1. Enable custom VPN profiles & seamless multi‑VPN switching on Android (shared kill‑switch)

   Android only permits one active VPN at a time, which forces me to disconnect Proton VPN whenever I need to use my work OpenVPN or my home WireGuard tunnel. Because the kill‑switch is tied to the active tunnel, I lose protection during each switch.

   What I’d like:

2. easier way to report broken/unavailable site

   Currently we are asked to fill out the entire form at https://protonvpn.com/support-form
   It would be nice (likely to result in more feedback, which presumably helps techs to ID issues and fix them) if it was simpler and quicker to report a site is broken due to using Proton VPN.

3. Show server load before selecting secure core for each country feature, new version had removed this feature

   The new version 4.1.13 did not display the server load before selecting. It is slow and troublesome to connect and found that the country server load is high and I have to switch to another country one by one to find out low server load country and this method is very inefficient and resulting proton and users unnecessary servers connecting and disconnecting. Hopefully this pre-display server load feature before secure core connection can be reinstated back into the new version.

5. Support More flexible VPN lite package

   I'm hoping for a Proton VPN Lite plans with a data limit of 3-5TB per month (priced between $4.99-$5.99 per month). The very unstable speeds and high latency at $9.99 per month are really daunting, and compared to other competing VPN products, I think it have no pricing advantage. I hope your teams'll consider it!

6. Allow a config file or something similar for use during automated installs during Windows Sandbox spinup.

   Lots of folks use the Included Sandbox with the Windows Pro versions of 10 & 11. They allow scripts to be run to install apps, like Firefox and VPN's among many others during the OS spinup process.
   
   Allowing the .launcher to have the login and password included would be a great feature or maybe a way to drop a file somewhere that had my configuration info in a place to have your launcher pre-populate those fields for launching the vpn app would be extremely helpful. Having to open my PW manager and copy and paste both the username and password each time I spin the sandbox up makes me no always use the VPN. (paid copy) I like using Proton but if some other vendor implements that feature I would have to switch.

7. The ProtonVPN client works great; I wish I could get PVPN and pfSense working that well.

   The PVPN client performance is stellar, but I seek similar performance for whole home protection by setting up PVPN in a pfSense VirtualBox VM on a separate laptop which doesn't do much else. I've used PVPN via that setup for years. Running speed tests on the same machine as where the pfSense/PVPN VM is running, I have found to be disastrous: incredibly low throughput, no matter what PC it's running on.

   No VPN: 95Mbps. PVPN client: 85Mbps. PVPN+pfSense: 50Mbps (worst case). Those are download speeds given by OpenSpeedTest run from a different PC on the LAN than where the pfSense VM is. Wiregard in client, OpenVPN in pfSense (that can't be worth much).

   I started debugging my pfSense configuration awhile back, but didn't find the issue. I used the guide available on the ProtonVPN website to configure pfSense (available for pfSense 2.7, as I recall). A key thing, though, is that when I upgraded pfSense to version 2.8.1 from 2.7.x, I saw a decrease in throughput (download and upload). That said, while the pfSense upgrade caused some degradation, prior to the upgrade the throughput was also concerning at 30% or more decrease in throughput over using no VPN.

   Any suggestions likely to greatly improve the PVPN throughput when setup in pfSense are appreciated. Also, notes about your experience with router setup of PVPN are appreciated. Better documention from Proton for seting up PVPN with routers and comparisons to the client would be nice.

9. Enable multiple countries for one profile

   Make is possible to choose a pool of countries for a profile with the app choosing the fastest server or randomly choosing one of the countries / servers in the pool.

   I usually use 5 different countries for my everyday cell phone usage. I like to switch them from time to time. It would be nice to have them in one profile, so that country changes automatically when reconnecting.

11. Disassociation of Identity From Activity ('Trustless' Connection)

    Taking a page from Apple's iCloud Private Relay and TOR's onion network, I wish to suggest that Proton partner with another trustworthy provider (such as Mullvad or IVPN) to use their servers as 'exit nodes' in an implementation that would separate activity from identity. This would, of course, be for the benefit of reducing demanded trust in Proton (or their partner), and the 'no logs' promise, ensuring greater privacy by design and not just by policy and practice.

    This isn't Secure Core.

    I figure it's important to clarify how this differs from Secure Core, which is already a 'multi-hop' connection. Secure Core uses Proton's own tech, end-to-end. This means Proton still knows or has access to both your identity and your activity. My suggestion would mean Proton only knows your identity, but not your activity. Ultimately, my suggestion aims to tackle a different threat from that of Secure Core (which aims to protect against compromised servers).

    Why this matters.

