Daily event summaries
Summary:
Receive a daily summary for all time-specific and all-day events (also if no events are scheduled)Description:
Some calendar applications allow you to configure a "daily event summary" notification (preferably via email). Such summaries contain an overview of all scheduled events (all-day and specific-time events) and is sent early in the morning. For example, Google Calendar provides "Daily Agenda", described as: "Receive an email with your agenda every day at 5 a.m. in your current time zone").Ideal implementation (to me):
- Create an account-wide setting to configure daily summaries:
* Globally enable/disable daily calendar/event summaries
* If enabled, allow configuring the time at which to send the summary
* If enabled, allow configuring the notification method (email/notification)
* [extra] If enabled, allow more configuration, for example:
> Send summaries X days in advance instead of the day before
> Send weekly summaries instead of daily
- Create per-calendar settings to include/exclude that calendar from summaries
- For summaries sent via email: send a nicely formatted vertical timeline for an intuitive overview
- [extra] Allow individual events to be excluded from the summariesWhy default notification settings are insufficient:
Proton Calendar currently lets you set default notifications for each calendar. However, these options are not sufficient to create proper event summaries:
1. Only all-day events allow you to set the time at which to send an email notification (time-specific events will just be sent a day before)
2. If there are no events on a day, no summary will be sent (ideally, I'd like to receive an email that says: "you have no events scheduled")
3. Default notifications are just "event reminder", not a summary; notifications aren't send as an intuitive timeline or other logical "summary" formatSummary:

Reader
I read lots of articles in ProtonMail. Would be great to have Reader feature like I use in Firefox. I use sepia background, bold non-serif font, adjust width and line distance.

Open file or folder after saving attachment
I am using the Proton Mail Desktop app.
The first thing i want to do after saving a mail attachment is to open that file or folder.
My feature request is to show an option to open the saved attachment from the stored location or open the folder to e.g. extract the zip file.
At the moment, i first need to navigate to the folder i want to store the attachment. Then i need to open Windows File Explorer to navigate again to that folder.
Other software does have exactly that option e.g. MS Edge web browser. There i can open the after download or open the folder.
This feature would save me a lot of frustrating folder navigation.
Thanks a lot.

My family likes to plan travels in a Proton doc. Would be great if I could directly show and edit a (part of a) calendar inside a Proton Doc!

Automatic merge of a free Proton account into a paid one (recover old @proton.me address)
Dear Proton Team,
I just upgraded to Proton Unlimited and, like many long-time users, my main address is still stuck on an old free account.
The current manual process (support → delete free account → manually re-add the address) is painful and causes permanent data loss.
Please add a long-requested feature:
Self-service merge of a free Proton account into an existing paid account
Desired flow:In the paid account → Settings → Identities & addresses → “Import old Proton address”
Secure authentication on the free account (password + 2FA)
The old address is automatically added as an additional address/alias in the paid plan
User choice:
– Keep all emails and folders from the old account (full merge) OR
– Only recover the address (delete free account after migration)This would:
Drastically reduce support tickets (this is the #1 request on Reddit/Proton community)
Remove a major barrier to upgrading to paid plans
Bring Proton on par (or ahead) of competitors like Tuta and FastmailThousands of us are waiting for this. It would be a game-changer.
Thank you for considering!Dear Proton Team,

Extended notifications
Even if it may be a privacy issue, there's should be an option to enable extended notifications: notification should display a summary or the initial text in email body, to be able to dismiss or delete email without opening the app. This is especially useful with wearable device.

