Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Introducing Docs in Proton Drive – collaborative document editing that’s actually private: https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive
With Docs you can:
- Write with privacy — Create and edit documents within Proton Drive, knowing your contents are only accessible to you and those you choose to share with.
- Share and invite anyone — Invite other users to view or edit your documents with a single click.
- Collaborate in real-time — Changes are reflected immediately, ensuring every contributor always sees the most up-to-date version.
- View cursors and presence indicators — See who else is viewing or editing the document, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Leave comments and replies — Add comments to share feedback without editing the document. Comments are visible to all collaborators, keeping everyone in the loop.
- Import and export with ease — You can upload .docx documents, edit them, and download in various formats like .docx, .txt, .md, and HTML.

A secure and end-to-end encrypted notes app would be awesome cause there is no such famous app. It can convince even the most pessimistic people to put away paper and pens and get an online notebook

I would love to have a desktop app that would selectively sync files from my PC/Laptop to Proton Drive

I won't buy a subscription without desktop sync.
It was supposedly coming 2 years ago.
That's a not a good sign.

I definitely need more secure spreadsheets than google sheets. the whole set of google docs/sheets would allow me to get off google.

this along with a proton photos equivalent to google photos should be top priority. Two big milestones to achieve.

As an iPad and Windows PC user, I would like to see a full integration of the app with productivity apps (Word, Excel,PDF Expert, etc...) similar to Microsofts' OneDrive. At the moment, with only a browser interface, Proton Drive does not meet my needs.

Well, Linux client is necessary, indeed. But not all users are using GNOME as a desktop environment, although GNOME Online accounts should definitely include Proton accounts. Also KDE has its own Online Accounts inside Control Panel and Proton account support would be good addition also there. Moreover, today KDE is quite resource-efficient. E.g. empty system took ~718 MB of RAM with KDE 5 Plasma desktop with EndeavourOS.

Interested in ProtonDrive for Linux.
If resources were made available, the open-source community may be able to come up with a solution. Many here also mentioned insync collaboration as well. This could be a way to boost both of your customer bases.
Finally, in this guy's opinion, collaboration and integration with GNOME via the GNOME Online Accounts would allow you to easily support and advertise to a Privacy and Security-minded community.
Many potential customers may be self-hosting NextCloud.

A MacOS and Windows desktop client is the main thing blocking me from replacing One Drive with Proton Drive. iOS app is working great 👍

Please Proton, you guys are fighting the good fight but a fella needs to have file manager syncing. As much as I hate to admit it; Microsoft has a VERY good template for how to handle it. That kind of integration with Nautilus and Dolphin would be next level.

Syncing is really really critical. An app would be very helpful but without syncing its just storage and not really useful. As an example i can't actually store my writing on Proton Drive because it has to sync with my writing app. It needs a location and a url doesn't cut it.

At the very least, a way to SFTP files up. Some way to Cloud Sync up is a must-have. Ideally, in a way for something like Synology or TrueNAS cloud sync processes to send files automatically.
