Ability to Specify Margins in Docs
An option to set margins is very important when you have specific formatting requirements to meet for school assignments and publishing or contest submissions.

Add light theme for Proton Drive desktop app
The Proton Drive desktop app currently only supports a dark theme. Other Proton apps (Mail, Calendar, Drive web) already allow theme selection, so it would be great to have the same here.
I realize dark themes are more trendy, but for me they have a negative effect - I feel more tired and even sleepy when using them. In bright rooms the reflections also make it harder on the eyes. A light theme helps me stay more productive and matches the rest of my system.

Activities should never clear and be openable
In the Proton Drive app, the activity section only shows files that were just uploaded and will then clear the history. You also can't click the files to quick open them up. I think Activity should be more like a "recents" tab that shows most recent edited files for quick access where you can just click to open them.

Native DLP Capabilities for Business/Visionary Plans
As an Information Security Consultant currently advising small and mid-sized organizations on migrating from legacy suites (specifically Microsoft 365 E3/E5) to privacy-first, sovereign European alternatives. While Proton’s zero-knowledge architecture is the gold standard for data confidentiality, my risk assessments consistently identify a significant gap in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities for Business and Visionary tiers.
Current compliance frameworks (GDPR Article 32, ISO 27001, SOC 2) require not just encryption at rest/in transit, but active controls against accidental or malicious exfiltration of sensitive data (PII, PHI, PCI-DSS).
Proton excels at preventing external interception. However, it lacks the ability to inspect outbound…

Normalize file names to NFC Unicode on sync to fix macOS–Windows compatibility with Korean characters
[Problem]
macOS stores Korean characters using NFD (Canonical Decomposition), while Windows and Linux use NFC (Canonical Composition). When files with Korean names are synced between platforms, the differing Unicode normalization forms cause file name conflicts, duplication, or sync errors.[Root cause]
macOS HFS+/APFS decomposes characters into constituent jamo (NFD). The same Korean string has a different byte sequence on macOS vs Windows/Linux, even though it looks identical to users. This is a known OS-level behavior, not a user error.[Requested fix]
Normalize all file and folder names to NFC before syncing, regardless of the originating OS. This is the approach…2 votes -
Adding Storage in increments
I am intrigued by the Proton Unlimited plan but am only allowed 500GB of storage. One Drive gives me 1TB with a subscription to Office 365, but allows for the option to purchase additional storage tiers ($9.99/1TB)
iCloud+ is even better with being able to purchase plans in 2TB increments for $9.99/mo and lac out to 12TB
For users of the Unlimited and higher plans, make it easier for users to get more storage in increments if needed.

Voice memo app
A simple voice memo app like the ones built into phones. Sync with Proton Drive. Could be integrated into a notes app like Standard Notes.

Proton Drive's Sync Is Not Consistent Or Effective
I so want to use Proton Drive exclusively, but it simply is unreliable. With OneDrive and Google Drive, I can add a file to my local machine and then access it on the web within minutes. With Proton Drive, I can add a file to a folder (that is set up for sync) and have it not sync for months...sometimes never. If I want to really sync, I have to manual go through each of my folders and do an overwrite of what's there by initiating the sync.

data validation list for spreadsheets
A data validation LIST option would be welcomed for spreadsheets. Each cell in the column would have a drop down menu with the available options of the predefined list.

Bug - Date Selection in Proton Sheets via Calendar Selection broken
There is a Bug with Proton Sheets (Non-US based location) where when you double-click a date cell and attempt to change it via the drop down calendar selection box, it will mix up the day and month selection and give you the wrong date (I imagine it is mixing up day/month in the order due to a mixup between US and European date formats, juggling mm/dd/yyyy vs dd/mm/yyyy respectively).
Example:
I begin with a "Long Date" date format in my cell and have:
Thursday, January 1 2026
I then double click to bring up the calendar drop down and select…

# 0105 Search & filter integration + “Topics” sidebar
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Extend the existing search bar to filter by tag and add a permanent “Topics” sidebar that lists all user‑defined tags for quick navigation.
Why it matters:
- Users can instantly locate all items with a given tag without opening multiple folders.
- The sidebar provides a visual overview of the tagging taxonomy, helping non‑technical users discover related content.
- Complements the virtual Topic Map view and encourages consistent tagging practices.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Index encrypted tag metadata locally and perform tag‑filtered search client‑side.
- Add a collapsible “Topics” panel on the…

Make indent+outdent buttons visible by default on mobile
As a mobile Proton Drive user taking notes on a book, a podcast, or a lecture, I want to indent and dedent with a single button press so that I can efficiently take hierarchical notes. Proton Drive and Google Docs both have indent/dedent functionality. Google docs shows indent+dedent buttons by default on mobile. Proton Drive hides them in a menu on mobile.

Slideshow Screensaver Android
I want to use my photos backed up on Proton Drive as a screensaver on an Android tablet. Google Photos has the option to be used directly as a screensaver, which shuffles through all backed up photos.

Saved and existing images in the cloud
Images that have already been uploaded to the cloud should then be clearly visible under Photos. If you have many folders with images in the cloud, they should be organized and visible as albums under Photos. Otherwise, the feature is useless for many people.

Upload photos as zip files, or allow one-time import from Google
I'm in the process of switching off of Google's G-Suite, and moving my photos/videos off there, and into Proton Drive. Google Photos is nice because you can download a bunch of files into a zip file to save bandwidth. It would also be nice to upload that raw zip file into Proton Drive to save upload bandwidth. Upload speeds are usually much slower for folks too, so this would be really helpful.
Alternatively, it would be great to do a one-time import of photos from Google Photos, and just be done with it :)
Thanks!

Ability to opt out of certificate pinning
I want to use Proton Drive on my work computer but I can't because my work computer is secured with deep packet inspection, i.e. they have set it up to be a "man-in-the-middle" and can inspect all my encrypted traffic. Proton Drive protects against this (presumably via certificate pinning) and will not sync files up or down if the certificate is not correctly coming from Proton. This is a great security feature and I'm glad it is implemented, but it means I cannot use Proton Drive here at work. It would be nice if I could go into the settings…
