Desktop app should show an icon in the toolbar that shows open connection, connecting and disconnected
Right now when reconnecting to the VPN the icon shows a pad lock (green) or a open pad lock (red) when connecting to the VPN.
I would like to see it changed to show icons as:
- Green Locked pad lock (Only once connected and data is passing through)
- Gray Locked pad lock (Connecting to VPN)
- Red Open pad lock (Not connected to VPN)

Each fresh login receives a new IP address. The Windows app requires opening the VPN to view it. I would like to see it in the taskbar app.
In the previous windows version, I could see the IP address without opening the full VPN.
Not so with this latest version. When monitoring security events on websites I need to see what my IP address is to determine if it's my traffic or something else.

Change the Firefox extension icon based on the split tunneling status on the current domain
Currently, when the user has enabled split tunneling in the ProntonVPN extension for Firefox, the extension icon always remains green even on sites where the VPN is disabled. This can be confusing, especially if the user does not remember which sites they are using split tunneling on and which they are not. In my opinion, it would be much clearer if the icon showed a green padlock on sites where the VPN is active, and a red open padlock on sites where split tunneling disables the VPN.
This request applies both to normal split tunneling and to Inverse Split Tunneling…

Inverse Split Tunneling for Firefox extension
Currently, Split Tunneling in the ProtonVPN extension for Firefox allows excluding certain sites from using the VPN. It's ok. However, in certain circumstances, the opposite may be preferable: enabling ProtonVPN only for certain critical sites and leaving all other sites to browse without it.

"Disconnect" Button over hover profile in profile section
In the profile section, when connected to a particular profile, it should show the button of "Disconnect" button when hovering over that same profile again. Right now, it shows the connect button again, even if it is connected to that profile.

Proton VPN Windows client prevents LAN access. Help!
When the Proton VPN Windows client is connected to the VPN, I am unable to access other PCs on the LAN. If PVPN is disconnected, then the PCs are accessible. The setting in the client to allow LAN access is enabled. The PCs on the LAN all have static IP addresses, as do all the networking devices. So, how can LAN resources be made available when PVPN is connected?

The ProtonVPN client works great; I wish I could get PVPN and pfSense working that well.
The PVPN client performance is stellar, but I seek similar performance for whole home protection by setting up PVPN in a pfSense VirtualBox VM on a separate laptop which doesn't do much else. I've used PVPN via that setup for years. Running speed tests on the same machine as where the pfSense/PVPN VM is running, I have found to be disastrous: incredibly low throughput, no matter what PC it's running on.
No VPN: 95Mbps. PVPN client: 85Mbps. PVPN+pfSense: 50Mbps (worst case). Those are download speeds given by OpenSpeedTest run from a different PC on the LAN than where the pfSense…

Replace location switch timers with advertisements
The way that the free version of Proton VPN currently works (on mobile, at least) is that the locations users can switch to are randomised, and there are timers that force you to wait between switches. Not only is this annoying for users, but from a business perspective, it doesn't seem very profitable. I understand that these features are here to encourage people to buy the premium version, but that leaves the people who don't want a subscription not being profitable at all. My proposal is to replace the timers and randomisation with needing to watch an ad to switch…

Physically Located VPN Server on the Philippines
Hello,
Could you please consider adding or switching to a server provider that is physically located in the Philippines?
I’ve noticed that other VPN providers like Mullvad and Windscribe use Zenlayer for their Philippine servers. Perhaps Proton could explore incorporating Zenlayer as well to enhance local connectivity and performance.
Thank you for your consideration.

Split tunneling, select which app connects through which country
It would be great if Proton VPN split tunneling worked so that I can select which app's traffic is routed through whic country. For example, I'd like to select that Youtube goes through Moldova, Firefox through Netherlands, banking app through Germany etc. This could maybe be built into profiles as well so I can quickly set up even different split tunneling scenarios.

Wireguard Configuration Page
On the Wireguard configuration page, instead of limiting server options for users, how about builtding a filter that would allow users to select the country and city/state. This would allow the list to be generated on demand thus allowing users to select the best server for their use case. This should also minimize the over head of providing the full list and also allowing it to filter out servers that are under maintenance. I think this would be huge imprrovment for usability and could improve customer satisfaction.

Proposal for Universal Linux App Distribution via Flatpak or Snap
Proton VPN is currently officially supported on a limited number of distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, and Fedora) through separate
.deband.rpmpackages. This approach requires maintaining distinct packages, which can be an unnecessary burden on your development team, and it leaves out users on a large number of other popular distributions like Arch, OpenSUSE, Solus, and immutable distros like Fedora Silverblue. To address this, we propose adopting a universal Linux application packaging format, specifically Flatpak or Snap, for the official Proton VPN client.
Key Benefits of Adopting Flatpak or Snap:
- Massive Distribution Coverage: A single Flatpak (via Flathub) or Snap…

Netshield improvements on all platforms
Netshield works well for the most part but it does not block as many ad networks as I would have anticipated. Some mobile games still show ads when being played while Netshield is enabled. I understand the usability aspect of things need to work, it would be beneficial to offer different levels of blocking so we could adjust the service to or liking or standards. This could be done by offering different levels like standard, advanced, adult, family or custom block lists that are supported through the app.

Add Profile Selection to Proton iOS Shortcut
Please update the iOS ‘Connect to VPN’ shortcut to allow users to select a profile to use for the connection. I have listed below 2 use cases which I would like to achieve.
Example use case 1: when I arrive at work (done through the iOS shortcuts app) I connect to the work profile which uses the stealth protocol.
Example use case 2: when I arrive at home (also done through the iOS shortcuts app) I connect to the home profile which uses the wire-guard protocol.

Mobile app - Allow "trust wifi network" option
VPN Always on - for this feature, it would be nice to have a "trust wifi network" option. Like Nord VPN, you can trust a certain wifi network so when you connect to that wifi network it disconnects the VPN. When you disconnect from that network it reconnects to the VPN. You can have a list of trusted wifi networks remembered in the app.

Maintain 'Open' or 'Moderate' NAT Type While Port Forwarding for Enhanced Multiplayer Gaming Experience"
Why does enabling port forwarding change the NAT type from "Moderate" to "Strict"? It should either be "Open" or remain "Moderate." This distinction is crucial for many online P2P multiplayer games, such as GTA Online & many more, where a "Strict" NAT type severely hampers multiplayer functionality.
I hope that in the future, Proton VPN can address this issue, allowing users to achieve an "Open" or "Moderate" NAT type while port forwarding is enabled.
I hope this concern is taken seriously. Thank you.
