Improve contacts groups management
The overall experience on managing contacts on proton has become really bad.
You cannot create groups, meaning list of contacts, from csv, so if you make a contact list of 80 people for work, you have to add all them manually to a group. If you have multiple groups to create it quickly becomes a nightmare. If you send an email to a group, it does not save ?? So if you want to prove an email has been sent or reuse it, well you cannot, you either make screenshots or external records to proton, or you have nothing
.
I do not understant why business accounts have such limited options, but as someone on a visionnary account, I am thinking on leaving proton altogether because I no longer have the patience to do everything manually. Actually I have rarely create groups and used other platforms because of it.On top of that, managing the groups once it's created is really bad : it does not detect doubles, you cannot modify badly typed emails. There are no subgroups, and the contact window is extremely narrow instead of being a full page. It is neither accessible nor nice to use. Being stuck to do everything on a tiny portion of the screens make zero sense. And the worst part is that plenty of times, the tiny contacts button simply does not appear, and there are no other ways to open the tiny contact window. There a no links to contacts in the left panel or anywhere. In the mobile app it's completely at the bottom and limited. I do not understand.
So an email app makes it really difficult to reach and manages our contacts. I am starting to wonder what is the poin.. I just had a horrible time managing a group and I am weighting my options.
The contacts are so neglected that there are no "Proton Contacts" app.
Please consider changing the core of what is used in an emailing service.

Remove forwarding recipient confirmation
I am using a third party application having a catchall mailbox. I would like to forward all emails with specific conditions to this mailbox. However, this is not working as the third party application won't confirm the confirmation request sent by Proton. Can we have an option to not ask for confirmation from the recipient?

Upgrade Proton Mail app from using X11 to Wayland on Linux
Currently proton mail app on Linux is using X11/Xorg backend.
Project is now dead or close to be. It would be nice to update the app to use Wayland backend on every platform where it is available.

Let us set email expiry through fitlers without converting to sieve
I would like to use the filter UI to set an expiry time for emails. This would be equivalent to setting something like this in a sieve: expire "day" "7";
While this is already possible with sieves, sieves are complicated, and once you begin using a feature that is only available through sieves, you can only edit it as a sieve. The UI is much more intuitive and I'd love to see this feature exposed through the UI.

Propagate notification settings for appointment to all who share the calendar
This has been shared in other words below, but when I input an appointment on a shared calendar, I want the notifications I set for that appointment to be applied to all users, not just me. As of now, the user's calendar will apply its own default notification settings to any new appts added by other users on the calendar.

Labeled messages with folder should still go to inbox unless chosen to archive
Labeled messages with folder should still go to inbox unless chosen to archive. Labeling messages and designating a folder does not mean to skip the inbox. Only if chosen to archive it should skip the inbox. In Gmail I have +300 folders and labels even more. It's easy to open a message and then to select the label. All messages with this label will show up. In Protonmail I need to go through +300 folders to find the unread messages that have been classified while unread due to skipping the inbox.

Support local language for holiday calendar
The holiday calendar should have the option to display the events in the local language. The English translation is often a bit weird and it is therefore hard to grasp at a glance the purpose and reason for the holiday.
Furthermore, It should be possible to decouple this option from the UI language. As someone who speaks multiple languages, it is always a vastly better experience to use English for the user interface. Compared to other languages, English is more searchable, consistent across applications, and has more thought and care put into it.

Mail and event reminder on Linux
On the Linux client, mail and calendar reminders are issued via the integrated notification system. At least that's how it is with Linux Mint. Unfortunately, this is pretty bad and confusing. It would be nice if the Linux client displayed its own windows for announcing an email or notifying an event (including a snooze and dismiss button).

