Proton Mail desktop app should be free for everyone!
I don't see a reason why it's paid, i don't use al the premium mail features and I would not pay hust to have the desktop app. It's a basic feature everyone should have

Client-Side Filtering to Enable Full Header Encryption
ProtonMail utilizes End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for email bodies, though metadata and headers currently remain unencrypted to facilitate server-side filtering (I assume). This architecture allows the server to instantly sort incoming messages into folders, apply labels, manage expiration dates, or discard emails based on user-defined rules.
A potential enhancement to this system involves implementing content-based filtering. While server-side analysis of encrypted bodies is technically unfeasible due to the E2EE protocol, filtering could be offloaded to the client side. Once a user logs in and the client decrypts the message locally, the application could execute comprehensive filtering rules and synchronize the resulting organizational changes back to the remote servers.
Furthermore, transitioning to client-side filtering offers a significant security advantage: it enables the hardening of server-side storage. By removing the server's need to access headers for routing, Proton could implement full-message encryption (headers and body).

Alert for new mail in Win desktop app.
Still no audio alert or popup for Win desktop app.
Push notification are useless for a secure computer. It is NOT a cell phone, thus 10 times more secure.5 votes -
select Proton address as calendar organizer
Proton allows you to create new identities or addresses with the Proton suffix. The problem is the Calendar default organizer is your original proton account. You should be able to choose which address is the organizer.

Optionally mark email as read when archiving
I'll often go through a bunch of newletters and archive them, often without reading them. When I do, they still appear in 'All Mail' as unread. It would be good to optionally be able to 'Mark Read' when an email is archived.

UI for advanced Sieve Scripts
UI for more advanced Sieve Scripts, especially for nested Sieve-Script (for example moving mails based on sender and add labels depending on subject).

Calendar Week view improvement
The existing Week view in Calendar is too busy and cluttered.
This is in both Desktop and Android Mobile.
An additional Week view layout that shows just 7 days, without the full list of times displayed would be a better user experience.
The Android calendar app "aCalendar" by Tapir Apps has a much nicer layout for the Week view.
See below for example screenshots (fifth screenshot is the Week view):

Stop labeling emails as [Possible phishing attempt]
Probably 50% of my emails have this label. 0% of them are phishing attempts. Also actual phishing emails are not flagged (I actually just received one 10 minutes after submitting this). If you're not able to even remotely accurately label them (which you aren't), you should just stop. It's annoying and obscures the actual subject line of the email.

Support older MacOS versions (e.g. Mojave 10.14.6)
Is it possible to support older OS versions with a desktop app? Even a reduced feature set would be fine.
My OS version is MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 for several reasons (stability, performance, etc.).
I still like the convenience of a desktop app to handle my various email addresses for quick access (versus web interface).

Backup & Restore
t's too bad that ProtonMail doesn't have a GUI Backup & Recovery
Tool, instead of having to recover and install backup messages
using the Terminal and DOS or Bridge which makes it more difficult and tedious.I had no problem saving messages backup as .eml files to ProtonDrive as
a backup; restoring and importing backup messages back into ProtonMail
should be just as easy.ProtonMail should have a more intuitive way to restore and import backup
messages back into ProtonMail.6 votes -
Alias mail forwarding to sub-addresses of the account
Currently when creating a mail alias, it only lets you forward it to your main mail. If you were able to select one of the extra email addresses you created on your account, you could automate Filters based on the sub-mailaddress it gets in to, and thus automate the handling of that email accordingly (placing it in a certain folder, add a label, etc...)
Example: Currently when I add an email alias, in my Filters I need to add it to a list of all kinds of aliases for that specific filter. If instead I could forward the email alias to a sub-mailaddress, the filter would only have to listen to that specific mail address to work. Moreover, whenever a new alias is created that forwards to that specific sub-mailaddress, the Filter will automatically be in use for that new Alias.

Thunderbird native support
It would be nice that you support Thunderbird natively, not with Proton Bridges, maybe with a plugin
I'd like also native support for Thunderbird for Android46 votes -
Add Holocene calendar support
To say we are in the year 2026 is to erase the first cities, the first seeds, and the first stars we named. It cuts the human story in half.
The Fix: Holocene Calendar (HE)
We add 10,000 years to the current date to honor the complete human era. 12,026 is the honest year of our civilization.https://holocene.info/

Reword the alias tip.
This is extremely minor.
The current tip reads
```
When you sign up for a newsletter, use an alias instead of your email address. Your identity stays hidden, and you can disable the alias at any time.Aliases cannot be used when an extra password is enabled in Proton Pass.
```I feel like the last sentence is misleading? It should say something along the lines of "cannot be managed within proton mail when extra password is enabled".
I can perfectly use aliases when signing up for newsletters with extra password enabled.3 votes -
Stop serving ads to your paid users
When using the web browser client, paid users get served Proton's own adverts in the form of promotional bars. Please give us the option to opt out of your own ads.

Turn off "set as default" in email
I get a big "set as default" banner at the top of Proton mail any time I open it. I can dismiss it but it comes back with the next restart of the application.
I am not ready to make Proton my default yet and it would be nice to be able to dismiss this permanently, or even have it pop up once a month or something.
This is in Windows 10.

Collapsible replies within an existing message
Current email messages that are replies of replies of replies are well organized in threads, however the email message itself is extremely long and having to scroll through the messages within a thread defeats the purpose if we are unable to see just the message and not the quoted text.
It would be great if you can collapse the quoted text. That's the feature request. Nothing crazy, just a way to hide sections of the email that are redundant and not useful (since the thread actually exists).

Less resource-heavy Proton Mail App for Mac OS
The Mac OS Proton Mail app is sometimes extremely resource heavy, specially when replying to long email chains with lots of previous attachments. I have a screen grab of Proton mail using up more resources CPU and memory wise than Adobe Media encoder working on NotchLC video files. Waiting several seconds to see your words you've typed appear onscreen is not usable. I keep having to use chrome instead on these types of mails.

Backup all events or current event in Calendar
Offer to backup either all events, or per event. There would be a toggle. This would allow you to restore a previous event, in the event you change it after, or need to restore it. The space needed to store these backed up events, would use your proton drive space.
