  2. Hidden Albums

    At the time of this feature request, albums in Photos are in development and are planned for release soon.

    However, we need to anticipate a very useful feature: "private" or "hidden" albums - the terminology doesn't make much difference.

    This is the ability to select an entire album or select photos and videos and hide them from the home screen, requiring you to go to a "private" location that prompts you for a password (or other method) to access what you've hidden.

  3. Sync files/folders only to Proton, exclude from being synced *to other devices*

    It would be super-helpful to be able to mark files and folders so that they cannot be synced to other devices (and are therefore only present on the source system as well as at Proton).

    This could be useful for sensitive data that exist on the source machine, need to be backed up, but also need to be prevented from inadvertently landing on other (perhaps less trusted) machines.

    Implementation is left open here, but could happen in various interesting ways. The most “natural” way I’d see is to navigate to Proton Drive, select a file or folder, then mark it…

  5. Print document without link in footer and "Proton Docs Editor" in header of every page

    Right now if you print or download as PDF (which simply uses the same print dialog) the header of each page gets stamped with the date and time and "Proton Docs Editor" and the footer gets stamped with a URL to your document.

    Really disruptive to the experience and makes Proton Docs professionally unusable for printing or sharing PDF documents which is a big deal. I have to export as a Word document and open elsewhere if I want to print and then I might as well just use Word at that point.

    EDITED: Sorry, this may be misplaced, but here goes: I cannot get Proton Drive to install on my HP ENVY x2 - 12-e011nr laptop. It's an ARM 64 bit laptop (running Windows 10 for ARM), but when I try to run the official installer for ARM (1.10.1), Windows says "This app can't run on your PC"

    I've tried to run it as a local user, and an administrator, and I also ran the compatibility troubleshooter. No-go. Really disappointed with this

  7. Need more granular versioning options

    Currently, the Version History setting is global and applies to all files and folders equally. Instead, it would be helpful to be able to configure versioning at the folder or file level.

    For example, I could have a large file (e.g. a video) that I'm actively working on and revising. I don't want previous versions hanging around for months or years as they are just taking up space.

    On the other hand, I may have smaller, important documents whose revisions I want to keep for years.

    With the current system, I would need to set the global option to 10…

  8. Require 2FA and password before accessing Proton Drive in Windows Explorer

    I would like the addition of an option in the Settings menu.

    If this option is checked, data 'at rest' in the Proton Drive is encrypted and unusable in a Windows computer by default, on each startup. Only after entering the Proton password and 2FA does the Proton app unlock, decrypt all files and make read/write possible.

    To clarify, it could still sync files while in 'encrypted' mode from the cloud to on-premise, but always encrypted first. And usable upon unlock.

    Then when the user actually wants to do something, they can enter credentials and decrypt their Proton Drive. Kind…

  10. Subscription Tracker (can also just be an add-on to Calendar?)

    An add-on to calendar, or a standalone financial planner

    Specifically to target and tally income and monthly payments.

    I believe that with the security of proton, this can be done quite well

  11. Photo/Video compression

    What I like the most about Google Photos is the photo/video compression. I save locally the compressed photo/video and delete the original, to save storage space, because I think the compressed version is good enough for personal use (it's not even perceptible unless you zoom in greatly).

  12. app-specific passwords

    I would love to use RoundSync on Android or rclone on Linux to synchronize some of my files, but I hate the idea that those apps would then, theoretically, have access to all my passwords, mails, calender entries, ...

    It would be great to be able to generate an app-specific password for this use-case, where I can specify which services the app can access (it would be only "drive" for me).

  13. Select folders not to Sync to machine

    I use Proton Drive to store my files and there are some folders that I don't want to download to my machine. Would it be nice to have settings in the sync app to choose folders not to download.

  14. Provide option to skip the Recycle Bin (Trash) when deleting files

    Currently, when files/sub-directories are removed, they are moved to the Recycle Bin (or Trash). While this feature is useful for recovery, there are scenarios where users may want to delete files permanently without the intermediate step of moving them to the Recycle Bin.

    Adding an option in the file deletion dialog (unchecked by default) that allows users to choose whether to skip the Recycle Bin and permanently delete the selected files should be sufficient.

  17. Option to turn on compression on photo/videofiles

    I just started to use proton drive and uploaded 50 foto's and 8 relative short video's but already 800MB was used of the free 2GB i received. One videofile was 260mb while in Google Photos this same video, compressed ofcourse, was only 14mb.

    I would like to see an option to compress video and maybe even photos by default for uploading.

    HTML files saved on drive, currently open in raw code view, which is very unhelpful. HTML documents by default universally open in a browser window. I request support to view HTML documents in a browser window be added to proton Drive features

  19. Back up photos from external drives

    I want to backup multiple external hard-drives that have photos from a range of old phones. I can't do this on the desktop app, it looks like https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/49195883-photo-desktop would need to be done first.
    Looking at the web UI, I can't select a folder. I would need to select all the files, which adds friction when I have multiple drives to back up.

    Here's some extra requirements in an approximate BDD format.

  20. Enable Auto Sync on MacOS

    The instructions (with link below) are clear. There is no misunderstanding. However, I want a feature that turns on auto-sync so that I do not have to manually "Download now". I actually want this on ALL platforms (to be able to select what is always synchronized and what is not). I can do this on my own Nextcloud implementation. It should be standard for Proton Drive.
