This would be sooooo useful! An absolute game changer really.

A proton contacts app that can be used by other apps on the smartphone or a sync feature. These days if you have a contact in proton you can not use the data outside of proton (for a phone call for example). And data in your devices contacts list are not accessible from proton for use (except importing). That was you have to deal with two completely separate contact lists. It is very annoying and honestly keeps me back from using Proton as a complete solution.

Please make a standalone app. I like the benefits of Google Contacts having a cloud saved contacts list but want to leave Google.

has this request actually been open since 2022 ie three plus years ago?

Dear Proton Team, As a committed Proton user, I value privacy and security in all my communications. However, the lack of real-time contact sync between Proton Contacts and the default Android contacts database creates friction and limits Proton’s usability as a daily driver. My goal is to be completely off Google by the end of 2025, so seamless, two-way synchronization (ideally via CardDAV) is essential for me to use Proton Contacts as my primary contact source. Please prioritize and release this feature within this year. This update would greatly improve adoption and trust in the Proton ecosystem. Thank you!

Even before Proton releases a dedicated contacts application, I would like to be able to search contacts in Proton Mail not only for names or email addresses, but also for the contents of notes.

This is the last missing puzzle stone from Proton, which enables me to quite iCloud for my entire family!

This would bring me over to being a paid subscriber. Really should be available now.

Proton, this is the biggest security and privacy hole you have. Can't believe you haven't build this yet. This should be your top priority. Please, please, please get this built.

Proton needs to implement a proper contacts app, the fact that this has not yet been implemented makes me even more Protonskeptic.

Would be a great addition to the Proton ecosystem, and one more way to disconnect from Google-based services. It would also be great to directly edit contact birthdays and have these synced to Proton Calendar.

We need a standalone proton contacts app asap.. Hate going into proton mail to update or add a contact. Most likely forgetting to do so anyway

That there are inconsistencies on the web or app versions of Proton products is acceptable in the logic of development/update but that, despite years having passed since the initial requests, there is still no possibility of using your Proton address book on Android calls into question the coherence of an alternative project to Google. Make an effort to be coherent

A great feature to make the difference with other services could be to proton to detect who have my number into their contact list and to choose if i want them to keep it or not.

People are installing dozen of application on their phone that have access to their contact list and then to your number ...

LOL I just did a direct request some days ago regarding this.
Proton really NEEDS to make a dedicated contacts app. It would fit perfectly into their eco system AND could be advertised as an alternative to Google Contacts.
