Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

I'd the same functionality as in MacOs, where the drive integrates in Finder. In the linux case, nautilus

This is my mission-critical backup method, and it is preventing me from ditching Windows. I have a family plan, so this is affecting multiple computers on my account.

I stepped over to Linux.
There is a web based mail client but I don't like that one very much.
There is no Sync Drive for Linux. I cannot step over to Proton Drive. -

A desktop client for Linux would be AWESOME! I would definitely upgrade my subscription and make more extensive use of Proton's offerings if they did this.

I'd really love to use Proton Drive, I'd even upgrade my plan from Plus to Unlimited for more storage if could, but without Linux syncing it's practically useless to me!

They absolutely do not care about us Linux users. There are cloud storage services which are operating at a tiny fraction of the size and budget of Proton yet they have a functioning Linux client with directory sync. I'm just ******* away money on a useless Unlimited plan just so they can release more half-finished products no one asks for. I'm tired of reading "It's on the roadmap" because I know that is a blatant lie to keep people from leaving. "A better internet starts with privacy and freedom", except for Linux users, the guys who give a **** about privacy the most. That awful response from the CEO during the AMA cemented my belief that they have no intention whatsoever of developing a Linux client. Best take your money elsewhere, folks.

Proton Drive needs a Linux client with automatic file sync. Many of us rely on Linux as our primary OS, and this feature is essential for a seamless workflow. It would help users like me fully switch from other cloud services like Google Drive. Please prioritize this – the Linux community is ready to support Proton even more!

Proton drive client would be a good feature to have on the Linux desktop, even if it just acts as a mounted network share drive.

Yep, it really looks like there are a lot of people that are waiting for this. Since 2022. So, it comes to my mind that there already may be some efforts done. Is there any public Git repo or so with any initial version?

I like using Proton, but this is what keeps me from upgrading my account. Why is it Nextcloud can pull this off but not Proton?

This is is the single most important feature I am looking for that is getting in the way of me fully adopting open source in my personal life.
Why?
Because I am the director of a company that has to use a Windows PC in the office, but I use Linux at home. Sync of documents between these platforms will allow me to work from home without having to fire up my Windows laptop.

Upcoming Windows updates are increasingly pushing AI to do shady or dubious things where we don't really know what it's doing and what data it's collecting.
For example, in the upcoming 24H2 update, the AI's “Recall” feature becomes a Windows Explorer dependency, making it increasingly difficult for users to completely remove any AI functionality they don't want...
Today, more than ever, I really want to permanently switch to Linux but I can't because:
- 1st Proton Drive is still not available
- 2nd ProtonVPN is really in a bad shape on LinuxPlease Proton Team we need these on Linux asap.
