2. Enable automatic resolution adjustment of photos to save space

   The automatic sync of photos from a phone to Proton Drive is very useful. The Drive space fills up fast though because the photos resolution is kept unchanged when backing up a photo to Drive.
   It would be very useful to add a feature (allowing the user to activate or deactivate it) to automatically adjust the resolution of the back-up to save space. In the vast majority of cases, a much lower resolution than the original photo is more than enough, so this would save many users a lot of space.

   Crop Photos.

   Currently, editing a photo on your phone doesn’t update the version saved in Proton Drive. I often need to crop the photos.

5. File tags, tag views, and at-rest encryption

   I'm currently a user of both Proton Drive and Standard Notes (SN). Both products serve different needs, but I can envision a world in which the best aspects of SN are merged into Proton Drive.

   A big weakness of Proton Drive's local file sync functionality comes from the fact that all files must be sync'd and that there is no opportunity to keep them encrypted at-rest. While users can certainly introduce a separate encryption/decryption step to the process of manipulating files, this opens up a window of vulnerability in which any locally running application with shell access can read the file; this is clearly unacceptable for sensitive data.

   Secondly, Proton Drive's reliance on a strict hierarchical file structure fails to leverage its cloud-based architecture to deliver a flexible user experience in which files can be organized and accessed via multiple contexts (i.e. just as you can add the same photo to multiple albums, you should be able to access the same file via different contexts). While users can introduce a separate file tagging step to the process and construct views using links, this is cumbersome, the implementation is platform-specific, and it introduces multiple additional points of failure for the user.

   I propose a multi-stage solution to address these shortcomings (these would be implemented in sequence until we have the final solution):
   1. Introduce the ability to exclude some files from the sync process, keeping them remotely encrypted and only accessible via the web client (this protects sensitive data from being accessible locally by bad actors)
   2. Introduce the ability to define tags, apply those tags to files, and define tag views (logical combinations of tags) that can be sync'd as a virtual view (e.g. "/My 2025 Documents/" is a view that captures the combination of tags "format/document" and "year/2025")
   3. Introduce the ability to specify a secondary encryption key to keep files encrypted at-rest even if they are sync'd; this then leads into...
   4. Introduce a native client that offers both local and remote file browsing, file management, and document editing and also supports tags, tag views, and secondary encryption/decryption for local files (i.e. the singular "Proton Drive" app in which you manage and access all of your files, tags, and views)

   If these features are implemented, they would neatly bridge the gap between Proton Drive and Standard Notes:
   - the low-level sync mechanism would continue to operate as expected
   - files could be part of multiple views / contexts (or not be part of any)
   - security would be maintained at-rest for sensitive data
   - document creation and editing could be managed from a native application that has access to both local and remote files

   I know this proposal encompasses multiple features, but I felt it was important to present them all at once in order to portray a complete and functional end-state.

6. Proton Sheets: Copy group of cells and Paste as picture

   Once I copy a group of cells in Proton Sheets, I would love to paste as a picture in a different application.

7. Option to connect to Nikon Imaging cloud

   I realize this is probably a niche feature, but I would really like Proton Drive to be added to the options in Nikon Imaging Cloud for automatic uploads. At the moment I can choose, adobe lightroom, dropbox, google drive/photos etc.
   It would be really nice to have Proton Drive there!

8. Bookmarks on phones

   Proton should add the ability to bookmark specific folders on Android and iOS devices, similar to the Quick Access feature on Windows. This would allow users to navigate to folders faster and jump between them with ease.

9. Collection of Default Templates for Docs

   A small collection of generic document templates to select from would be very helpful to get started, showcase design/formatting features and different use cases. A good template also helps with user training by providing examples not just of what can be done, but the settings and formatting used to create it.

   The convenience of having some preformatted docs is a huge time saver.

    I suggest a function to migrate from OneNote to Proton Drive. To fully migrate from Microsoft 365 to Proton you need not only a migration tool for Onedrive or Excel/Word but also a facility for easily migration for OneNote

11. Backup Option to Tresorit (and possible to other secure clouds)

    I am using Proton Drive and TresorIt for redundancy. I would love to have way to backup a folder on Proton Drive to TresorIt. Ideally automatically.

12. pure Video Links without Download option

    I'd like to share my videos without making them downloadable. The download button should be optional.

    When the shared link is clicked, the video should start playing directly in full screen.

    Inexperienced users, and especially older users, won't realize they need to tap the (gray) button.

    It should be as simple as possible.

15. Option to Clear Saved Username on Logout for Desktop app

    Could you please add an option in the Proton Drive desktop app to clear the saved username/email on sign-out (for example, a Settings toggle "Clear saved username on logout" or a "Sign out and clear username" action). On shared or public computers the current behaviour of retaining the last-used email can lead to accidental or inappropriate sign-ins; this feature would improve privacy and reduce user confusion by requiring the next user to enter both username and password.

16. Swipe up to see photo details

    When I view a photo inside the Proton Drive gallery, I want to swipe up to see details of the photo (date, camera infos, location) and a map that shows the location of the photo. It could look similar to iCloud.

18. Application folder with an API

    Have something similar to the Apps folder on Onedrive. Where Proton Drive has an API for applications that can automatically sync to. But by only having the applications folder have an API it keeps the rest of the Drive secure.

20. Add EXIF data "CreationDate" if not exists

    Images and videos which do not have a "CreationDate" tag in its EXIF data heavily rely on the "DateLastChanged" tag in order to be sorted correctly. WhatsApp for instance does not ship that CreationDate tag with its media files.
    This leads to the problem that images without this important EXIF data entry cannot be downloaded without the loss of any date information (because all other tags are changed to todays date).

    The idea is to set the "CreationDate" EXIF data if a media file does not have it at download time. It should use the "DateLastChanged" date for that. That way all images do have the right date information for correct sorting.
