Manage user rights on shared files or folders
when sharing a folder or a file, it would be great to be able to choose the other users' rights, like:
- View only
- Modification of the file (or add/remove files for a shared folder)
- Resharing

Also, downloading Proton Drive to a Mac is buggy. Can't get it to work so I'll be patient. Love what the Proton team is doing -- keep up the good work!

@Zeenos While I am confident the Proton team is competent and can and will implement this in due time, I think it is a fair bit more complicated than you realize. Look at their article on Proton Drive's encryption model and tell me it ain't complicated lol. I'd rather they take their time to ensure these features are implemented securely rather than rush it and get hacked. Patience... 🙏

Dear Proton-Team,
I have been a paying and happy customer for years, your service is close to perfect and as the others before me wrote this would be a critical feature to get your service to almost perfect for me.
Also it has been years since this feature was started to be requested and it aint that complicated I cant imagine.
Please consider adding this feature. Thank you. -

Proton Team, are you listening and can you give some kind of a response? Someone from last August in the comments section summarized it perfectly well when he said: "Why would you create a cloud drive where users can't upload to shared folders???????" The ability to have a shared drive for team members is a feature that needed to exist from day 1.

Should be mandatory. That would lead me from PCloud or Tresorit to Proton Drive.

Having a shared photo album/folder is one of the main ways I would use protondrive. This would be a huge improvement.

I have not used this feature yet, but I would have taken it for granted that user rights was available.

This is critical to users switching to Proton from Google. I was actually surprised & disappointed to find this feature wasn't available from Proton.

Needs to happen in order to make Proton a viable alternative to privacy leeches like Google etc.

100% this is a must. I just cancelled my family plan because the sharing of folders are not actually within family members and are just guest links. This makes family plans almost completely useless aside from sharing the pass vaults. Not enough features for family plans for $30/mo. Way too expensive without more family specific sharing features. I'll stay on the $2.99/mo until then.

This is a critical must. I was expecting this from the beginning.

Critical, this is the biggest missing feature.

This is extremely important, especially with the family plan. Otherwise we'll need to default to other cloud sharing platforms for this functionality.

This is a critical missing feature of drive. As a Family plan user, not having shared folders between family members makes Drive completely useless.
With Photo backup coming, if I can’t use a shared folder with my spouse, that feature will also be a non-starter for me.

People have been asking for this feature over on the Proton Drive subreddit for over a year.

One-way sharing is ok but what is this, 2002? Folder collaboration with other in-house users is essential to any cloud-based storage system. This is close to being as big as a fumble as Proton Calendar.

I a Visionary subscriber and I want to 100% cut Google out of my workflow and this is paramount that you have the ability to share folders between users. Or at minimum be able to upload to shared folders between users in the same Family. This almost makes me have to use a third party service like Box.

Very important for me. Totally surpised that this is not an option for proton drive yet.. Please implement asap.. otherwise PD is getting useless to me (PRemium User)

I decided to use Proton Drive for file storage for my business. Without allowing other users to edit/create files it's useless for business.
I will have to use another provider until this feature is built.

I'm switching to Proton and bought the Proton Unlimited plan. I've started to move my stuff to Proton Drive and was surprised the capability to share folders with read-only / read-write access was not possible between proton users :( To be honest I though this was possible out of the box (I did not even though it was not there ;) ). So moving 100% to proton is currently not possible for me as I need to rely on another service (DropBox, pCloud, ...) to share my folders for family members and friends. :(
