Remove secret-service requirement from Proton Mail Bridge (Linux)
Proton Mail Bridge for Linux's requirement for a secret-service adds complexity to the installation process. Even using the
passutility as suggested, GPG also needs to be installed and a GPG key generated to initialize the password store. Removing the secret service requirement would simplify the installation, reduce the 'weight' of the installation (number of steps and installed packages), and simplify what needs to be backed up. Storing the vault key is also a security hazard as it makes the data (credentials, email messages, etc.) recoverable for anyone with the home directory or a backup of the directory.Using a…

Push notifications in Desktop Browsers via service workers & WebPush API.
When using Telegram Web in Firefox, I noticed that I received Push notifications without the site open. Upon search, found that, it registered a service worker and used Mozilla Push API service to fetch notifications.
Source : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/push-notifications-firefox
Similar is possible with FCM in Chromium.
Please use these workers to push notifications in Desktop browsers. Can be handy when not using Desktop clients and saves memory where the user doesn't need to have the tab open always.
P.S. It should not expose any metadata such as Email address or Subject line. Only that new email received.
If you are exposing…

Manage Email Expiration Dates in Proton Mail
Introduction
When receiving marketing emails, I want to be able to identify messages with expiration dates, especially those that have already expired, in order to effectively declutter my inbox and actively contribute to reducing the ecological impact associated with storing these expired messages.
Problem and Context
The "Email Expiration Date" project aims to reduce the environmental impact of commercial emails by facilitating the deletion of outdated messages. Currently, email clients lack integrated tools to effectively manage the deletion of emails sent by advertisers who have set an expiration date. Implementing this feature in email clients would provide users with effective…

PDF viewer in Android ProtonMail app, with easy save to ProtonDrive
Completed request 7808634 was for pdf preview, which of course works in ProtonMail Windows app, and also in ProtonDrive Android.
But in ProtonMail Android, although I've updated to latest version, the "Open With" for pdf attachments doesn't offer me an integrated Proton pdf viewer.
Only 3rd party ones, including Google Drive and Dropbox... giving me a quick workflow to save recieved pdfs into Dropbox. But of course I'd like my default cloud to be ProtonDrive!4 votes -
Add sender email to contacts shortcut
Seems like adding a sender's email to contacts in PM Android should be available but can't find it. Please add a link to open a new contact when doing a long press on a sender's email in the email header.

Allow to print email thread
In an email thread, it seems that to print the conversation, one would need to print each email individually. It would be easier and also more economic to have a print view and button for the whole thread (perhaps similar to how Gmail solves this).

Setting: Automatic Outgoing Email Expiration Time
I would like the option to set a default expiration time for all outgoing emails.
While it's already possible to manually set an expiration date on individual messages, it's easy to forget to do so before sending. A global setting would allow users to automatically apply an expiration period (for example, one year) to every email they send.
Users who enable this feature could still adjust or disable the expiration time on a per-email basis when needed. This would provide a convenient privacy-focused default while maintaining flexibility for exceptions.

Support for custom Return-Path / Envelope-From in Proton SMTP
Currently, Proton SMTP requires the Return-Path (envelope sender) to match the authenticated sending address. This makes it impossible to use dedicated bounce addresses such as bounce@domain.com, which are required by many business applications, including Odoo, CRM systems, ticketing platforms, and newsletter tools.
Please add support for a custom Return-Path / envelope sender while still enforcing that the domain belongs to a verified Proton Mail domain. This would enable proper bounce processing, DMARC-compliant email workflows, and integration with common business software without requiring external SMTP relay services.
This feature would significantly improve Proton Mail's suitability as a business email platform.

I would like to be able to highlight text in an email and select "Search in Browser" or "Translate with ***" (in my case DeepL
I will often see a reference that I want to follow up on or research. I'd like to be able to highlight it and then right click to use my default browser to search online. Similarly, if I get an email with foreign text, I'd like a Translate function.

Trafft Integration
I use Trafft as my booking system. It relies on an integration with Google calendar in order to check if I'm free for appointments. It's a 2 way system, so Trafft can read my Google calendar, and also write new appointments to it. This isn't possible with Proton, which is why my calendars are still with Google. I'd love to move them. Can you make this happen?

Option to select oldest conversations in the trash
When you're trying to clean up the trash on the web client, you can either select every message one-by-one or select all of them at once; you cannot select, for example, the oldest 500. The selection checkbox only has options to "select all", select read/unread and starred/unstarred.
I currently have 8000 messages in my trash (I just found out that it doesn't auto-delete on free accounts 🤡), so I'd like to delete only the oldest 7500. For safety, I don't want to wipe all the newer messages; who knows, I might need to recover something in there.

Options to send (large) images using my iPhone and iPad
Proton Mail is lacking standard options for sending images in e-mails. The basic option that should be available is this one:
- Give the user an option to embed/attach the image as small/medium/large/original. This is standard in all mail clients that I use. Proton is lacking this option that is used extensively with the users that I have gotten to move over to Proton. The workaround for now is to have another mail account that can be used with a standard mail client, and send images that way.To make things nicer for sending original quality images, Proton could implement…

Disable pop-up tips/hints
When I'm doing bulk updates in the web app such as selecting multiple emails to mark as read and delete, the pop-up hint always blocks the button to mark emails as read. I have to wait for it to fade or quickly click somewhere else. I'd like to have the option to disable these pop-ups.

Need pop up event notifications like Outlook does
Calendar event notifications should pop up in a new window just like calendar event notifications in Outlook. Currently they only show up in the Windows notification section in the lower right corner, but it's too easy to miss. I've missed some reminders because of this, whereas with Outlook I never missed reminders because there would be a flashing pop up window on my desktop.
This seems like it would be an easy add but it's also kind of critical for me because the whole reason for calendar event notifications is to see them and be reminded.
