Share upload folder link
Share folders with the option to allow upload of files. This is an essencial feature to allow secure file transfer. Bonus points if notifications for uploaded files are present from day1.
This is especially important for companies, where receiving large files is sometimes troublesome.
Myself and my family currently use a (payed) competitor that provides this feature, and I can assure you I will not be adopting proton drive unless an equivalent feature is available.
PS: All the said.. I'm not sure posting ideas on this platform is of any use, provided proton has not given any feedback to any of the other ideas already posted..
Great news! We have now added the ability to grant others edit access to your folders in Proton Drive. Thank you to everyone for voting and sharing their opinions with us, and we appreciate your patience.

I'm not sure how we missed the boat so badly on this.
We need the ability to UPLOAD ONLY. No viewing. No editing.
The feature as outlined (as I understand it) means anyone with the link can upload AND download what has been uploaded.
So much for uploading "secure documents", since once this link gets out, anyone can see and download anything added to the folder.
I just need one link I can send all my clients for when I so often say "send me that file really quick".
I still can't do that with this feature as implemented.
MEGA does this perfectly.

Exactly. An anonymous uploader should only be able to upload files, not delete nor overwrite nor change them once uploaded. It could be an optional feature, so instead of viewer and editor, you could have the following four roles:
- viewer
- editor
- uploader and viewer (only upload and view but not modify)
- uploader only (this one could only upload, but not even view the contents of the upload folder, and you would have to handle possible conflicts e.g. by appending a date+time if files with the same name were uploaded multiple times.) -

Thank you for letting us know. To clarify; does this mean: others can upload files to a proton folder I own and the others who upload to same folder, cannot view (and are unaware of what else is in the folder) anyone else's files in same folder?

This feature request is specific to giving us the ability to grant upload, and only upload, permissions to users/anonymous users. The current feature allows us to create a public link that allows anyone access to edit folders.
The idea is that we want to let users upload to a folder, but they can't see anything within that folder, or modify its contents.
This feature has not been implemented, so please don't mark this as complete.

Today we have the following:
- Share folders with an existing user (view or edit permissions)
- Share folders with a link (view or edit permissions)I would like to have a Upload only option where I could share a link and have the user or user with the link to upload files only. This could be upload via an API or simply sharing the link with write only permissions.
Use cases:
- Receive documents, logs from clients.
- Upload camera videos from monitoring devices. This potentially extends on the asks of the following requests:

In other words, we need options for:
1) File upload link (no deletion or editing capability - very important)
2) Viewing link (available to anyone who has the viewing link)
3) Admin permissions (upload, move, copy)
3) Full editor/owner permissions (upload, move, download, delete)Thank you!

Very important request, also if you're working with students and need them to send in materials.

I realize we can now share folders that anyone can upload to, but to emphasize what I think folks are trying to say: when a user visits a link we generate the only option they have is to upload a file. The file appears in the folder to us, but they cannot see the contents of the directory. Their only option is to upload. Perhaps this can be an additional permission like Nextcloud house.

This feature is already available, but it still requires improvement, including:
- The ability to change the email address of the URL owner. Considering that the Proton ecosystem is connected with SimpleLogin and many domains use mx.simplelogin, it would be advisable to consider providing an option to change the email address of the URL owner. If this option cannot be provided, it may be better to consider not displaying it at all.
- The addition of a feature that restricts downloading or only allows viewing of documents. This feature would be very beneficial to implement. I am happy to share documents and media files, but I do not want anyone to download them in order to protect copyright.

Max, could you share what you mean? I just checked and didn't see an option to REQUEST files from someone.
The closest thing, and I don't know if this was available before, seems to be creating a folder, sharing it with a link and set anyone who has the link as editor. Then, whoever you send the link to will be able to upload files.

Please add! I would like to move away from dropbox and Google, and having this feature would be very helpful in making that decision.

This is an imperative feature; its absence cripples the user-friendliness of the overall suite of applications.

One of the difficulties of completely stopping the use of Google Drive is that many people you know still use it to share files with you. Since convincing them to switch to Proton is not realistic in all cases, I would like to have the ability to share with people a link where they can upload files to my Proton Drive.
This should, of course, have some limitations so that nobody can just upload massive files or upload so much that it fills up my space.
Such a drop box could also work well as an advertisement for Proton and maybe act as a better way to convince people to switch to Proton services, like Drive.

Allowing a 3rd party to upload files into a folder I share is important; otherwise I need to keep using Dropbox for this only reason.