Confusing icons in Proton Mail on web
When I open an email, I see two toolbars. For example, the icon for deleting an email is in both the top toolbar and the toolbar next to the email. But the icon for archiving is only in the top toolbar. Similarly, the icon for snoozing an email is in the top toolbar, but it's missing from the bottom toolbar. And there are many icons that appear in both toolbars. I don't understand why this is the case. If there is a purpose to it, I really don't understand it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It would be good to either add some help or, better yet, redesign it.
What is really bad is the display of conversations. When collapsed, they take up a lot of space, and I can't find my way around long threads.

Email organiser module using AI
I'm an IT engineer working on DEVOPS and AI applications.
I would like to have an AI assistant that is able to:
- analyze my mail box history (full, partial by time range), one shot or recurring
- propose a folder tree structure and have an interface where the user can accept/modify/reject the changes
- propose a list of tags and have an interface where the user can accept/modify/reject the changes

Folder Icons in Addition to Colors
In addition to folder colors, which we could have more of, would it be possible to add simple shapes to folders for more customization? For example, overlay a small plus sign, cross, circle, square and more on top of the folder icon.
With this we could label folders not only as green or blue, but green, blue, green with triangle, blue with plus sign, etc.
Since folders and backgrounds can be various colors, the icon might need color options too. Settings such as transparent (ie the shape will be cut out of the folder and take the color of the background) or taking the inverse of the folder color would be useful along with manual selection.

Proton Calendar mobile app Alarm support
In short: Proton Calendar mobile app support for alarms in addition to just notifications or email.
If you have vibrate profile on, there is no sound with notifications from the calendar app.
Now alarms (from the clock app for example) will always use sound, even if you have "only vibrate" on.
I am used to setting events in advance and creating multiple alarms so I am not late for or miss anything important. It is not practical to use the clock app for that. Samsung (and I think Google) calendar support this.3 votes -
Display text prefix for Holiday calendar event descriptions
I have added holiday calendars for UK, Canada, USA, and Australia which display as expected, however, on a day such as 'Christmas Day' there are 4 such identical entries listed. On the windows app, moving the mouse over each just displays the same rollover text 'Christmas Day' it does not specify which calendar it came from.
When configuring each 'external' calendar it would be nice to be able to add a text 'PREFIX' to be added before the calendar even text such as 'UK', USA', such that 'UK: Christmas Day' and 'USA: Christmas Day' would differentiate each.
Due to the limited color selections, it is hard use this method.
Thanks!

Highlight 'today' in monthly calendar view
When viewing monthly calendar view (especially in dark mode) the current day (today) has only a single line highlight around the day number, this is hard to locate. Drawing a distinctive (e.g. bright yellow or orange) highlight around the whole day box or changing the background color to something contrasting would help.
All dark mode background highlights need to be 'turned up' in brightness as they are hard to see or interfere with readability. You can make these things options next to the Dark / Light / System selection to vary contrast or highlight intensity.
Thanks, loving Proton!

Support email redirect
Right now the "Forward email" rules are severely limited, as they are not full-fledged redirects.
This means that forwards still end up in the main Inbox (so you have to have an extra filter rule to trash them, and these rules do not work at all on BCC recipient addresses.).
Please add the option to treat forwards as full redirects.

User Defined Event Type
One could set an event type i.e.: gym session, romantic date, friend date, etc.
Then, set color scheme, time allotted, reminder schedule for each event typeWhen setting up a new event, a dropdown of user defined event types, click on event type and just change the date and title!
Seems simple, no?

move event from personal to shared calendar
Move event from personal calendar to shared calendar
I have events in my personal calendar that become relevant to others that I have a shared calendar with. The other user is the shared calendar owner. I can create an event in the shared calendar but I want to be able to edit the event I have already created and select the shared calendar. Currently it only shows my personal calendars when I try to do this edit.
I use proton calendar on both web and IOS 15.8.4 (I have an older iPhone) this issue persists in both versions.
It has been resolved in IOS 18 but I cannot use that.

Reader
I read lots of articles in ProtonMail. Would be great to have Reader feature like I use in Firefox. I use sepia background, bold non-serif font, adjust width and line distance.
