Sync Photos folder with desktop app
With the Android app we can now backup our photos to the Photos category/folder in Proton Drive and we can view these in the web app.
Please add the option to sync these photos to a computer folder with the
desktop app as well.

What's blocking me from moving from OneDrive to ProtonDrive is the following feature:
- Automatic Camera Sync from mobile into folders.
Right now my photos are automatically uploaded into the Photos section, but it's basically useless for me. I want the "raw" files available, like on OneDrive. I'm using it to back up my photos, now view them in a nice manner. I have the native iOS Photos app for that. Please make the automatically synced photos available in tile file structure.

Syncing photos is important, I want to have my photos stored physically on my desktop computers, so I have backups multiple places

I basically don't use the photos portion of the app because the ability to sync to my local storage doesn't exist. It makes the entire Photos feature of Proton Drive useless at least to me.

I really need this. OneDrive does this and that's great, but I do not trust Microsoft.

This absolutely needs to be a thing, and has been being asked for, for many years now. This needs to happen.... what are you guys doing?

Not having this feature is a massive oversight. The main reason I use any cloud sync service is to easily get photos from my phone to my desktop, laptop and tablets.

I am quite frustrated and feel significantly misled. I established a ProtonMail account and purchased a plan specifically because Google discontinued photo synchronization (a change implemented some time ago). It is disheartening to find that this restrictive policy of blocking access to one's own photographs, initially implemented by Google, has now been adopted by Proton.
This decision lacks logical justification.
If the service is to be as restrictive as Google, I would reconsider returning to Google.
I am not interested in inadequate workarounds; the expected feature should be fully and professionally implemented. -

Did my annual "lets see what's out there to take care of my files and photos". I so want to move to Proton but this one single feature is holding it off. I need my photos as files, not as items to see in the browser.

To be honest I dont understand why there has to be Photos which just does not appear as a folder in Proton Drive? Just like Dropbox has. You dont need a fancy interface to view photos on desktop computer. Only a folder. Please make it happen asap!

Work around: if you have Proton Drive in your phone, you can select the photos in your gallery (fi select all photos of today) and Share them with Proton Drive, choose the right folder, and push Upload

Transitioning from dropbox to sync photo's to my desktop. I miss this option sorely.

Like so many others here before me, this is an essential feature for me to switch to Proton Drive. I'd really like to get away from Microsoft, Google and such, but given that this request has already been there for more than two years, I don't have much hope.

New photos need to be uploaded to a regular Drive folder that can be accessed from the desktop. Having to download all images in /Photos to my PC is a cumbersome extra step.
We need what Dropbox and Sync have done right: all photos are automatically uploaded to the Camera Uploads folder -

This is a massive lack of something that should be 100% simple. Do it now.

Photo backup from mobile uploads images into the "Photos" section, which is visible only in web/mobile.
In the Windows desktop app, these photos are completely inaccessible (not synced, not visible as files, no Photos tab).
This breaks a basic desktop workflow: I need automatically backed-up photos to be accessible locally on Windows without opening a browser.
Either:
- expose the Photos section in the Windows app
- or sync Photos as a regular folder (e.g. "Camera Uploads") in File Explorer.Without this, Proton Drive cannot replace other cloud solutions for desktop-centric workflows.

Proton Photos is dead in the water without this feature.
I would not have transitioned everything to Proton before realizing this. I was so mad at Google for increasing the price of the Workspace service, and at the same time decreasing the storage quota, that I started degoogling everything, including Google Photos. I was willing to give up the convenience and utility of their photo editor as well.
But now that I've discovered that I cannot manage photos from my desktop, I'm feeling a bit silly right now !
Please consider adding this as soon as possible.

I think proton apps should implement iCloud like simplicity and functionality. phone <=> pad <=> desktop, photos files and backups. let's remove iCloud from the equation and offer this service to android windows users too; so they can enjoy this kind of eco system. privacy / integration / simplicity / reliability is the new 'app killer'.
would also be good if the VPN also worked better with local MDNS / bonjour services too
