Proton Docs: Virtual Collection or Notebook
In the Proton Docs app, enable users to add docs to collections. A collection ...
(1) ... provides a list view of all its docs (irrespective of their actual location within the Drive folder structure), and
(2) ... can be opened and edited in a single browser tab, e.g. by displaying each doc as a page (creating something like a notebook).Use case:
I maintain individual 'Overview' documents for topics such as: bank accounts, various insurances, summer holiday each year, etc.
Obviously, these documents are in separate folders within Proton Drive (alongside related materials like invoices).
Now, I’d like the…

“I’m very happy with Proton, keep it up! I know a spreadsheet app is being worked on for Proton Drive, but could you tell me when it will become available? I miss it a lot—so soon as possible would be great.”

Add EXIF data "CreationDate" if not exists
Images and videos which do not have a "CreationDate" tag in its EXIF data heavily rely on the "DateLastChanged" tag in order to be sorted correctly. WhatsApp for instance does not ship that CreationDate tag with its media files.
This leads to the problem that images without this important EXIF data entry cannot be downloaded without the loss of any date information (because all other tags are changed to todays date). The idea is to set the "CreationDate" EXIF data if a media file does not have it at download time. It should use the "DateLastChanged" date for that. That…

# 0107 User‑friendly onboarding in Topic Maps for non‑technical users
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Add clear onboarding tooltips, short tutorial videos, and example tag sets to help users who are not comfortable with metadata understand and adopt the new Tag/Topic Map functionality.
Why it matters:
- Reduces the learning curve for casual or non‑technical users, encouraging wider adoption.
- Prevents misuse (e.g., overly generic tags) by guiding best practices.
- Aligns with Proton’s mission to make privacy‑first tools accessible to everyone.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- When the Tag button first appears, show a one‑time tooltip explaining “What is a tag?” with a “Got it” dismiss…

# 0106 Bulk‑tagging UI. Bulk‑tagging UI (multi‑select → “Add Tag”) for Proton Drive
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Provide a bulk‑tagging workflow where users can select multiple files/folders, right‑click, and choose “Add Tag” to apply one or more tags to all selected items at once.
Why it matters:
- Saves time for scientists, educators, and any power user who needs to label large asset libraries.
- Encourages consistent tagging because applying a tag to many items becomes frictionless.
- Mirrors bulk‑action patterns already present in other file‑management tools.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Extend the multi‑select toolbar with an “Add Tag” button.
- Open a modal where the user can…

# 0104 Permission inheritance for Topic Map virtual collections
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Make virtual Topic Maps inherit the most restrictive sharing permissions of the items they contain, with an optional override to set separate permissions for the collection itself.
Why it matters:
- Guarantees that a virtual collection never exposes a file to a broader audience than the file’s original sharing settings.
- Allows teams to create a “read‑only” view of a project while keeping the underlying assets private.
- Aligns with Proton’s zero‑knowledge model – permissions are enforced client‑side.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- When a Topic Map is rendered, compute the intersection of…

# 0103 Docs/Sheets creation from a Topic Map
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Enable users to create a new Proton Doc or Sheet from within a Topic Map, automatically inheriting the map’s tag(s) and sharing settings.
Why it matters:
- Project documentation stays logically linked to the same set of assets, reducing the chance of orphaned files.
- Teams can spin up meeting notes, design specs, or spreadsheets that are instantly discoverable via the same tag.
- Keeps the workflow inside Drive, avoiding the need to manually copy‑paste links.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Add a “New Doc from Topic” button in the Topic Map view.
- The…

I'd like to share a photoalbum.
I'm a hobby-photographer and i mainly bought proton drive to share pictures.
The problem is, when uploading pictures as files, i can share them, but i can not view a prewiev on my phone, without having to download them. On the other side, when i upload them as pictures, i can not share them easily with friends. I want to share a link, from which they can view and download the pictures, without having to create an account on proton. This is just stupid and should not be that hard.

Make each tab remember and reopen at the last position/scroll location.
Please add a feature where each sheet/tab remembers and restores my last scroll/view position when I switch back to it, rather than resetting to the beginning every time. This would greatly improve my workflow. Thank you.

Allow saving Proton Sheets directly into locally synced Proton Drive folders
Currently, Proton Sheets documents cannot be saved into folders that are locally replicated via Proton Drive. This means any sheet created or edited in Proton Sheets remains cloud-only and is inaccessible from the local file system.
Being able to save a Proton Sheet directly into a synced folder — even as an auto-converted .xlsx — would greatly improve usability and make the ecosystem more practical for professional use.
Thank you for considering this.

Crop Photos.
Currently, editing a photo on your phone doesn’t update the version saved in Proton Drive. I often need to crop the photos.

Spreadsheet: protect cells at cell level. Just like Google Sheets.
Again a feature that I supposed to be standard in a spreadsheet. After all we don't want our customers to mess up the sheet. And they will if they can.

Offline support for documents on iOS
When I have no internet on my iPhone and I open Proton Drive, the spinner keeps going indefinitely even if I have offline documents. Having this flow defeats the purpose of having offline documents in the first place because when I am offline I cannot access them.

pictures in Proton Sheets
I know it's early, but until Proton office apps allow me to add pictures to sheets, docs, and slides I can't fully switch. Would love to see this added soon!

Improve update time for filters
In Proton Mail, when adding or modifying a Filter the update time is extremely long. I often need to make an update and then check back in the next day to see if it has worked. I get that it's doing some reindexing or something but these update times are absolutely awful and make working via filters extremely cumbersome.
While we're at it, improvements to the filter add/edit UI would be great. Comparing to GMail, I can type in a search of my inbox and then just "turn this search into a filter" pretty easily. In Proton, I have to…

photo import settings
when syncing photos, certain places have baked-in file structures that cannot be changed without damage, and have sprawling folders which spam thousands of albums. It would be nice to have a setting to turn off adding albums, both globally and per folder synced.

Folder slider view and browsing improvements in Android app
When browsing multiple files in a folder, I don't see the slider on the right and I don't know how much space is left. Also, when I open a file and then return, I often end up not where I left off. Please fix this, as it's very annoying.

Be able to edit files using local apps and store back to Protondrive
Would be nice to be able to work with files directly in protondrive (in essence have protondrive as a folder on my computer). So I can open the files and save them back to PD.

Anonymous File uploads
Anonymous file uploads were requested and the post was closed, but the actual request was not executed... The request is for anonymous UPLOAD, with no viewing or editing of files uploaded previously or by other users, not just a drive folder that is open to the world. Although this feature is a nice addition, it doesn't address the root issue. This is an important feature for business and personal use, and is a pretty significant miss not to have. Various other services include it, including Dropbox, Box, Nextcloud, Microsoft, and Google. Although these last 2 are fundamentally different than Proton…
