iOS: Ability to Return to Previously Viewed Page in PDF Viewer
For example, if I tap on a chapter in the table of contents in a PDF and the view jumps to that chapter, I would like a “back” or “return” button allowing me to easily jump back to the table of contents.
I have a lot of books in PDF form and it would be nice to read those PDFs within the Proton Drive app instead of having to export to another app, like Adobe.

Photos sections improvement in Mobile App
1) Make the Photos section also include all photos that are stored in the user’s other Drive folders, not only those that have been synced from the phone.
2) As it already works on the web version: allow users to upload photos directly from their device into the Photos section and also from the Albums section (currently you can only add to Albums photos that have already been synced).
3) Allow users to manually add a folder path for image files to be synchronized.

Sync existing macOS folders
I miss the option to sync a folder that is not the default Proton Drive location in macOS. I think this is available in the Windows app.
Right now if I want to sync files with Proton Drive I need to copy them to the Proton Drive location in Finder.423 votes -
Proton docs - allow cropping of images within documents
Cropping and control image alignment with text would be extremely useful.

Photos and videos, albums - Slideshow, preloading, without trans effect, direction
With preloading so that the next photo is displayed in full.
Without transition effects, making it easy on the eyes and allowing the photo or video to be seen immediately.
Option to choose the order so that it is not from newest to oldest, but as the photos were taken.
The order could be based on the order of photos in the album, but currently it is not possible to set an order other than newest to oldest in albums, which is usually the opposite of what is desired.7 votes -
Proton Codes
Hi, could you add a separate code section to my files, like Proton Photos? Finding the code I've written in my files is really difficult and time-consuming. To avoid this, I'd like a section that only displays the code, similar to Proton Photos. This would be a good alternative to GitHub or GitLab. I'd love for ProtonDrive to be the world's first cloud storage app to support programming languages. I'd also like for the code to be displayed with a progress bar showing the usage rate for each language, just like GitHub. Trust me, Proton users will love Proton Codes…

PIN/Password (instead of a long password) in Proton Drive Windows apps (like the Proton Pass app)
The PIN feature in the Proton Drive app is great for shared devices or work use, so no one else can access my Proton Drive app.

See album on a timeline
I would like to see album on a timeline. The goal is to watch my event, but only one picture for each. Then I click on it and see the complete album. For exemple, it will help to see everything we did during a year.
I'm looking for a kind of journal view, memory board...9 votes -

Windows App fuctionality
I would like to see on all the functionality you see on the web browser access page into the windows APP. If I install the Windows app, I think is logic to have the rich sharing, moving and other functions right there without the need to open a browser, log in, etc.
I feel without all the functionality, the app defeats the purpose of installing it. Especially if my Proton folder is located into a different drive. For some reason the APP is blocked in local Windows generic folders.2 votes -
worm - Write Once Read Many
I would like to request support for a WORM (Write Once, Read Many) archiving feature with integrated retention expiration management.
📌 Feature Description
The goal is to enable secure data archiving where files are immutable for a specified retention period, after which they become eligible for deletion or further processing.🎯 Key Requirements:
WORM compliance: Data should be written once and remain unmodifiable during the retention period.Configurable retention policy: Ability to define retention duration per object/file at creation time.
Automatic expiration handling:
After the retention period, the system should allow:
Automatic deletion
Manual deletion (if desired)
Archival transition to…

Integrate folder sharing with Proton Contacts on mobile
Current Behavior: When sharing folders or albums in Proton Drive with family members, I must manually type each email address. There's no integration with Proton Contacts, making the sharing process time-consuming and prone to errors.
Would be great to have more seamless integration between Proton Contacts and Proton Drive that would:
- Allow users to select contacts directly from their address book when sharing
- Support autocomplete functionality as users begin typing names
Even more, if Contacts would support contact groups, sharing to family members as a single group.

Allow Proton Drive to use my smartphone's office app
Other drives like Onedrive and Google Drive give the option to use the smartphone's own office apps to open documents, spreadsheets, slides, etc...
I really miss that as I cannot open my sheets, for example, unless I download them. And if I make a change in them, then I have to upload it to the Proton Drive afterwards.
Sorry, but just to be clear. In those other drives like Onedrive, you do not need to download the sheet in other to open it and if you edit the sheet, then Onedrive automatically replace the older version as you save the…5 votes -
File tags, tag views, and at-rest encryption
I'm currently a user of both Proton Drive and Standard Notes (SN). Both products serve different needs, but I can envision a world in which the best aspects of SN are merged into Proton Drive.
A big weakness of Proton Drive's local file sync functionality comes from the fact that all files must be sync'd and that there is no opportunity to keep them encrypted at-rest. While users can certainly introduce a separate encryption/decryption step to the process of manipulating files, this opens up a window of vulnerability in which any locally running application with shell access can read the…

# 0107 User‑friendly onboarding in Topic Maps for non‑technical users
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Add clear onboarding tooltips, short tutorial videos, and example tag sets to help users who are not comfortable with metadata understand and adopt the new Tag/Topic Map functionality.
Why it matters:
- Reduces the learning curve for casual or non‑technical users, encouraging wider adoption.
- Prevents misuse (e.g., overly generic tags) by guiding best practices.
- Aligns with Proton’s mission to make privacy‑first tools accessible to everyone.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- When the Tag button first appears, show a one‑time tooltip explaining “What is a tag?” with a “Got it” dismiss…

# 0106 Bulk‑tagging UI. Bulk‑tagging UI (multi‑select → “Add Tag”) for Proton Drive
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Provide a bulk‑tagging workflow where users can select multiple files/folders, right‑click, and choose “Add Tag” to apply one or more tags to all selected items at once.
Why it matters:
- Saves time for scientists, educators, and any power user who needs to label large asset libraries.
- Encourages consistent tagging because applying a tag to many items becomes frictionless.
- Mirrors bulk‑action patterns already present in other file‑management tools.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Extend the multi‑select toolbar with an “Add Tag” button.
- Open a modal where the user can…

# 0104 Permission inheritance for Topic Map virtual collections
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Make virtual Topic Maps inherit the most restrictive sharing permissions of the items they contain, with an optional override to set separate permissions for the collection itself.
Why it matters:
- Guarantees that a virtual collection never exposes a file to a broader audience than the file’s original sharing settings.
- Allows teams to create a “read‑only” view of a project while keeping the underlying assets private.
- Aligns with Proton’s zero‑knowledge model – permissions are enforced client‑side.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- When a Topic Map is rendered, compute the intersection of…

# 0103 Docs/Sheets creation from a Topic Map
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Enable users to create a new Proton Doc or Sheet from within a Topic Map, automatically inheriting the map’s tag(s) and sharing settings.
Why it matters:
- Project documentation stays logically linked to the same set of assets, reducing the chance of orphaned files.
- Teams can spin up meeting notes, design specs, or spreadsheets that are instantly discoverable via the same tag.
- Keeps the workflow inside Drive, avoiding the need to manually copy‑paste links.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Add a “New Doc from Topic” button in the Topic Map view.
- The…
