Customize event colors
Apologies if this is already a feature and I couldn't figure it out...
It would be nice to assign calendar events different colors to quickly identify different types of appointments.
Thanks and appreciate all of the great work!!!
Hi everyone, this feature is now available on web, Android, iOS and desktop!

I am missing the feature to customize the names of said colors. Like naming the color Banana = Vacation so I don't have to remember what is what all the time :)

it only shows as a left hand side bar of colour
I'd have preferred the whole entry to be coloured -

Dear Proton Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to propose an enhancement to the Proton Calendar that I believe will significantly improve its functionality and user satisfaction. Currently, the Proton Calendar requires users to create separate calendars to utilize different colors for organizing various types of events. This limitation affects the overall usability and convenience of the calendar function, particularly for users who require detailed organizational tools within a single, unified calendar interface.
Proposal Overview:
We suggest implementing a color-coding system that allows users to assign different colors to events within the same calendar. This feature is widely requested and appreciated in other competitive platforms and its absence is notably felt among our user base.
Key Benefits:
Enhanced Organization: Users can easily distinguish between different types of events (e.g., personal, work, birthdays) at a glance, improving overall time management.
Increased Efficiency: Reduces the need to switch between multiple calendars, thus speeding up the process of scheduling and reviewing commitments.
User Satisfaction: Many users have expressed a desire for this feature. Implementing it would not only meet user demands but also enhance user retention and satisfaction.
Competitive Edge: Adding this feature would align Proton Calendar more closely with leading competitors, potentially attracting users looking for a more integrated and efficient calendaring solution.
Implementation Suggestions:
User Interface Design: Integrate a simple color picker within the event creation and editing modal.
Customization: Allow users to create a customizable color palette based on their preferences or use a set of predefined colors.
Settings Option: Provide options in the settings menu for default colors tied to specific types of events or tags.
Conclusion:The addition of a color-coding system within a single calendar is not just a minor aesthetic enhancement but a significant upgrade to the core functionality of the Proton Calendar. By enabling this feature, we can address a key usability issue that many users encounter and thereby improve their overall experience with Proton's services.
We believe that this improvement will not only satisfy current user requests but also attract new users to the Proton Calendar, contributing to its growth and success. We are keen to discuss this proposal further and explore potential timelines for its implementation.
Thank you for considering this enhancement. I look forward to your feedback and to the possibility of implementing this valuable feature soon.
Best regards,

Ten colors should be enough. Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple, Pink, Black, Grey, Orange, Turquoise

It would be really cool if you could let us change the default colors and make them to our liking. Some people like bright colors, and others would like to do more pastel colors. And also for each type of event we would like to have a different brightness of color too. Important events to highlight bright colors, and unimportant to make, for example, in shades of gray.

I'm guessing that the PLANNED and date means that it is planned for then? But I still don't see it. I've run a software development shop and it is very aggravating that Proton, which is entirely supported by our money, doesn't have a CLEAR and CONSTANT way of keeping their supporters INFORMED on roadmap development progress. Please? Is it too much to ask that these issues, which are clearly important to us, are very opaque regarding progress and delivery dates.
I appreciate the products I really do, but regardless of how many users, there should be better two way communication. If I am wrong and this is clearly posted somewhere, I would humbly accept any correction.

I would like to not only be able to have at least 10 color options for each appointment, but also to be able to label the colors for my calendar. For example, I could call Blue - meetings, Purple- phone call, lavender- family. Or whatever. As soon I can change the colors of my appts, I will start using it. My email functionality will also be limited until then bc Gmail imports email appts/events into my calendar.

Not having the ability to alter the color of events is preventing me from switching over to Proton mail completely from my other service.

Being able to color events, would unblock me. Having 25 calendars is nice, but also too little (in terms of number of colors that is) and way too cumbersome when you’re just trying to group events that do belong together in some way.
This is absolutely critical when it comes to calendar blocking or any other productivity approach.

I completely agree. I have four different people's schedules on one calendar and I rely on color coding each individual event to match the person's correlating schedule so I can keep track of who is doing what at any given moment. Example: person A uses red to signify their events, person B uses blue and so on. Don't color coordinate based on which calendar folder is being used. For me, this is the biggest obstacle to completely switch over from Google calendars to Proton Calendar.

The function I miss the most from google calendar is the function of different colors for different types of event.
An example: Blue for work, red for very important things, green for the rest of the family, a color for a specific hobby etc.
This make it very easy by a glace to get an overview of different types of events in my calendar.
It be great if one can choose a colour when one makes an event , just like in gmail -

It has been 4 years since the first comment, this is the second most upvoted feature request for Proton Calendar, and no review from the Proton team. Very disappointing.

When adding / editing an event - be able to select a different colour for the event. This way when looking at the month / day overview, someone can at a glance see different type of events (e.g. Grey for work / red for family stuff / blue for individual things / green for medical events etc).