    Proton's trustworthy. At least, I find it to be sufficiently trustworthy for me to use their services. But Proton Mail isn't good because Proton promises not to read your emails (alright, that too), Proton Mail is good because Proton cannot read your emails. This suggestion advocates for a similar approach to Proton VPN (in that it cannot read your activity with this option enabled).

    If you like my suggestion please vote for it, share it on social media, and get more people to vote for it. This is likely the only way it'll receive attention from Proton. Also, feel free to let me know what you think of this suggestion. I'd like to see more thoughts and opinions on this.

12. Ability to re-arrange pinned (favorite) servers

    The list of favorites is static at the moment. It would take great effort to re-arrange the list into the desired order, having to remove items, and add them in a planfull matter.

13. Reuse keys / change peer in WireGuard configuration

    Currently if you generate a configuration through account.protonvpn.com/downloads the private key will only be valid for the server you chose. If you want to change the server, it's not enough to replace its public key and endpoint address for another Proton VPN server, you have to generate a new configuration with a new private key.

    In an ideal world, I could generate a single configuration / private key, and later change out the VPN server endpoint. This would make it a lot less hurdle to switch VPN servers on routers.

14. Allow unauthenticated access to HTTPS Squid proxies from Proton VPN IP ranges

    One important feature other privacy VPNs offer is the ability to use proxies for per-service split-tunneling. For example, when using the Firefox Multi-Account Containers extensions, one can assign different HTTP or SOCKS5 proxies for different containers. This allows users to compartmentalize multiple online identities by assigning a different IP address to them. Some desktop apps also support specifying a proxy.

    Proton has already stated that SOCKS5 won't be supported because it doesn't meet some security requirements. However, Proton already operates HTTPS Squid proxies, because they are used by the Proton VPN browser extension.

    These HTTPS Squid proxies require authentication though, because the Proton VPN browser extension is designed to be usable without the desktop app, and it needs to check whether the user has access to Plus servers. The extension uses a temporary session token for authentication to the Squid proxy, so this can't be replicated manually when setting a Firefox container / desktop application to use a proxy.

    I request that unauthenticated access to the HTTPS Squid proxies without the temporary session tokens should be allowed if the user is already connected to Proton VPN via the desktop app, and thus has already authenticated themselves.

15. Extend LAN network through VPN

    Add a feature that allows a desktop (or a home server) to be used as an endpoint for VPN connection, allowing the user to use the internet like they are in its local network. Useful to connect to LAN devices safely without exposing them to the Web and for limited services like Netflix that blocks users from other places to connect to the same account.

16. Manual Wireguard Peer Configuration

    At the moment, have to use a provided secret key for Wireguard. This poses a security issue if you are wanting to use Proton VPN with an existing Wireguard interface.

    I have some self-hosted apps running on a VPN protected by Wireguard. If I want to be able to connect to ProtonVPN and my self-hosted apps using the same Wireguard interface, I'd need to use a private key generated by Proton to access both on the same interface. This is both a hassle as I'd have to update all my configs for this key, and also a security risk as that key could be used to pose as one of my devices to connect to my self-hosted services.

    If we could instead provide our own public key when configuring our devices, rather than using the provided private key, that would avoid the security issue.

    If we could also customize the peer IP address (though I understand that may be less feasible) that would avoid the issue of having to change all of my configurations.

17. Browser extensions remember recent servers / cities

    It would be nice if the browser extensions remembered a few of your most recently used servers / cities and made those available as buttons that are shown when you click to open the extension. For example, Nord VPN's app has this feature directly below the blue "quick connect" button.

19. Add Profile Selection to Proton iOS Shortcut

    Please update the iOS ‘Connect to VPN’ shortcut to allow users to select a profile to use for the connection. I have listed below 2 use cases which I would like to achieve.

    Example use case 1: when I arrive at work (done through the iOS shortcuts app) I connect to the work profile which uses the stealth protocol.

    Example use case 2: when I arrive at home (also done through the iOS shortcuts app) I connect to the home profile which uses the wire-guard protocol.

20. Game Server Proximity Connection

    This feature could enhance the gaming experience for VPN users. Upon initiating a gaming session, the VPN would identify the location of the game server to which the user is connected. The VPN would then select and connect to its own server that is geographically closest, or lowest ping to the game server. This process ensures optimal latency and performance by minimizing the distance data has to travel between the VPN server and the game server, potentially providing a better gaming experience.

    Functionality:

    1.  Initial Connection: When a user starts a game, the VPN detects the connection to the game server.
    2.  Server Analysis: The VPN identifies the physical location of the game server.
    3.  Optimal Server Selection: The VPN then scans its network to find the server closest to the game server’s location.
    4.  Seamless Re-routing: The VPN automatically switches the user’s connection to this optimally located server.
