2. Allow rename of file when saving on Android app

   When saving a file on Android by "sharing" from another app, you can choose the destination folder but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the name of the file before you upload it.

   Suggested feature: by tapping on the current name of the file, you can change the name before tapping upload.

4. Thumbnail support for modern formats, like WebP, HEIF and HEVC

   Newer smartphones make use of modern formats for storage of photos and videos. These formats include WebP and HEIF for photos and HEVC and WebM for video. Adding thumbnail and metadata support for these formats allows us to make better use of the albums feature, without having to convert these files before storage.

5. Make Proton Drive folder a 'proper' folder on Mac

   I was trying to work out whether the files in my Proton Drive folder were being backed up to my cloud-based Backblaze backup. Trying to find out where Proton Drive files are actually stored on Mac was a bit of a nightmare. I was unable to clearly see whether these files were included in my backup because they're effectively hidden deep within the user Library. This obfuscation means that I don't trust Proton Drive to hold my files because I can't easily locate and access them, which can be a critical task when setting up things like a cloud backup service.

   I think Proton Drive should operate more like Dropbox / Google Drive, both of which make it far simpler to access the actual files, which fosters trust and peace of mind.

6. Proton Doc links should continue to work, even when moved out of Proton Drive's folder

   I moved a Proton Doc 'file' (link) out of the Proton Drive folder on my Mac, which seems to have the same effect as deleting the document.

   Trying to open the link from outside the Proton Drive folder gives an error: "This file type can only be opened from within Proton Drive." The link still won't work even if I put it back inside the Proton Drive folder. After doing this, trying to open the file throws up the same error but also creates a "Revision is currently not enabled" sync error in the menu bar icon.

   This is jarring behaviour that breaks a long-established mental model about how files and folders on a desktop OS should work. It means that I have no trust in Proton Docs as a place to store any document.

8. Need the ability to add comments to photos in shared albums

   I am using Google Photos to share family albums and I am trying to determine if I can replace Google Photos with Proton Drive (I am a Proton Duo user). One very useful feature for the users I am sharing the albums with is the ability to add comments. In fact, this would be a show-stopper if it is not possible. The reason is that some of the photos are pretty old (scans of standard prints) and lack details. Being able to add comments is a great and simple way of sharing and improving the information we have about some of these photos.

9. Add Password when exporting a ProtonSheet into xlsx

   ProtonSheet is crypted, that's great. but what happens when we export the sheet?

11. Add more right-click (context menu) functionality please!

    Dropbox has a robust Right-click feature set in Windows Explorer. Proton needs the following:

    • Purple P icon in every context-menu item (for quickly finding the set of commands)
    • Copy Proton Drive link
    • Sharing options of different sorts
    • View on Proton Drive Website
    • Make online-only
    • Make available offline

    Among others!

12. Multi-Select for make available offline

    Currently the option to set photos available offline can only be done one at a time. Please make it so that you can multi-select or select all photos and make them available offline all at once.

13. Quick navigation to main page on mobile app

    If you are inside a directory and click on “Files” in the navigation bar on the left bottom corner, it should take you back to the main Files page. Currently, nothing happens when you tap on it.

14. Backup

    I just think, today we have more devices, mobile, tables, computer, notebook. And when enabled backup options on all of this devices all connected has been storage inside one Photos. When you won’t to check, or review you need long time. My suggestion is to have option to credited folder like Mobile inside Files, and inside application settings to have options to set directories where to storage files for that device.

15. Make cloud archiving optional

    I have files that I rarely access but are critical when I do access them (e.g. manuals) and the times I need to access them are likely to coincide with my having no internet access as I sail. It would therefore be great to be able to flag folders so that a local copy is maintained even when the contents have not been accessed for a while.

16. Allow adding photos from Proton Drive to Albums in the web interface

    Currently, there's no way to add photos that are already stored in Proton Drive to Photos when using the web interface. The only options are:

    • Use the iOS or Android app
    • Upload directly from your computer to Photos

    Requested feature: Add the ability to browse Proton Drive and select existing photos/videos to add to an album, directly from the web interface.

    Bonus: Ideally, this should work by reference rather than creating a duplicate. Adding a photo from Drive to an album shouldn't consume twice the storage quota.

    Use case:Users who have already uploaded and organized photos in Proton Drive shouldn't need to switch to a mobile device or re-upload files just to add them to an album. This is especially relevant for users who primarily use the web interface or are working with large batches of photos already in Drive.

17. Auto‑create albums in Proton Drive Android backup

    When the Android Gallery backs up photos to Proton Drive, the app currently uploads all images into a flat folder structure. It would be very helpful to have an option that automatically creates albums in Proton Drive that mirror the albums (folders) already defined in the device’s Gallery.

    • Detect each existing Gallery album at backup time.
    • Create a matching album (folder) in Proton Drive.
    • Place the corresponding photos inside that album, preserving the original organization.

    This would make it easier for users to locate and share grouped photos without having to manually recreate the album hierarchy after the backup.

20. Shared drives

    I find Shared Drives in Google Workspace very useful. It's very easy to navigate, search and find information within the organisation for every team member (not only for the admin or user who created the file or folder). It would be nice to have a feature in Proton Business
