Ability to Create & Edit files within ProtonDrive
It would be really great, if I have the ability to Create & Edit files within Proton Drive space without needing any external tools.
Features similar to Google Drive/One Drive to manage the entire Office suite, Event if the Libre Office could be accessible within Drive, that would be really great!
Or to the least ability to manage below file types,
- Text File (Not just .txt file, But all text viewer supported files like no file type, .md, .csv, .html, .py, .sh, etc.)
- Word File
- Excel/Spreadsheet Files
With this, Data privacy would be by design for files, Not just on storage, But while Creation & Editing as well in a secured space

This would be a great feature! Just basic .txt file creation & editing would be a good start.

Working with OnlyOffice to provide this would be cool

I'm considering using Drive for my team but the lack of this feature is what is currently holding us back.
The ability to edit files and have the changes be visible to other users in real time is very important to us. -

Integrating with CryptPad would be a good option.

not only microsoft formats... open document formats should be prioritised

I'd also absolutely love to see this feature, with no Linux Drive client you're a bit stuck when sharing files currently.
Say I share a shopping list with a family member, they have a link to that file; if I edit that file there's currently no way (that I've found) to edit the document tied to that link without employing another device, which is a bit of a tedious workflow.

100% agree. The only reason I'm still using Google Docs, despite having an 'Unlimited' Proton plan active, is because I need the Docs feature. Even a simple beta feature with the basic text style and page options would be enough to make the jump from Google to Proton.

An integration with Onlyoffice would be awesome. It works quite well online for document, spreasheet and presentation collaborative editing.

In order for Proton services to be useful for me, this ability to create/edit files is very necessary.

I agree. I don't use Proton Drive at all right now because I don't care about syncing files. However, if there was a built-in text editor that would allow me to at least create and edit basic text files it would be very useful. Thanks

I would absolutely love for ProtonDrive to have more features similar to Google Drive. It would be so amazing to have the ability to work on documents live from the drive without having to download them first.

How about CryptDrive? If you could incorporate CryptDrive into ProtonDrive, it would add the ability to create various files (including markdown, text docs, etc), and would go a long way towards replacement google drive.

This is essential. If Skiff can do it, then Proton should be able to. (www.skiff.com - see their Pages app)

A simple Markdown based text editor like the one in Nextcloud would be good enough for me.

I'd be happy with just being able to edit .txt documents.

This would be incredibly hard to develop from scratch (though it would be cool).
LibreOffice integration would be *really* nice. At the very least, prioritized native support for Open Document files would be helpful.
Another option would be integration with CryptPad. As it's federated, I think it would be realistic for Proton to make their own instance of CryptPad with Drive support. IT is already incredibly secure (as far as I am aware), and it supports Rich Text, Spreadsheets, Code/Markdown, Kanban, Slides, Whiteboard and Forms (see https://cryptpad.org/about/, try it at https://cryptpad.fr/ ). I'll probably post my own idea about integration lol
