Improve keyboard shortcuts (gmail like)
Gmail's keyboard shortcuts are basically an industry standard and something many have become used to. e for archive is a must, and the l and v shortcuts are crucial as well.

Kyle said it best:
Please improve shortcut and user functionality in the MacOS app. There are many tasks that are simply slow and cumbersome due to poor design and the number of keystrokes needed.
No need to reinvent the wheel, just use the same shortcuts as an industry standard like gmail.

This needs to be a priority.

I cannot believe that in 2024 this is not fully implemented. Please please PLEASE (with sugar on top) for the love of goodness please implement Gmail like shortcuts!!!!

Yes same as many highlights, there is also a huge issue with focus whereby I need to click to use shortcut. Also the flow of moving a message to a Folder is cumbersome. You cannot just press enter when you are focused on the right item as in Gmail.

Frankly, I'd rather see the Outlook shortcuts but perhaps the solution is a more general purpose, remappable keyboard system.

I am considering switching from Gmail. I don't think I will make the jump to a paid version of Proton without the same vim-like keyboard shortcuts as Gmail. Using arrows makes me move hands too much back and forth.
If you want people to switch from Gmail, consider making it easy, especially for power users who use the shortcuts to manage email efficiently.

I wonder what percent of users are also using Gmail, or are coming from Gmail. This is a bigger deal than the Proton product devs might think. This has a material effect on a day's workflow - having to context switch muscle memory is a PITA.

More would be helpful here.
Specifically, in the MacOS desktop app, a way to switch between the mail and calendar modes would be really nice.
I use Command + 1/2 frequently in Outlook at work and it's quite convenient. It could be some other key combo, but I'd be glad to see *any* option exist.

j x j x j j j x j x and in a few muscle-memory keystrokes, I've just cleaned up four emails I don't need to read.

I am trying to switch over to Proton Mail as my primary email service, but I'm so disappointed that I can't enable GMail shortcuts in Proton Mail... either on the web interface or the beta Mac app. This will prevent me from switching over completely.

Keyboard shortcuts in ProtonMail has been /very/ unreliable, it would lose focus and I keep having to use mouse clicks to get keyboard shortcuts to work again... It would be nice if there was an effort to make the keyboard shortcuts more reliable

I would love to be able to use Ctrl-Shift-7 to create a numbered list and Ctrl-Shift-8 to create a bullet list as I can (and do very often!) in Gmail. Thank you.

100% that should come as standard no matte the operating system or browser. We can do encryption but not keyboard shortcuts? Doesn't add up.

being able to press enter or command+enter to complete an action would be great. At the moment the keyboard actions work partially (on MAC)

I'll leave a link here to the current GMail keyboard shortcuts [https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6594] so you can compare with those offered by Proton {https://proton.me/support/keyboard-shortcuts}.

I see that the navigate to enclosing folder has been implemented via ESC. That's great!
Do we have a way to quickly go through the folder list?

Keyboard shortcuts are critical for people who have difficulty using the mouse due to disability issues, such as tendonitis or blindness. Not having a comprehensive set of shortcuts is a key reason to use alternatives.
Here's another important shortcut need: Adding the ability to go from a message BACK to the enclosing folder/label list. Various email clients do this; for example, in Gmail the keyboard shortcut is U.
Easily being able to quickly navigate the entire user interface, such as to different folders, is absolutely a necessity.

Using 's' for spam is serious issue for me. I have 15 years of muscle memory that 's' is for Star. I continually hit 's' for important messages only to have to dig them out of spam. My real worry is that I don't always notice my mistake and my most important emails are being junked.

I'd like to have this option. Protonmail Shortcuts are not affective on my workflow
