Proton Drive in-app Editor & Viewer
Hey everyone,
I've just have an idea for the entire Proton Drive application for (at least) Windows. If you added a folder or Files, you might be already known, that you can't edit or view the staff inside the Drive App.
So, for example; you've just added or created a .txt or somethings, you have to press on the "folder name" e.g. "My Files", and then it open the File explorer of Windows, probably as well on Linux and Mac but i don't know. So, it would be great to view some files like .txt or some other staffs like Pictures or else.
Also to edit and and a better organization, to add and Delete stuff inside the app itself. At the moment (or i am just blind) can't add/Edit and really delete stuff (Moving to trash).
Maybe, add a button for a "Create..." which give you the opportunity to create a .(proton)docs and maybe some more.
Inside of the "Activity" tab, it should also show the user which files are deleted, or it should be deleted after deletion of inside of the cloud. Like with a symbol of a "X" or "trash can".
Thank you for the Programs!

Docs page color
I know similar things have been suggested before, but if a dark mode is ever added I'd much rather it affect the UI and not the page itself; I'd like to be able to choose the page color and font color myself.
This is, assuming of course, a non-pageless format is added.

Need the ability to add comments to photos in shared albums
I am using Google Photos to share family albums and I am trying to determine if I can replace Google Photos with Proton Drive (I am a Proton Duo user). One very useful feature for the users I am sharing the albums with is the ability to add comments. In fact, this would be a show-stopper if it is not possible. The reason is that some of the photos are pretty old (scans of standard prints) and lack details. Being able to add comments is a great and simple way of sharing and improving the information we have about some of these photos.

Upload selection of photos to Drive Photos (iOS)
In the Drive iOS app, I can only sync my entire photos library with Proton Drive Photos. I would like to be able to upload selected photos instead.
In the upper right corner of the web app, there’s the ”+ upload photos” link. But this is not there in the iOS app. The workaround for now is to exit the iOS app and upload photos via web.

sheets
Allowing editors to lock the sheet (template) so that when shared with collaborators, they cannot change the template but can only make a copy of it for their needs. This is a feature already included with Google sheets (which I want to stop using altogether!).

Ebook reader
Add an eBook Reader to proton drive so I can read my ePub directly from proton.
Currently I need to download them from proton and then open it to be able to read them on mobile.

"recent" files in Drive so I can access files faster than clicking through my library to get to each individual file
In the subject above--this might be able to be an option in that dropdown menu on the left side of the screen that currently just mirrors file paths.

Proton Docs: Different Bullet Points for Different Levels of Indentation
For example, the default bullet is the filled-in circle (●), and if I press "tab" to indent, the bullet becomes the outline-only circle (○), and if I press "tab" again, the bullet becomes a square (■), etc. Currently, we only have 2 different types of bullets.

Add Spreadsheet‑Style Font Options to the Text Document Editor
Proposal:
When creating or editing a text document in Proton Drive, users currently have a limited set of typefaces compared with the richer font selection available in the new spreadsheet editor. To provide a more consistent and flexible writing experience across the suite, we propose extending the text‑document editor to include all the fonts that are now supported in the spreadsheet module (e.g., Calibri, Cambria, Arial Unicode, etc.).Benefits:
Unified Design Language – Users can maintain visual consistency when embedding tables, charts, or excerpts copied from spreadsheets into documents. Improved Productivity – Reduces the need to switch between applications or manually adjust formatting after pasting spreadsheet content. Enhanced Creativity – Offers a broader typographic palette for reports, proposals, and other professional documents, aligning the text editor with the modern look of the spreadsheet tool.Implementation Considerations:
Sync the font library between the two editors, ensuring any future font additions appear automatically in both places. Preserve existing document compatibility; default to the current font set if a newly added font isn’t supported on older clients. Update the UI to display the expanded font dropdown without clutter, perhaps grouping “Spreadsheet Fonts” under a dedicated sub‑section. Conclusion:
Integrating the spreadsheet font collection into the text document editor will streamline workflows, enhance aesthetic control, and reinforce Proton Drive’s reputation as a cohesive, privacy‑focused productivity platform.Proposal:

