Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

Have Visionary account, this client is critical to have remote backup of my data. Primary as CLI to sync from server and optionally app, however web client works well for client use.

I'd give this 20 votes if I could. I'd buy Proton Unlimited if there were either a Linux client, or some official support for rclone.

I personally use Nextcloud but I'm really considering moving to Proton Drive. As Linux is my only and main system, counting with a native client is critical for me. Also, there is a great part of Linux users that are privacy aware.
As others said, if this is not going to happen, it would be great if you opened some of your APIs so the community can develop a solution.

Adding further weight to the commenter asking for something like rclone if you can't/aren't working on a full client.

This is the only thing that prevents me from switching to Proton Unlimited full time. I simply cannot work without Linux, and it's a shame that Proton Drive doesn't support it whatsoever.

I like to use proton drive as a save storage for all my files. Recently, I moved from windows to Ubuntu, and it was a disappointment that I cannot directly use proton drive anymore.

If a full desktop client isn't in the works, please consider supporting the rclone backend for Proton Drive (https://rclone.org/protondrive/) by providing a published API.

I am a linux only user and I would really love to see either a appimage or flatpak for all of the proton apps; preferably flatpaks.

Flatpak support requested! This is my second year of subscription, and if by the end of it there is no further support for Linux I cannot justify paying for the family plan again.
Went for the family plan because there was mention of the drive coming to Linux in 2024 a few months ago. My kids would absolutely use it if there were a Flatpak I could install on their systems easily.

Would love a proton drive client for linux. appimage or similar would be ideal. Really sux that linux has been left out. Just adding my vote here to help encourage this along. Linux is usually touted as the ideal privacy platform. To not have proton products accessible to linux OS is kind of a shame and very disappointing.

As a long Proton client I really want this feature!
As I heavy Linux user and sort-of-advocate for privacy tools within friends, family and also people I teach: I srsly think that Linux users are more important to the public image of Proton than our bare market share in Desktop users. Convince one Linux user to use your privacy respecting product and win another or two of their friends and family. Because of me the messenger Signal has about 20 or 30 more users of whom two have actually donated money. And I'm sure things go in a similar way with Proton.

Because there is no linux support for drive, im forced to use other cloudstorage options for automatic backup important files.

I'm tired to have all Proton apps, and i must use Mega (drive) for Linux. Please release linux app!!!

A privacy-first service should have support for the most privacy-focused operating system

Electron, Tauri, there are a lot of technologies for that

Would appreciate some official feedback from Proton on this.
Really not cool for us linux users to be completely ignored on the drive app. I'm still using dropbox despite having much more space available with Proton.
As others have said: if you won't support a linux app, at least open up some of the API for us to build our own solution.
Look at the votes here Proton. This matters to us!

I've used the ProtonDrive Client on Windows. It was great. Now that I'm on Linux I'd love to have it here. I use your VPN Client on Linux and it works well. Looking forward to the same experience with a Drive client on Linux. I helped you with ProtonPass Beta would be glad to do the same for a Linux Beta.

I can only agree with below messages. Either provide a beautiful linux app, or CLI app (OSS) or open your API so we can build it ourself. Not having linux client is a blocker.

PLEASE make this happen or open up the API for users to make their own clients. It's a showstopper to going full proton.
