Shred message(s), for immediate deletion without going through the trash
Sometimes I get transient emails, like notifications from services that I don't want cluttering up the trash. I'd love an option to manually shred them (maybe option + delete button), and as an action in the filters. You can add additional guardrails ("are you sure), just allow me to ultimately turn them off

Configurable reminders for muted email categories
The new email categories—such as Social, Promotions, and Transactions—are a great way to keep the inbox more organized. However, when a category is muted, it can become easy to forget to check it altogether, even when new messages have arrived.
I would love to see configurable reminders for individual categories. If there are new messages since I last viewed a category, Proton Mail could show a subtle reminder:
- At a chosen time, such as every evening
- At a configurable frequency, for example daily or weekly
- Only when the category contains unread messages since it was last opened
Ideally, this would be optional and discreet—not a push notification for every new email, but rather a periodic summary or reminder.
Previously, filters could be used to silence certain types of email, but those messages would still appear in the inbox and remain visible. Categories solve that problem much better, but muting a category can make it too easy to overlook it entirely. A scheduled reminder would create a better balance between a calm inbox and not missing messages that are still worth reviewing occasionally.

Add support for browser email verification
There's a new browser standard being worked on by Google Chrome and gmail to remove the authentication step when registering or signing in on a website.
If Proton Mail adds the mail provider support on their side, it would make future support for this seamless authentication system that much easier.

Support Email Security Gateways (ESG) the way Google and Microsoft do
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 already support ESG on incoming and outgoing emails for years. More users and organizations are required to run a gateway nowadays.
What BOTH Google and Microsoft already provide:
1. Declare your gateway IPs as a trusted source.
2. Detect the last hop prior to the gateway (finding the real sender IP).
3. Reject anything that did not come through the gateway IPs.
4. Enforce TLS on the connection from the gateway.
5. Support routing outgoing emails through the gateway.I hope Proton can add support for these 5 features first. Thank you.

Requesting read receipts in Proton Mail
Currently, read receipts must be set individually for each new email. Would it be possible to add an option in the general settings to request read receipts for all new messages?

Connect to "Random Country" option
Please add an option for "Random Country" next to the option "Fastest Country" in the Proton VPN app
Currently there is only two options in the Android app for Proton VPN:
- Fastest Country
- Last connection
...this is a problem, because it makes it means that a user's going to be frequently using the same server.
This is bad for users who want to switch between servers frequently -- which is better for privacy.
This is also bad for users who are experiencing issues where the server selected by the "fastest server" algorithm gets stuck on a country that has implemented fascistic internet laws or experiences geo locks. If a user is presented, for example, with either a "please give your government-issued ID to this third party provider to view the content of this website" or "due to GDPR, the content on this website is blocked from your country", then there's no easy way to tell the Proton VPN app "yeah, this country doesn't work; let's try again with another random country"
The only option currently is for a user to manually select a country. Which, again, means their traffic will get pidgin-holed in a single country over-and-over, decreasing their online privacy and making them more vulnerable to surveillance and traffic correlation attacks.
The solution to this is to add a third option to the above-listed options, named:
[3] Random Country
When "Random Country" is selected, every time Proton VPN connects, the algorithm to decide which server to connect to should first pick a random country from the list of available countries, and then pick a random server in that country's available servers. And connect to it.
This means that, when the "Random Country" is enabled, when a user clicks "Disconnect" and then "Reconnect", Proton VPN should connect to a different server almost every time.
This allows a user to quickly "alt tab" to their VPN app, tap twice (disconnect-connect) and then "alt tab" back to their web browser and refresh if they've encountered geo blocking or other issues with their current VPN exit.

Per-event free/busy status toggle in Proton Calendar (essential for appointment scheduling)
Currently, Proton Calendar only allows busy/free status sharing as an all-or-nothing, calendar-level setting. There is no way to mark individual events as "free" or "busy" on a per-event basis — a feature that exists in Google Calendar, Outlook, and most major calendar applications.
This limitation creates a significant functional gap in Proton Calendar's appointment scheduling feature.
The Problem:
When a user creates a public booking page, Proton Calendar determines available slots based on whether any event exists on the calendar at a given time. Without per-event free/busy control, this leads to inaccurate availability representation:Scenario 1 — Over-blocking: A user has a personal commitment (e.g., gym, lunch, flexible errand) that they'd be willing to reschedule if a client needs that time slot. Because it appears as an event on the calendar, the booking page marks that time as unavailable — even though the user would accept a booking there. The only workaround is deleting the event entirely, losing the reminder and context.
Scenario 2 — Under-blocking: A user wants to reserve "focus time" or hold tentative blocks without making them hard commitments, but still allow trusted colleagues to book over them if urgent. Currently there's no way to mark these as "free" while keeping them visible on the calendar.
What's Needed - Add a per-event toggle in the event creation/editing dialog — similar to Google Calendar's "Show as: Busy / Free" dropdown — that allows users to:
Mark individual events as "Free" so they don't block availability on booking pages or shared busy status, while still appearing on the user's own calendar for reference
Mark individual events as "Busy" so they do block availability (default behavior)
Optionally support additional statuses (Tentative, Out of Office) for even more nuanced scheduling
Why This Matters:
Appointment scheduling is less useful without it. Real-life schedules include flexible, movable, or low-priority commitments. Without per-event control, booking pages can't accurately reflect a user's true availability.
Privacy-conscious professionals need this. Many Proton users are freelancers, consultants, therapists, lawyers, or small business owners who blend personal and professional calendars. Per-event free/busy control is essential for managing that blend without compromising privacy or convenience.
Competitors already offer this. Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and Fastmail all support per-event free/busy status. Proton Calendar should match this baseline functionality to be a viable alternative.
Use Cases:
- A consultant blocks a lunch break but would move it for a paying client
- A therapist holds tentative appointment slots that may open up
- A freelancer marks gym time as "free" so booking pages show availability
- A team lead reserves focus time but allows override for urgent meetingsPlease add per-event free/busy status control to Proton Calendar — it would significantly improve both the core calendar experience and the appointment scheduling workflow.

Hide folders and categories feature when not used
Folders and categories are a great feature, but if they are not in use, I don't want to see the icons below my e-mail folders. I'd like to be able to hide them for a cleaner UI.

Calendar reminders with "Urgent" option
Be able to create "urgent" reminders like the ones just introduced in the native iOS Calendar App. Very useful!:
https://www.macrumors.com/2025/11/04/ios-26-2-alarms-reminders-app/"In iOS 26.2, there's a new option to set an alarm to go off when creating a reminder in the Reminders app. When adding a reminder, selecting a time and then toggling on the "Urgent" option will cause an alarm to go off at the designated time."
"Alarms that you set in the Clock app can also be integrated into the Reminders app by allowing the app to access Alarms in the Settings app.
When a Reminder alarm activates, it displays a snooze option or a slide to stop option. If you snooze it, it will show a countdown on the Lock Screen that includes an option to complete the reminder or reschedule it. Tapping to complete the reminder opens up the Reminders app where you need to tap again.
In the Reminders section of the Settings app, you can also opt to remove the snooze option and replace it with a Complete button to immediately mark it as complete. Apple distinguishes Reminders alarms from standard alarms with a new blue color."

Reply to email with aliases
When replying to an email, and it was sent from an alias, auto select that alias, so the person knows who it is from. Having to manually select an email address can get tedious. A toggle could be added to allow this behavior or not.
