Yes, contacts sync is a great miss and has been ever since protonmails inception.
Please make this happen finally, I am tired of waiting. This really is basic and important functionality.

I've been trialling the free version of Proton Mail since December 2022 but I won't migrate to it nor pay for any paid plans until Proton contacts can be synchronised with an Android phone. So hoping that this feature will be implemented soon as I'm otherwise very keen to make the switch to Proton!

If this idea was a person it would be in 1st grade by now.

This needs to be moved higher on the priority list! Such a huge time waster, managing two Contacts apps on our mobile devices. Make Proton Contacts its own mobile app, then we'll be efficient again.

Planned since January 2019? Get serious!
Make Proton Contacts a fully functional Android app! -

Seems crazy that this is still not been addressed by the Proton team! Like many others, I really like many of the Proton apps and features but will not renew my paid account until contact sync has been added - please make this a priority!

I was just about to subscribe to Proton Unlimited but then found that Android can't see or use Proton Contacts. I can't switch to Proton until Android can use Proton Contacts as its contacts app, or at the very least Proton Contacts can be synced with the phone. Seems like this is important to a lot of people. Please prioritise this!

I'm trying to keep my contacts of my creepy phone (google + MUIU), but before I did it all manually, it might have been nice to sync from the phone contacts to the Protonmail contacts and then delete the phone contacts. Although, it was cathartic to find out how many contacts just didn't matter.

This quickly becomes a topic of conversation when meeting fellow users for the first time.
Needs to be fixed.
Alternatively, let me call/text/mail directly from a proton interface.
Or make it trivial to sync - autosync.Or at the very least, give us easy to find instructions that are up-to-date and clear.
Or script it for us.Anyway that I look at thism this is a major pain and hinder for adopting Proton on trhe mobile.
It is not possible to introduce Proton services to my family until this is fixed.
I am not sure that our Family subscription shall be renewed due to this issue.
Thank you Proton for all the good work, please fix this embarrassment.
All the best.

I was really disappointed that this isnt working with proton on android. That is a bummer for me. Now I still need to use other providers for contact sync.

I highly recommend Proton an idea already mentioned earlier in this thread, to partner with GrapheneOS to create the perfect integration to solve this problem quicker.
We need a true challenger to the Google ecosystem. There are plenty of opportunities like this to make it happen. Proton partnered with SimpleLogin already, repeat this approach, don't reinvent the wheel yourself Proton. GrapheneOS is brilliant and the reall first mobile OS which can compete without compromising on security.
This contacts sync issue has been raised in 2019, we're leaning toward end of 2024. We can't continue paying 5-6 years each time to see a needed feature released. -

not having CardDAV will ensure i don't waste my money and renew next year. i felt dumb for not researching before i purchased. my whole point was to move away from other providers only to find out one of the simplest and critical items isn't available to sync

Submitted in 2017. Marked as "planned" in 2019!!!!
This kind of thing is why I only paid for 1 account, my family is still on mailbox.org. No idea why I am paying for this product, this company doesn't care about its customers. Proton only cares about social marketing new features for new customers.

Not having this feature makes having contacts in protonmail quite annoying. I have to duplicate contacts, as I need to have access to the email addresses in proton, and the phone number to use in the dialer app.
And having this basic functionality as a 'planned' feature for more than five years is just mind boggling.

Same comment as Moritz, when I first start using Proton I was stoked and so happy to complete de-google. Come to find out Proton just acts like it doesn't know how to put contacts on your phone. Every other Mail app I've used does this. Why is it so hard for Proton to accomplish what others can do?

Why is this taking so long? You had time to develop a Crypto Wallet which very view people need but this basic feature is "Planned" since 5 years?
And don't come to me with that "It is a serious privacy issue". Just make it optional and the user can decide do sync it (and therefore make it visible to other apps) or not. it is as simple as that.