Filter Based On Environment
It would be greatly appreciated if there was the ability to filter existing emails based on environment with a custom sieve filter. There are a number of reasons why this could benefit everyone trying to organize their emails as they adapt into Proton Mail.
Here are my issues with not having this ability:
Importing a large batch of emails with Easy Switch usually calls for manually applying filters to existing mail.
This means all my emails in the trash are relabeled and clutter my label filters. I now have to either delete the trash permanently or move the emails out and back into the trash to remove the labels again. This problem extends to my archived mail. I don't want to relabel them after they have just been sorted into the archive. Not having the ability to avoid labeling these adds them back into the "unarchived" labels I just removed.
I know that this is possible because it is provided by default to avoid the spam inbox. This concept should really be expanded upon.
environment :matches "vnd.proton.spam-threshold" "*",
spamtest :value "ge" :comparator "i;ascii-numeric" "${1}"
Some extra details, I don't use custom folders at all and only custom labels. This is due to the fact that the ability to have a combined inbox is lost if you use folders. All mail is not sufficient because that includes sent mail and archived mail which isn't the same as a combined inbox. I think it would be beneficial to include the ability to exclude archived mail from other inboxes just like you can with trash and spam. The above labeling issue could also be resolved with having the ability to remove archived or trash/spam mail from a label filter.
I don't want all this, just looking for anyway to keep archive mail in the archive only and trash in the trash only. This includes out of other labels.

Add color to event based on #tag in event title or body
I'd like to define tags or keywords and associate them with a color in my calendar. For example if I have a calendar entry that has the title "Drop off #kids" it would be colored green because of the tag #kids. If there is an entry such as "#meeting for lunch with Silvio" it would be colored yellow because of #meeting and so on.
The tags could be in the title or in the body. This would also allow a very easy synchronization of colors for shared calendars, because you only have to share the coloring rules for each party and then the colors are applied automatically.

Client-Side Filtering to Enable Full Header Encryption
ProtonMail utilizes End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for email bodies, though metadata and headers currently remain unencrypted to facilitate server-side filtering (I assume). This architecture allows the server to instantly sort incoming messages into folders, apply labels, manage expiration dates, or discard emails based on user-defined rules.
A potential enhancement to this system involves implementing content-based filtering. While server-side analysis of encrypted bodies is technically unfeasible due to the E2EE protocol, filtering could be offloaded to the client side. Once a user logs in and the client decrypts the message locally, the application could execute comprehensive filtering rules and synchronize the resulting organizational changes back to the remote servers.
Furthermore, transitioning to client-side filtering offers a significant security advantage: it enables the hardening of server-side storage. By removing the server's need to access headers for routing, Proton could implement full-message encryption (headers and body).

Calendar Week view improvement
The existing Week view in Calendar is too busy and cluttered.
This is in both Desktop and Android Mobile.
An additional Week view layout that shows just 7 days, without the full list of times displayed would be a better user experience.
The Android calendar app "aCalendar" by Tapir Apps has a much nicer layout for the Week view.
See below for example screenshots (fifth screenshot is the Week view):

Support older MacOS versions (e.g. Mojave 10.14.6)
Is it possible to support older OS versions with a desktop app? Even a reduced feature set would be fine.
My OS version is MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 for several reasons (stability, performance, etc.).
I still like the convenience of a desktop app to handle my various email addresses for quick access (versus web interface).

Backup & Restore
t's too bad that ProtonMail doesn't have a GUI Backup & Recovery
Tool, instead of having to recover and install backup messages
using the Terminal and DOS or Bridge which makes it more difficult and tedious.I had no problem saving messages backup as .eml files to ProtonDrive as
a backup; restoring and importing backup messages back into ProtonMail
should be just as easy.ProtonMail should have a more intuitive way to restore and import backup
messages back into ProtonMail.6 votes -
Make importing .VCF files easier to find
Make importing .VCF files easier to find. I can never remember how to do this, and it's not in Settings. That happens when my contacts icon is hidden, and I rack my brain to try to remember how I did it last time. It takes too many clicks. Can you make this easier/faster to do in the UI, perhaps? What about drag 'n drop, or adding it to the left frame in email, as Contacts are closely associated with email. (This is the Microsoft Outlook way of doing it.) Thank you!
