Android TV Kill Switch
Hi,
I am a paying user of the Proton Unlimited pachage and I am very happy with Protons VPN. However, I use an androidbox on my tv and I am missing a killswitch!
Please add this as soon as possible because this is a real deal braker for me and I will probably switch back to Nord VPN if this is not fixed in the near future. I dont get why such an importand setting is not implemented in the android version of your VPN! I read many complaints about this issue on Reddit and people are looking at other,…5 votes -
Ugly Green. Offer additional VPN app theme color choices.
The new redesign is great, except for the ugly grandma kitchen green theme. Also, why is the best look you could come up with is some fading fog of war looking filter as if it's a video game from 1997?
If you're going to stick with the fog of war look, then at least allow us to choose the colors.
I'm cool with all of the other green, it's just that fog look you got. It's really the only theme color that dominates the entire space. I'd much rather that filter be disabled, but if you won't let us disable…

ProtonVPN Docker App
It would be amazing to have ProtonVPN natively support Docker.
There is a github project that had limited support for this, but seems to be broken now that the logicals API (https://api.protonvpn.ch/vpn/logicals) is depreciated.
A full featured Docker app would be very much appreciated

Game Server Proximity Connection
This feature could enhance the gaming experience for VPN users. Upon initiating a gaming session, the VPN would identify the location of the game server to which the user is connected. The VPN would then select and connect to its own server that is geographically closest, or lowest ping to the game server. This process ensures optimal latency and performance by minimizing the distance data has to travel between the VPN server and the game server, potentially providing a better gaming experience.
Functionality:
…1. Initial Connection: When a user starts a game, the VPN detects the connection to the game

Peer-to-Peer Mesh Networking with NAT Traversal
Enables direct peer-to-peer VPN networking, like Tailscale or ZeroTier. This would allow devices on my Proton VPN account to see and connect to each other using private IPs, as if on the same LAN.
This kind of functionality would be very helpful for cloud gaming, remote development, and device syncing, without needing a third-party solution.
Specifically, I’m asking for:
Private IPs for each device on the VPN
Peer-to-peer connectivity with NAT traversal
Optional routing via Proton servers when needed
Thank you for all your amazing work — this feature would make Proton VPN even more powerful.

Integration in GL.iNET firmware
Hi
You already integrated Proton VPN into Vivaldi browser (wich is closed source and looks pretty shady). So can you consider integration your VPN into GL.iNET firmware?
I will be really happy with this. And many GL.iNET customers too.
You can see that it is required by this links:

Auto shutdown when phone put in airplane mode
I would love for the VPN to automatically stop trying to connect when I place my phone in airplane mode and also have it auto connect when I take my phone out of airplane mode.
While in airplane mode (with no WiFi services, such as on a flight) the application keeps attempting to connect to a server. This significantly drains my battery, unless I remember to manually disconnect it after toggling airplane mode on.

Proton VPN’s kill-switch isn’t Direct-Boot aware on GrapheneOS
On GrapheneOS, the updater runs before first unlock (BFU) to grab security patches, but Proton VPN’s kill-switch isn’t Direct-Boot aware. Enabling it brings up the VPN UI BFU, yet no network ever connects, so updates fail until you unlock the device.
Repro:
Install Proton VPN on GrapheneOS (e.g. Pixel 6 Pro 2025.05.15)
Turn on kill-switch
Reboot and stay at lock screen
Watch the BFU updater time out for lack of network
Impact:
Devices miss critical patches until next unlock, extending exposure to exploits.Fix:
• Mark the VPN service as android:directBootAware="true" in AndroidManifest.xml
• Move its config/certs into Device-Protected Storage…4 votes -

Add DoH and DNS-over-QUIC Support for Custom DNS on iOS
I'm excited to see that ProtonVPN iOS now supports custom DNS functionality.
However, I noticed that it currently only supports plaintext UDP DNS queries.
As a privacy-conscious user who chose Proton specifically for its commitment to privacy, I would like to request support for encrypted DNS protocols, specifically DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) and DNS-over-QUIC.Privacy Concerns with Plaintext UDP DNS:
Even when using a VPN, plaintext UDP DNS poses several privacy risks:
1. DNS Query Visibility: While the VPN encrypts the connection between my device and the VPN server, DNS queries from the VPN server to the DNS resolver remain unencrypted and…3 votes -
Device status indicator (how many out of 10 are in use)
Its annoying that their is no overview of how many devices your using out of the 10 allowed.
Also, it would be nice to be able to name your devices if this feature is added.66 votes -
Tailscale exit nodes
I would love to be able to use Proton VPN as exit nodes on Tailscale.
They recently announced support for Mullvad exit nodes, and I'm sure they would be interested in adding more options:

All VPN servers on a global network (a similar feature to Surfshark Nexus)
Currently on Surfshark they have options such as RotatingIP (without any disconnections) thanks to Nexus. This is their name for having all of their VPN severs connected on a global network. This also can change the users server incase of over crowding without any loss of service. (For more info on what it does you can google Surfshark Nexus). Would be nice for a similar feature on Proton.

Extend LAN network through VPN
Add a feature that allows a desktop (or a home server) to be used as an endpoint for VPN connection, allowing the user to use the internet like they are in its local network. Useful to connect to LAN devices safely without exposing them to the Web and for limited services like Netflix that blocks users from other places to connect to the same account.

Re-order protocols
Would be nice to be able to change the order in which defined protocols are displayed, so the most commonly-used ones could be on top.

VPN per site
It would be nice to add a feature to browser extension that would allow to set up different VPN countries (or lack of VPN) per site. This is (or at least was) possible in Zenmate.