Analyze / Sort Files by Size in Proton Drive
Dear Proton Team,
I would like to request a feature that allows users to sort and filter files by size across the entire Proton Drive, not just within individual folders. Currently, it is not possible to view the size of folders or to search for large files efficiently across all folders. This feature would greatly improve the user experience by making it easier to manage storage and identify large files quickly.
Thank you for considering this request.
Best regards, Sebastian

Proton "Drop" To Accept Secure Files Without Relying on Sender Email
Would love for a feature to reserve an area in the Drive for a person with a link, auto-expiration, and password to "drop" files to an upper size limit in.
I don't like how people with email services outside of Proton or likewise send me things using their email without password protection or expiration.
There is no way to enforce that the file be deleted from their email. They might just plain forget or not know how to do it fully.
Sending them a link to DROP a file into my Drive will let them upload directly to a secured environment which I can then destroy the link to after the file is received.
Many people are adverse to creating a Proton account for this file submission if they are a business and need the domain, etc.

Delete original backup if organized into an album
I'm wondering if it would be feasible to add a feature into proton drive, where the original videos and photos get backed up if its possible to delete it after that same photo or video gets moved into an album as I imagine for most people it would be easier to search through named albums vs a random collection of pics and videos put together.
TL;DR - Photo/video gets backed up>Move photo/video to album>Delete original photo/video (without deleting the one in the album). Saves space and keeps things clean and organized

Hiding photo albums
Allow for photo albums to be hidden, sorted, and their contents also hidden. I've got a lot of work photos in my proton drive, but I don't care browsing past all of them when I'm looking for pictures of my actual life. If I could hide them in albums, but still on hand, that would be great.

Choose what computer backup to show in Proton Drive folder
Would be nice to have an option to exclude backups from showing in the Proton Drive folder on other PCs. Currently I have a couple of backed up folders that goes through a lot of constant changes which makes Proton Drive on other computers take forever to mirror these changes even if it's not technically downloading anything.

File management paradigm change?
As a curious, sometimes geek with nerd outbursts, user exploring and using newest techologies since 40 years
I'd like ProtonDrive to consider:
- merging all types of documents (office, audio, video, etc) into a single environment (as opposed to the Documents/Photos distiction)
- allow the user to chose to expose these documents to the OS
- providing labels/tags/keywords management (add, remove, batch rename)
- integrate these labels/tags/keywords within the files metadata without changing their modification date (as opposed to libraries systems strongly linked to products and service providers)
- providing views management (add, remove, rename) based on the aforementioned labels/tags/keywords
- providing a funtionality to generate a folder structure based on viewsSo that:
- Merging: one environment simplifies and generalizes the file management development and usage
- Labels, views: it doesn't matter anymore where I store files, but how I can find them easliy (consistent with ProtonMail's labels/views philosophy)
- Optionally expose files: for instance I can listen to music with my favorite 3rd party application instead of putting lots of effort for additional ProtonXXX apps
- Integrate labels, generate folder structure: portability is ensured for the day I decide to move my files to another platform (export folder structure with my personal categorization system without risk of loosing years of organization)
- Modification date: obviously the file management should't tamper with the effective file content change dateThank you for considering shaping a futuristic UX with an open and portable file system management post-GAFAM and service provider independent! 😍

Proton Codes
Hi, could you add a separate code section to my files, like Proton Photos? Finding the code I've written in my files is really difficult and time-consuming. To avoid this, I'd like a section that only displays the code, similar to Proton Photos. This would be a good alternative to GitHub or GitLab. I'd love for ProtonDrive to be the world's first cloud storage app to support programming languages. I'd also like for the code to be displayed with a progress bar showing the usage rate for each language, just like GitHub. Trust me, Proton users will love Proton Codes for its updates. :)
