 15.8.4 (I have an older iPhone) this issue persists in both versions.
It has been resolved in IOS 18 but I cannot use that.

period tracker
Proton could make a period tracker. Either as an app or as a calendar feature. Privacy over this type of data is needed right now especially since some parts of the world have strict laws against abortion. And tech data is used against women in pregnancy outcome cases.

Add filter condition 'Inbox' or otherwise fix filtering when using a hide-my-email alias
In Proton Pass I am using a hide-my-email alias, e.g. 'shop.alias123@passmail.net', which forwards mails to one of my Proton Mail inboxes / email address aliases, e.g. 'my.shopping@proton.me'.
As a result, the mail header looks like this:
From 'noreply@shop.com'
To 'shop.alias123@passmail.net'Now, I would like to set up a filter which moves all mails received via 'my.shopping@proton.me' to a folder 'Shopping'.
However, as neither the sender ('From') nor the recipient ('To') contains said inbox address, this is not possible. My only option is to include all the hide-my-email aliases in the filter, too.
Please expand the filter conditions (or change the 'To' field) to allow for proper filtering when using hide-my-email aliases.

Consider the following:
In Proton Mail I have two mail addresses -- 'firstname.lastname@proton.me' & 'online.shopping@proton.me'
In Proton Pass I am using a hide-my-email alias 'shop.alias123@passmail.net' which forwards mails to the latter inbox.

Add Email Re-edit Button
Add a button on every email that allows re-editing of already sent or received emails.
This way, for example, you can easily send a second email similar to an already sent one without having to copy and paste all the content into a new email again.

Group newsletters
The new newsletters is great! One thing I'd wish would be possible is to combine multiple newsletters.
E.g. I receive newsletters fro Github for each repository separately ("Github jgm/pandoc", "Github prusa3d/prusaslicer", etc.). Here it would be amazing to have the ability to combine these into a single newsletter group.

Limited View for Share with Proton users calendar sharing
When using the "Share with Proton users" aspect of shared calendars you cannot choose limited view, only full details or edit permissions. Currently Limited view is only available if you use the Share with anyone and create a link. This seems like an easy change, I want to be able to share my calendar without a link (that could be leaked), but also not have to burden the one person I wish to share it with with the curse of knowledge (the minutiae of my every movement.)

Preserve Reverse Alias When Forwarding Your Own Sent Messages
When an email is sent via a reverse alias, forwarding that same message (e.g., to add a missed recipient) reveals the sender’s real Proton Mail address instead of the alias. Users must manually edit the forwarded message to hide their real address, which is easy to forget and defeats the privacy purpose of reverse aliases.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a reverse alias (e.g., alias@protonmail.com).
- Compose and send an email to Recipient A using that alias.
- Realize you omitted Recipient B and click Forward on the sent message.
- In the compose window, add Recipient B and send.
- The forwarded email’s From/Reply‑To header now shows your primary Proton Mail address, not the alias.
Expected Behavior:
When forwarding a message that you originally sent using a reverse alias, the forwarded email should automatically retain the alias in the From/Reply‑To fields, keeping your real address hidden without any extra effort.
Suggested Solution:- Automatic Alias Retention for Forwarded Sent Mail
- Detect that the message being forwarded originated from a reverse alias.
When the user forwards that message, pre‑populate the From and Reply‑To fields with the original alias.
Show a non‑intrusive indicator (e.g., “Forwarding using reverse alias”) so the user knows the alias is being used.
Optional User Preference (under Settings → Aliases → Forwarding)
“Preserve reverse alias when forwarding my own sent messages” (ON by default).Allow advanced users to disable the behavior if they intentionally want the real address shown.
