Proton Docs Rename File With Double Click
Currently to rename a file you have open:
- Click the files name which opens a drop down,
- Select "rename document" option.
- Edit the name
I think double clicking the file name should immediately open this edit section instead.

proton drive seamless sync
Proton Drive's desktop and mobile apps are behind where they should be in 2026. The setup complexity and sync speed would have been acceptable a decade or more ago, but they're now well out of step with what people expect from cloud storage.
The underlying problem is that two different products have been bundled into one: computer file sync and phone photo backup. Neither is done well as a result.
The fix would be per-folder sync configuration. Let me nominate any folder on any device and choose its behaviour: upload only (backup), download only (retrieve), or two way (sync). Photo…

Android/Photos: Store separately separate synced folders. Don't intermix Photos with Screenshots.
I miss folders under Photos section. And it would be fine to make their names match folders I selected for sync on phone.
Otherwise my photos and screenshots are all in single Photos folder. And they are too many to sort them manually between "Albums".

More view options for shared folders with images
I really need more options on how to view images in a shared folder. I work as a real-estate photographer and deliver images through Proton Drive. The brokers are complaining about the lack of preview and I really need a grid-view and carousel or other options for previewing files. I will have to terminate the use of Proton if there is no option very soon!

Standardise file and folder sorting across apps
The Proton Drive web app sorts folders in the left-hand file tree lexicographically but sorts files and folders in the right-hand folder content area numerically. Files and folders in the iOS/iPadOS app are sorted lexicographically.
Let’s assume I have a folder that itself has twenty folders, each named 1 to 20. The web app sorts them as follows in the left-hand folder tree:
1,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,2,20,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
However, the web app sorts them as follows in the right-hand folder content area:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20
This is confusing. The sorting method should be standardised across all areas of all apps. Should that standard be sorting numbers…

"Not in Any Album" Header button
Albums a great but there is no way to see which photos are in an album or not.
Adding a selector in the header to filter and show the just ones not in an album would make it easier to manage organizing them10 votes -

Grid view option for share links
When opening a folder shared via a link, the files are presented in list view. There is no option for grid view. It would be nice to have the option to switch to grid view.
Users with Proton accounts can save the shared folder and view it from the "Shared with me" tab in Proton Drive. There it is possible to choose grid view. Users without Proton accounts do not have this option.

Sheet: Choose encoding when import
We cannot choose file encoding when importing CSV file.
Because of I'm Japanese user, I often use Shift JIS encoding for CSV file.
There are many services that issues CSV as Shift JIS encoding in Japan.

Add a setting to set additional paths for automatic photo backup
Currently, the automatic photo backup feature on Android only looks for photos in the Camera and Screenshots folders. I'd like for there to be a setting to add additional folder paths that will be backed up, so that for example photos in my downloads folder will get backed up.

Better UX for sharing link
I share files or folders with an expiration. It gives me better control, and I won't end up with dozens of shared folders without a clue about their purpose.
I would appreciate the following features:
- expiration date available in the first dialog form, I have to open another dialog now
- ability to preset default expiration date to a certain number of days from today (60 days fits me the best)4 votes -
Add Commenter role to allow commenting without editing
In addition to Editor and Viewer, it would be great to have a Commenter role available at the Doc and folder level, as in Google Drive.
I'd love to allow collaborators to comment on, but not edit, any Proton Doc in a shared folder.

Adding Storage in increments
I am intrigued by the Proton Unlimited plan but am only allowed 500GB of storage. One Drive gives me 1TB with a subscription to Office 365, but allows for the option to purchase additional storage tiers ($9.99/1TB)
iCloud+ is even better with being able to purchase plans in 2TB increments for $9.99/mo and lac out to 12TB
For users of the Unlimited and higher plans, make it easier for users to get more storage in increments if needed.

Show current folder when moving files
When I select the title of my current document > move to folder, a popup showing my drive folder structure appears. I'd like to see the current file path on top of the list.
This is useful because I can't accidentally move to a wrong folder or fail to recognize that the file I'm working on is already in there.

Allow to import photos from a synced folder
The new landed import photos feature in Proton drive only allows importing photos that are not in a synced folder. This doesn't make sense, as photos are stored separately in Proton Drive. Therefore, not allowing the import of such folders makes it impossible to move photos from the Documents Drive folder to the photo section.

Add Japanese language support to the Windows desktop app
The Proton Drive web version supports Japanese, but the Windows desktop app (v3.0.1) has no language setting and stays in English. Unlike the web version, it can't be translated with a browser either.
As a paying subscriber, I'd love a Japanese option in the desktop app. With privacy awareness growing fast in Japan, proper Japanese support would help Proton reach more users here.2 votes -
Include Postal/Zip code as native entry for cards - Improved Autofill
Proton Pass credit card entries should natively support and autofill a postal code/zip code field in the card schema (along with name, card number, expiration date, etc.).
Reason: many sites require a postal code entry to be included along with #, name, code, etc. to help in security/billing verification.
Benefit: more seamless credit card autofill for users without having to enter the postal code manually or hope for a second step identity autofill.

Change Color of General Proton Docs Icon
Change the general Proton Docs icon (“Recents” icon: https://docs.proton.me/u/1/recents) to a lavender-style icon so it is not the same as “Documents” and matches better with the other Proton icons.
