Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

That's a critical feature, and the only one I'm really missing to start using Proton as my main cloud drive. The most basic CLI client would be already enough to start with for many Linux users.

Need this desperately to sync docs etc with my Windows and 2 Linux pcs without relying on Google Drive.

I would love love love love having a linux client as it's my main workstation OS and working without it is such a pain syncing documents etc.

I just recently switched to Proton with pretty much everything and as I daily drive Fedora on all me machines I really need the linux sync client for Proton Drive, otherwise I'm unfortunately not able to to use it.
I'm in love with the work Proton is doing for privacy, but I'm also stunned that they don't yet offer a linux client given their goals they set themself.
If not a client done by Proton directly at least bringing the integration for rclone up to speed would be needed.

A proton Drive integration client for use with linux would make me use Proton drive actually for myself instead of occasionally to temporary sharing of files with others.

Linux client please, I use Linux for privacy and would like to have a secure file sync.

Really need a Linux client for Proton Drive. Most Linux users are privacy and security conscious. More so than Mac and Windows users. Please support us!

Yesterday I installed Proton Drive on a windows VM and played with it a bit. I tried to get it to sync a network drive which is the folder on linux that I want to sync with my Proton Drive account. It said it doesn't support syncing network drives. If you won't release a client for linux, can you at least allow drive to sync network folders? Why do you not have a linux client for Proton Drive?

We're now in 2024 and still no Linux client. This is critical to make use of Proton Drive efficiently and automatically.

I use Proton mail, pass and vpn on a daily basis, but for drive I have to use another product. It's just ridiculous!
I hope Proton folks will pay attention to the issue.
Even a well-documented stable API would do the trick. -

Greeting fellow penguins, I see a common sentiment shared here every day which I would summarize as "If you put full Linux support on the roadmap, I'll get a paid account". So I made a suggestion just for that:

I am once again reminding the Proton devs that this is critical. Everything they offer is great, but when there are large feature gaps for Linux users it makes it hard to utilize their services. A Linux client for Proton Drive is specifically something holding many people back from subscribing or making them switch away from Proton. From a business perspective, even a command line interface would be a game-changer.

I have a premium subscription and use it daily. I recently switched to Linux, and not having my Proton Drive synced is a real issue. I am seriously considering canceling my subscription, if I cannot use it on my new system!

Proton products increase my quality of life: Pass, VPN, Mail, Drive. The only thing keeping me from switching from WIndows to Linux is the lack of Drive client. LibreOffice + Drive is a great combo for replacing MS Office/ OneDrive.
EDIT: with a well-functioning Proton Drive client, Proton users in general can be encouraged to migrate to popular Linux distros, away from the the spyware-in-disguise that is Windows 11.

Would love to see this implemented!

The email is great, VPN is awesome, and now a drive for linux would be killer. A universal trio for any OS would make this platform the go to. Plus syncing to and from TrueNAS would be amazing

Linux is the platform of choice for privacy conscious users. Not prioritizing the Linux client is a mistake.

As others had said, this is critical for me. I need an app similar in features to Nextcloud-client for Gnome. Otherwise, I can't commit to a full switch.
