  1. Show larger part of filenames in Proton Drive iPhone app

    As an iOS Proton Drive user, I want to see a longer part of the folder names and file names in my Proton Drive, so I can distinquish files and find what I need more quickly.

    The current version of the Drive app only shows around 26 characters of the folder and file names, replacing all other characters with ...

    I often use long folder names and file names for multiple reasons, including:
    - Their descriptive function
    - It allows the search function to better find what I need
    - I porefix all photo's and documents with "YYYY-MM-DD - "…

  2. Put datetimestamps in photo's downloaded from Proton Drive

    Currently, all photo's that are uploaded to Proton Drive on iOS and are downloaded from Proton Drive (cloud) have filenames like IMG_1234.heic. This becomes messy, especially when managing photo's from multiple devices.

    I'd love to see the option to add datetimestamps to these photo's names, eg. 20250205131755123.heic (yyyymmddhhmmss....heic (... = milliseconds). This makes it way easier and faster to see when a photo was taken.

  3. File Request

    In my business I often need to request files larger than can be sent through email, and my clients do not necessarily use programs like google drive, dropbox, etc, so it can add some friction to receiving files.

    I would like for Proton Drive to have a File Request feature similar to the one that Dropbox has.

    In PDF Preview inside Proton Drive it is possible to add Markup to the PDF. But saving those changes works only by downloading and re-uploading.

    It should be possible to save changes directly to Proton Drive.

  6. Phone Photo Sync

    Similar to the new ProtonDrive backup feature, a sync option would be nice so we don’t need to delete photos from multiple locations.

    You could have a hybrid solution as well.
    Daily sync with monthly full backup for example

  9. Sync to external ssd on Mac

    Proton uses Apple API which does not support syncing external SSD on Mac OS. This makes it basically useless for all of those with collections of flies on external drives.

  12. Automated backup

    More advanced options for proper automated file backup (one-way sync). Possibly with scheduling options (one-time, daily, weekly...etc).
    Manual backup (dragging and dropping files or folders) is painfully slow and counterproductive. I think most of us would appreciate this addition.

  13. Support for more file formats in Proton Docs

    It would be great to see Docs support more file formats for import/export and editing. As a Mac user, I would like to see .pages but I’m sure others have file formats they could add to the list. Open docs, Libre docs etc…

  14. Proton Docs backup or export

    Currently, there appears to be no way to backup or export a Proton Doc.

    With normal files, as long as you are syncing to a desktop, one can easily use whatever means to create independent backups of content (e.g. off site, on USB sticks, ...).

    For a comparison, see StandadNotes which has an awesome backup flow (especially relevant given that Proton recently acquired StandardNotes).

    EDIT:

    To clarify. I realize that I can download a copy of one individual document by using the menu. Two aspects of a proper backup that are missing:

  15. Make Proton Drive photos available in windows explorer.

    Make photos available in windows explorer so you can drag and drop photos to Etsy or Ebay. Instead of downloading them. Also the lag between taking pictures and them uploading some times is quick while other times it can take a while. Would like a option in the phone app (Android) to upload specific pictures so you can use them right away. Would love to give up Dropbox but can't until this is implemented.

  17. Share-Icons that show password protection and expiry date

    Currently, an icon only lets the user know if a file or directory is currently being shared.

    It would be awesome to enhance the icon a bit (e.g. with a little clock in the corner of the icon) if the user set an expiry date for the folder. This way I do not have to click on the icon and then on the settings icon in the dialogue to check if it is set.

    The same can be done for password protection: Adding a little padlock quickly lets the user know that a password has been set for the shared…

  18. Show backup status in Proton Drive App

    In the "My Computer" tab of proton drive, I'd like to be able to see the progress of each folder's sync. It could be a percentage or a fraction view, showing the number of gb transferred vs gb left.

    Also, having more options for syncing would be preferred as well such as the ability to pause computer sync to allow items in the sync folder to sync ("My Files") or being able to set the batch size from 4 to something larger (for example when transferring many small files)

  19. Support More Video File Formats in Proton Drive

    Currently, Proton Drive has limited support for video file playback, requiring users to download external players like VLC to view certain formats such as .MOD files. Expanding Proton Drive’s built-in video player to support a wider range of formats would improve usability and convenience, reducing the need for third-party software.
