How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

    It would be great if shared folders for Photos backup could be implemented. My wife and I take heaps of photos with our iPhones and want to sync to a single shared folder.

  3. File REPLACEMENT functionality

    Please add a button that allows us to replace any file with a newer one.

    Current Problem: After we have generated a link for a file, and we want to upload a newer/updated version of that same file, we have to upload a completely new file and generate a new link. This is problematic if we have already shared that link with folks and don't want to send them piles upon piles of new links for the same or updated file.   4. Desktop App with Web View

    The desktop app only shows the content of "My File", I want to see everything as in the web portal, photos, my files, shared etc

  5. Shortkey Ctrl+Alt+D to open a quick search bar on Windows

    The user enters a shortkey like Ctrl+Alt+D to pop up a search bar to find a file.

    The idea is the same as Google Drive's shortkey Ctrl+Alt+G on Windows.

    This is a time saver!

  6. OneNote

    I want to host a OneNote notebook on Proton Drive. And is it possible to set up Proton Drive to act like OneDrive? I want to store all my documents online if possible, and OneDrive is not encrypted.

  7. Do not occupy storage when files are deleted in the Trash.

    Give us an option to auto-delete trash after 30 days, and at the same time, do not occupy storage when we delete files. That is, do not occupy storage when files are in the trash temporarily for 30 days. One drive, Google Drive, and many other cloud storage systems work this way. If you implement this, then Proton Drive will be the best of the best. Please send this feedback to your team and developers.

  8. Option to Auto Update Desktop Client for Windows

    It would be nice if there were an option in the settings to automatically update the Proton Drive client for Windows, so that updates would happen silently and not require me to click a button every time.

  9. Backup / export to external harddrive

    Give us an option to export and backup the entire proton drive (and other proton apps like calendar and mail) to an external hard drive. This both in encrypted and plain format (for hardware encrypted drives f.x.)

    This gives the user more autonomy and saves me doing this all manually. Thanks.

  10. Google Drive API to share docs with a Google Drive Account

    A way to share with people who use Google Drive so they can work on your docs even if they don't use Proton Drive. Shared drives, so they don't need to click on your link everytime to open your docs.

  11. Encrypt desktop application (lock / auto lock)

    Desktop application does not currently have lock ability. There should be a way to lock the drive. We should also have the ability to auto lock after a while.

    I'm using proton family subscription and self hosted next cloud instance.

  13. Connect to third-party clouds to encrypt it end-to-end

    It's a crazy idea but could it work?
    Basically my idea is this: Add in Proton Drive the ability to connect/link your app to other clouds such as Google Drive or OneDrive. (Why?) To view your files from the comfort of the app. AND! Upload files from proton drive to those clouds, and not only that, that Proton Drive encrypts them, so that when you see the data you uploaded from the third party cloud, it's just encrypted gibberish, that way those corporations couldn't scan your data!   14. Choose how many files I want to up-load or download

    I'd like to choose how many files I want to up-load or download.

    For example, if I have 10 files to upload or download, I'd like to up-load one at a time.
    For example, when uploading or downloading videos to or from the cloud.
    I can imagine a queuing system.

  15. Set space release automatically after up loading a file

    It would be interesting to set space release automatically after up loading a file.
    Currently, you have to right-click with the mouse and then click on "free space".
    It would be interesting to be able to set an automatic space release.

  16. Search feature

    It would be smart to have a search or filter feature. This way we could filter in by the year.

    Google drivers features need to be implemented into Proton.

    Just like how you made it for Proton Pass. It would be really helpful if Proton Drive (Windows & Mobile) had the "Force Synchronization" option. Sometimes I am waiting for a bit longer than desired for files to synch between mobile and my computer.

  18. Up- and Downloading Files - Functionalities: Resume Up-/Download, Integration of checksum

    I have already noticed several times that the upload and download was not complete or was cancelled in between. The user is not always sufficiently informed about this situation. The upload and download must therefore be carried out several times and the user is still unsure whether the data is complete.

    The upload and download process should be expanded with a function,
    - that detects cancelled uploads and downloads and resumes them continuously as soon as it is possible again. Currently, the upload or download has to be restarted. The use of Proton Drive is not convenient, especially for Internet…
