Per-folder storage quota for shared folders
Problem statement: When I share a folder with Editor permissions, all files uploaded by collaborators count toward the owner's account-level storage quota. There is currently no way to limit how much storage a single shared folder can consume. This creates two problems:
Unbounded risk – Collaborators (or with the upcoming public-upload folders, even anonymous link holders) can exhaust the owner's entire Drive quota, potentially blocking uploads, photo backups, or even unrelated workflows.
No project isolation. For professional use (e.g., project-based collaboration with external parties), there is no way to ring-fence storage per project without violating the Terms of Service by…1 vote -
"Open with..." option in Proton Drive
I store various pdf in Proton Drive and Google Drive. I also have my own pdf viewer that I like to use to open pdf files. Please provide a feature that allows us to open files stored in Proton Drive with our own applications. Let me bring my own pdf viewer to the table like Google Drive does.
edit: Although, it seems Google's feature of this is really just a one click shortcut to download the file to the device and open it from there. But it all happens in one click.

Proton drive playback
We can't play videos in proton drive for files as small as even 800mb without downloading it. Get rid of this stupid ****. We should be allowed to stream in the app itself even if the files is 100 gb.

Add on-device OCR to Proton Drive document scanning for searchable PDFs
Proton Drive offers document scanning, but the resulting PDFs are image-only without embedded text. This makes scanned documents (leases, medical records, IDs, receipts) unsearchable and inaccessible via text selection or Proton Drive's search functionality.
Why This Matters
Users need to find specific content across their document archive without manual review of each file. Without OCR, workflows like locating a lease clause, extracting an address from an ID, or finding a prescription date require opening and reading each scanned document individually.

Change the folder icon when adding the folder in 'My computer'.
Changing the icon will make it immediately obvious that the folder is handled by Proton Drive, when looking at folders in Windows Explorer.

Add the ability to select multiple files of different types to perform actions on (IOS app)
When I want to move/export multiple files or even folders to other apps (for example to unpack some zip/rar/7z/etc. files) I would have to do this for each individual file separately. With something like 10 files or a folder containing that amount of files, it is practically guaranteed that one or more files get missed. The currently available actions (deleting selected files, moving them within Proton Drive and making them available offline) are very limiting.

Eliminate the main PC interface. Use the website interface as the standard.
When you log in to the PC version of Drive, the PC interface is lacking and hard to use. Please make the PC interface just like the website interface. It's annoying that I have to right-click the icon and log in again to the website interface. When you start the PC version, it should go straight into the website or cloud version. Simplify the interface, too.

(Sheets) Organize Sheet Tabs
Right now sheet tabs are organized by chronological order, when I manually reorganize them, that order does not save and goes back to chronological. Would nice a nice feature to organize manually.

Add "copy link" feature to any file or folder without forcing the owner to share with others or set additional password
One great feature of Google Drive is the ability of copy a link to a file or folder, even if the owner doesnt share it to anyone.
This is particularly helpful when the owner needs to reference a specific file/folder in a (for instance) trello card, or documentation for his own use.
Force the user to add an additional password or, worse, share with others so it can get a link adds unnecessary complexity and security risks, in this use case.2 votes -
Proton Sheets MCP / API
I’d love MCP/API access for Proton Sheets so ChatGPT, Claude, and eventually Lumo can make direct, fast changes to spreadsheets.
I’m increasingly moving back to Excel simply because AI tools can work with it much more effectively. Computer use in Proton Sheets is significantly slower and becomes impractical for larger transformations compared with simply uploading an Excel file to ChatGPT, Claude, or Lumo.
Direct MCP/API access would make Proton Sheets much more competitive for AI-assisted workflows.

Mirroring the File structure on two different PCs
Provide a mirroring function which produces two identical file structures on two pcs. This way all references between different files in the structure are valid on both pc s.

Mass copy and paste in proton sheets
It would be extremely useful to be able to copy large multiple of cells and paste them where ever you need eg. copying cells a1 to a8 and pasting the data in cells b10 to b18 or copying cells a1 to d5 and pasting them on another sheet.

Granular Document Editing with Read-Only Sections, Form Fields, and Signature Lock
Adding granular permission controls to Proton Docs that would allow document creators to mix locked (read-only) content with editable form fields within the same document.
Core functionality:
- Read-only sections: Parts of the document that cannot be altered by recipients (e.g., terms, conditions, legal text, contract clauses).
- Editable form fields: Designated areas where recipients can fill in their information (names, dates, IDs, checkboxes, etc.).
- Signature field: An electronic signature option—or even a simple "click to accept" checkbox—that automatically locks the entire document once signed.

Restricted permissions for PATs
With the Drive SDK currently under development, now is the perfect time to integrate a key feature regarding Drive Personal Access Tokens (PATs). It is essential that PATs can be granted individual read and/or write permissions and, furthermore, be restricted to specific directories.
For example, I might want to create a PAT that allows read and write access only within the "videos/" directory (and, naturally, any of its subdirectories), while having read access to other directories completely blocked.
This granular control will address most of the potential security issues that could arise from the gradual opening up of the system…

more editing options for proton docs.
The proton docs is pretty okay in my opinion, But there should be more options such as any size you want instead of fixed ones and more colors for highlighting and typing in and like being able to put images anywhere instead of a fixed area. If proton can do this i would be more than happy to further explain my idea in more depth and detail and scketh. Thank you to the privacy proton community and proton company for having this special place
